Not rude at all kidcat. I'm on minimum wage and work 42.5 hours a week. Factoring in petrol and childcare costs brings my average hourly rate of pay to £2.33 per hour. It brings £100 per week for us so yes, financially much more comfortable. I will look at it though kidcat because we have the dog walker costs and both girls are on school dinners now too.
It may come to where I have to leave because I have 12 weeks of a childminding course to do at 6.30pm. If they refuse to let me walk out that door at 6pm every week or don't give me time off for first aid training I will have to leave.
I was much happier, DH too when I didn't work full-time, doggie too. The only ones happy are the girls who love breakfast and after school club.
Childminding 1 child just part time would give me the same take home pay.
If I enjoyed the job it wouldn't be so bad, but its getting me down so much spending so much time in an environment that is hostile management wise and stressing because of the behaviour problems in the room. A child is going to get seriously hurt and I'm afraid it might be on my watch. I'm nervous anyway but I constantly tense at the moment, to the point where I'm scared I might be relapsing... And I miss my girls of an evening.0 -
Softstuff, the toe sounds so painful, It seems that things are expensive over your way as they are here. You probably just get better weather, or at least no snow and sleet.
The toe's fine really, just a little colourful. Not the first thing I've dislocated and knowing me it won't be the last.
And yes, things are dear here, some things much more so than in England. As for the weather, we get rain until it floods, sun until things burst into flames, hail the size of golfballs, tornadoes and cyclones..... still better than England though :rotfl:.
I'm going to be having a tight month grocery wise, trying to save a little bit of cash, since I'm coming to you guys in June. That said I make everything from bread to mayo myself and short of knitting lentils I'm not sure what else I can do!
Love to everyone having a sucky time. We're between sucky times right now and I'm enjoying the lull.
P.S GQ - I sent all the correct paperwork to get Nursie out of quarantine, she should be back with you imminently.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
fuddleYou work/life balance is more important. Good for you to have a plan. Rootin for ya!
Bit cloudy here today & wind's got up but OK. I'm so sorry to hear of all the c**p in your lives that some of you are experiencing. I sincerely hope that things will improve for you all in all areas
Have had some lovely news to share. My Darling Godmother (now 82 - lives in Birmingham) has been nominated for an award from the RNLI and she has invited DH & I to go with her to the presentation at the Barbican at the end of May. This is SO well deserved for her as she has collected for them for as long as I can remember & she's stood outside supermarkets in rotten weather for hours. She's been a total example & inspiration in my life & is like a second mum to me so I'm really pleased that her efforts over so many years have been recognised at last.
Hope everyone has a good daySmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
FUDDLE, sorry to hear the job is so stressful, and your right to be worried. Im glad your girls are enjoying their clubs, but mummy time is always nice. I wish I had been at home more when mine were little, something I can never change as I had to work.
Today I have been charity shop looking around, and I bought a stained glass window kits, brand new from QVC for 7.99. It looks exciting. I called by the glazier and he gave me a free off cut of glass. I did buy the replacement bit for the summerhouse for £7.50 tho. He even cut it to size and trimmed the edges, well filed them.
Right must get the washing pegged out as its stopped raining for a bit.BSC member 137

vjsmum, sorry I forgot your name re the banana bread.
Oh no worries at all. It's just easier for someone else to find if they know where it came from - it's a good one isn't it?Thanks to Blue Peter
Had to work this morning - invigilating an exam of 90 students, one of whom had the most stinking cold. He was coughing and sneezing non-stop for pretty much the whole 2 hours. If we don't all come down with it, it'll be a miracle.:( Poor lamb, I could almost see the bugs swarming off him.
Trip to Ald! for most of the shopping on the way home (thanks to whoever said about the £5 voucher), a few bits to get from our little Mr M later but I am going to get my natural brown colour restored to my hair in a mo. I've been trialling these grey roots for a couple of weeks but I need to revert back;)
It's our 22nd wedding anniversary tomorrow (I know - you get less for murder!!) and we are celebrating in (old) style - cycling in the peak district, but I'm holding out for a pub lunch instead of a picnic. This day 22 years ago was the most glorious hot and sunny day - as was the day after our wedding. The day of it was somewhat greyer and, I'm told, cold - but I didn't noticeHe's a good old stick and I can't imagine being married to anyone else - as long as he keeps making me laugh, I'll put up with the snoring (thank God for a spare room though!)
I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
VJSMUM it was me, I always work out when the voucher is due for @ldi. Then I stock up on some bits for the month. I thought I was mad we will be married for 21 years this September, bless him - we did however separate for a while due to mountains of debt but that is another story, we ended up BR but at least we have a 'new life'.
We are sunny but windy here now, washing blowing nicely on the line. Hope your have a few precious minutes to yourself fuddle, you deserve it. xBSC member 137

You rotter! I was enjoying the peace and quiet.
But I'm just nipping onto the Quanas webste to book her a ticket back to Oz; with your poorly toe, your need is clearly greater than mine and I mustn't be selfish..........:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
