Oh that sounds lovely Mrs L - I'd like to see a photo of that too.
Had a good day in the garden and can't move now, too creaky. Dull and blowy and waiting for rain today.
I'm going to live out of the food stash this week because I spent the money on plants :)

Morning toughies, tis' a beautiful day here. Have woken up to the sun shining already in the garden. Yesterday after work, no DD here so me and OH went to sunny hunny - hunstanton for a nice walk along the sea front and we had a bag of chips. Now I know times are hard, but they were £2.30 for a portion of chips and a dash of gravy on top. Nice they were, but I did feel a little over charged.

We are lunching at other DD, and as usual we all take some food. Mum is taking a chicken pie and we are taking apple crumble and custard.

Hope everyone is getting on ok in their gardens, im hopeing the sun will continue on Tuesday as I have a day off and I need to start the first major weeding. Last year we put some wood chips down and it has helped stop as many coming through so far.

Have good day everyone, and enjoy this sunshine!!!

Morning all, we've got the big yellow ball, too - 2 days in a row, fantastic! :j Even if I just do some more weeding and pruning, it will make the garden looks tons better, goodness knows it needs a lot of TLC after the dreadful winter we've had!

DD's tomato seedlings have grown 2" this week, and there are a few more teeny ones sprouting, hopeful there will be enough for several plants.

Have a fab Sunday, hugs to those in need today! :)

    A xo

My big job for today is to finally sort out the dumped rubbish in what is supposed to be a summerhouse, but in reality has become the storage place for all those useful bits and bods that 'we might find a use for' one day. Well, we haven't, so they have to go and I'm really looking forward to having somewhere comfy to sit on damp or cooler days and have lunch or the afternoon cuppa. I got in there yesterday evening and heaved out an old camping washing up stand someone gave us years ago, a couple of big cardboard boxes, a folding camping table that has seen better days and all the cushionfloor offcuts from when we had the flooring replaced. He Who Knows is going to use his industrial Vax and give it a good hoovering, I am going to brush all the cobwebs off the outside and take up the rush mats and give them a good belting on the line with an old tennis raquet and then go into the loft to get down a pair of Ikea Poang chairs so we have something comfortable to sit on. We have a little table that was made for us by an old friend in the village and DDs old rocking chair which I coundn't bear to part with and the OzPig lives in there too. I will have to do a jumble sale and find something to make curtains from, we have 3 windows and a glass top door so a duvet cover or 1 big curtain will do it. Looking forward to getting it all up and running. Lunch today will be some pasta as I went through the store cupboard yesterday and found some stir in sauces that need using up, I hope the sunshine stays with us long enough to eat outside again as yesterday was so lovely, He Who Knows even managed to lay out in the sun for half an hour to give his back(he has psoriasis) a little bit of therapy, it was lovely. Have a nice day all, and enjoy outside if you possibly can, Cheers Lyn xxx.

He Who Knows and the Dockling have just come back from thier walk and they heard the first Cuckoo of the year, in thier own words 'It was blooming noisy too, it just wouldn't shut up - Cuckoo Cuckoo Cuckoo etc. So it really and truly is SPRING!!!!! WooHoo!!!!!

Morning Toughies - I do hope everyone is getting some sunshine today to lift the spirits. DH has gone on a ride with his trike with all the other old g*ts - oops motorcycle enthusiasts :) so I'm stripping the bed to get my bedding blowing in the sunshine - ooh lovely fresh smell. This winter has been too long. I feel the urge to clean (hope it doesnt last too long!) Just checked Blackbirds nest - fledgeling has gone so it looks as if they were successful thanks to DH's efforts with the stakes & mesh to stop any puss cats getting to him. Anyone know if blackbirds use the same nest to nest again?

    Morning all,

Been reading along with you all lately even though haven't posted. DS6's turn to be ill so pair of us stuck indoors since Tuesday pm. He will be just about well enough for school tomorrow I think. I felt ill from Friday, missed my course :( which am disappointed at and spent yesterday in bed. Came down this morn to a very messy house - how can a few hours of me not clearing away lead to this?!! On the mend today so done the basics, kids' homework done, washing on the line, sunshine out and I am off for a bath (boy do I need one!). DH is making a big cooked breakfast/brunch later and then we will just have nibbly bits for tea as I am still very tired and he has coursework - and cooked breakfast is a rare treat for us, yum yum.

Didn't waste yesterday though - did lots of research for DS8's potential secondary schools, looking at every available option. Some decent schools out of catchment - some grammer, some not but all I've put on wish list so far require selection test(s) of some sort and not all the same. Have ordered practice papers etc for a consortium of grammar schools - just one test sitting for them all but competition is fierce so probably a long shot. First choice is an outstanding secondary school which requires a modern language aptitude test (if out of catchment) with no practice papers or guidance available as its all based on raw aptitude. Haven't looked at the other selection tests yet. Then there is transport to consider amongst other things and whether DS and us parents actually like the school.

Also been researching further study options pour moi, bore you with that some other time :D.

Well plans to go to coast abandoned due the recovering poorlies. Need to send DH down the shed to hunt out the cat boxes (shed packed tetris style like our freezers so no easy job) and then clean them as cats have their annual jabs tomorrow - they will not be happy kitties.

willing to share sunshine with anyone with solar deprivation...

    off to cleanse
    sq :)

I've got an old g*t here who is moaning like hell that he can'y get any decent weather to get his bike out ss. We had one day nice - yesterday - and now back to normal gloom. I think I've got cabin fever.
  • SQ I think most senior schools have an open day/evening for prospective applicants and thier parents to visit and see the schools for themselves, usually with some of the pupils already there helping out. It's a useful exercise as you can get a real 'feel' for the atmosphere of the school by seeing how the kids interact with the visitors and staff and also perhaps even more important with each other. If you ring the secretaries of any schools you would like to see they will be able to give you dates for these open days. If you're really lucky you might even get a private visit, really useful as you can then see the school at work, and not just on show to the public!, Cheers Lyn xxx.

We had a nice sunny day yesterday too so I went shopping with dd in York. Pity I did not trust the weather and wore a heavy jacket :o
had to walk around carrying jacket over my arm and poor dd holding it every time I wanted to look at anything.

Had what feels like a very extravagant shop but actually spent a lot less than it looked as TK maximus had a lovely Italian leather shoulderbag that should have been £120 - reduced to around £40 which will be saved for special occasions. Weather was so hot I decided to look for lightweight trousers and managed to get a pair of linen mix ones for £6 and also a pair of chambrey ones for a tenner in Boyses. If weather stays nice I have a lot of tops I bought in catalogue charity sale last year for well under a pound each so can keep changing and getting things laundered. Treated dd to all day breakfast as reward for her help and got back shattered but pleased.
    Softstuff

I was going to ask how you make the noodles but don't fancy the idea of acrobatics and injury so may have to settle for all the AF noodles in the cupboard instead.

Might have lunch in garden if it is warm enough and planning chicken wrapped in bacon, veggie bake and potatoes with enough for dd who gets home tonight from visiting friends. DH has gone to see a mate so not sure when he will get back so will make a start on lunch preps.

Hugs to all and have a nice day.

    sq :)

There's also things like friends will be loads of miles away and after school clubs might be tricky that should be considered too.

:T I am celebrating as I got tickets for Glastonbury today  I have wanted to go for years (and it is one of my "things to do before I'm 50) and so me and DS (14) are off. Am a bag of nerves and adrenalin and have no idea how the whole thing works but I'm very happy :D
I wanna be in the room where it happens
