Kept a smile on my face even though my back was painful!
My Dad and I channel Dad's Army and declare that we'll give them cold steel (they don't like it up 'em).
I found two teeny baby slugs on my "new" shed panel today when I was measuring up. I showed them a Dr Marten boot for a change................:rotfl:
I will be gardening again tomorrow 'tho I can barely move my right arm as high as shoulder level. I seem to have pulled/ strained a muscle or tendon leading from the elbow across and down my forearm. New one on me but hurts like billy-o if I move it wrong. Only did it on Weds so have to hope that it'll mend soon.
Right, my supper is calling to me. Have a good evening, folks.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

nutty sometimes things get that bad and so much stuff happens that you have to just sit down raise your head to the skies and laugh, proper laugh and let whatever you believe in know that you are not beaten and never will be
I was thinking more of opening a window and yelling out "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!". Which I knew was a quote from a film, but when I googled I'm damned if I've even seen the film.
I woke up this morning and toe isn't too crazy. It still doesn't move and I wouldn't try standing tiptoe, but unlike last night I can adopt a slow shuffle.
Mardatha, an excellent plan regarding the placard, could be very lucrative, but perhaps a little misleading.
GQ, noodling is especially perilous. It was like balancing on a barrel at the circus, only the barrel was squishy and I'm no acrobat. It's not like I won't try it again though. Who can resist the cheap allure of home made noodles (about $1 for 8 portions). They're so good that after I did my toe in making the dough, I stood on one leg to make them into noodles. If you're mistaking your finger for a parsnip, you need new glasses and some hand cream.
I very much like your Dads singing Hobsons Choice. My reminder of my Dad is to look at almost anything, particularly if it's spectacular and say with wonderment "How much has that cost??".Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Morning toughies, been really busy recently so just lurking as no time to read properly and post replies. Hope all the poorlies and family-stressed have a better weekend! :kisses3:
Going to work all day, it would be nice as well! Wanted to get my spuds in as it promises to be reasonable weather, and I've got herbs to plant and a small bed to dig over for some other veg - fingers crossed for after tea or tomorrow. I have seen several baby slugs and medium-sized snails the last few days - they have been collected into a pile and squished before being buried in sturdy carrier bags in the dustbin! They will NOT be having my meagre crop of veg for a second year.
I've been slowly working my way through the freezers, and now have some SPACE, so will be organising better so I can fill said space with a few more YS items. There are a few odds and ends of bread taking up quite a bit of space, so we'll have soup one night to finish them up. My food bill continues to creep ever-upwards, so need to get back on track with food and money management.
Have a lovely Saturday, hope to pop back later!

Cheapskate thanks for the reminder, some freezer clearance ifs definitely on the (long) list of jobs to be done. I think there's some stuff that's approaching too old and need to think what to do with it. I'm sure there's still some catering size puff pastry for a start but I don't want to be eating pastry. The huge sorting of the children's rooms continues and we also need to bunny proof as they are now teenagers and into everything!
On an MSE front I went to Mr T for All Bran yesterday and spent £30-odd so that was a spectacular fail. And some was for the freezer so a double fail. Must try harder.0 -
Morning Toughies, oh my, what a lovely sunny day we have here, beautiful blue sky and the world looks clean and new, it must be the beginning of springtime, surely??? I am sad to report that my poor little primrose is no more. He Who Knows mowed the lawns yesterday and forgot where it was, so sad, but at least I had it for a few days and the enjoyment I had from it was out of all proportion to the size of the little plant. I'm going to see if I can find some wildflower seed next time I'm in town and try to start some plants for the borders, I think they'll self seed everywhere after that and then we'll always have them.
Looking forward to our cookout and will dust off the kelly kettle for tea this afternoon, the neighbours don't understand why we do it, all adds to the fun!!!! But then we're bad little bunnies and giggle in all the right places!!!
We moved some redcurrant bushes a couple of days ago and they are now putting out leaves, the two new loganberries are also showing green and joy of joys, my asparagus bed has lots of little pink noses popping out of the soil, happy, happy, HAPPY!!!!!! Have as much time out as you can today, if you have the sunshine that is, and soak up those rays, much better for you than housework!!! Have a good one, Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Too right, Mrs LW! Spring has definately sprung.
I have made an early raid on Tosspots to get some el cheapo beer (4 for £1) to start slug-pubbing. They'll die merrily but they'll die. I have derelict plots on either side of mine and gawd knows how many thousands of the things are lying in wait for my crops to show their heads above ground.
I've been working on my new-to-me-old-shed repair plan and have refined a list of bits of wood needed because they are eitehr not present at all, or are present but badly-rotted. Shed is about 5th hand and has spent the last 18 months residing in pieces on a friend's lottie. It's now in pieces on mine, but there is a cunning plan.;)
Now I know what's what, I can go to the reclaimation yard within the hour. I tell myself this is a recce and I'm not buying today and, truth be told, having only a pushbike limits spontanenous purchasing of bulky items, but I never get outta that fab place empty-handed.
I'm also eating the freezer down with a view to making a clean sweep in there. Tiny freezers like mine fill up quickly but empty out quickly as well. Had a couple of meals last week which could classify as Freezer Surprise - didn't know which of two or three homecooked items they were until I'd defrosted them.
Lottie has really come on in 7 days; the blackcurrant bush had the tiniest bit of green leaves unfurling near the base last Sat, a few more last Sun and when I saw it yesterday was nearly fully in leaf. Stunning speed.
Allrighty, that's the tea drunk, gotta grab a YS pasty from the fridge (6 for 79p this morning) and then I'm good to go. Hope everyone has a good day and manages to get out into the air.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Mrs LW and others: Afternoon all. Just to let you know that Fuddle is fine but working all hours and has hardly time to breathe, let alone switch on to forums.
What a lovely day. I'm in the garden turning out the greenhouse and nurturing my tiny seedlings. We have a nun friend who has brought all her seedlings round as they were outgrowing her windowsill. So I am foster mother to her plants as well. The next step is the garden shed. I have to be feeling really strong for that.
Someone has just donated me a huge sack full of parsnips. I closed my mind to the freezer full of parsnip soup that I have and accepted it gratefully. I will pass them on to the Open Arms chef who I know will go ballistic as I gave her a sack of parsnips last week as well.
Back to the sunny outdoors.

Afternoon on this lovely sunny afternoon in leafy cheshire
I have made an impulse purchase I think I will probably regret later, last week Ald! were selling slot together raised plant beds for £6.99, which I looked at and decided against, today they were reduced to £4.59 so I bought two! I do want a raised bed but these are not very high - so am wondering if I can put on on top of the other to make a better height.0 -
MONNAGRAN thanks for letting us know Fuddley Duddley is alive and kicking, I guessed she was off her feet and no time to communicate, she's a good kid!!!! Give her my love if you are in contact with her again if you would, and a girl can never have too many parsnips - you'll miss them when they're gone, but probably not until!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0
