  • Evening all, photos of the pond with the green oak sleepers round it and the lovely bench He Who Knows made for us with what was left over when we'd finished the pond. The sleepers have been in situ for at least 5 years and just get more silver with the passing years, I love them!!!ao8dnn.jpg

Oh that sounds lovely Mrs L - I'd like to see a photo of that too.
Had a good day in the garden and can't move now, too creaky. Dull and blowy and waiting for rain today.
I'm going to live out of the food stash this week because I spent the money on plants :)

Liked the photo's...I'm living out of my food stash, saving money, creating space for new items and the treats I purchased at a local food festival...My jams and marmelade rarely cost a £1 but the chutneys and jams available(nom, nom)as they say and cordials to die for...

Bought some sourdough bread too...but guess what? I have started making my own using Paul Hollywood's recipe and have a starter dough fermenting as I speak.

Now going for slightly more costly food but quality and making go further...now(during the summer)getting out and visiting food festivals and farmers markets...

  • You're getting very adventurous with your cooking POPS, isn't it amazing how you gain confidence and become much braver about trying out new recipes as time goes on? Well done you, you're a clever old thing aren't you? Cheers Lyn x.

Guess what? I am making home made chips now...boiling potatoes with their skins on(they do very quickly)then I shall fry them in olive oil in a frying or saucepan, drain them on kitchen roll. I haven't done home made chips in decades. And not par boiling them first.:)

TBH I doubt my meal of mince, vegetables and chips has used a lot of energy and when it is reheated even less...

    Thats lovely Mrs LW.

fuddle if you ad a few drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo the head lice will stay away, I did it and my 2 never got them after that. i know you can buy shampoo with it in but my way is cheaper as a bottle of tea tree oil will last for ages and can be used for other things.

    Evening all! :)

Well it did nothing but rain today but we still had a great day. Headed down to Newquay so OH could have first surf of the year. :)

Me, LO and a friend had a walk around the shops and got completely soaked (LO nicely tucked up in his rain covered pram, lol). But a great picnic lunch, great company and generally a great day.

This evening came home for a nice roast with the parents and siblings and then came home for a lovely soak in the bath. Ended up having a moment after where I realised how damn happy I am with things at the moment.

Completely skint but rich with friends and my perfect little family :)
  • Morning all, another beautiful sunny morning here in the deep south. POPS well done on home made chips, I haven't made uncooked (as in not pre boiled) chips for years, I always use left over cooked potatoes, in fact I always make sure to have some extra potatoes in the pan to keep in the fridge these days, they are so useful. In fact we've just had some sliced up and dry fried with some bacon pieces for breakfast. Sorry that the pictures have made the post all wide, glad you like the colour KIDCAT, the pond usually looks better at this time of year as we've all sorts of lovely things planted round it, but it's all so late due to the cold. I'll post a picture when the Irises and the daisies are up and blooming later in the year. Have a good day everyone, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Morning toughies, we have fog this morning but feeby sunshine is trying to pop her head through. This is the second post, as I forgot to press send lol.

Nice to hear from fuddle over the weekend, returning to full time work with 2 little ones is hard, but very rewarding.

MRLW love the garden, ours is mainly lawn which OH puts stripes in lol, and we have 1 border with a few shrubs in.

PEANUT, we are exactly the same skint but have nice friends. We had a meal with them at DD house. To make it farer we all took some food, I did desert my mum took local butchers homemade steak pies. Very nice in deed!! DD did veg and drinks.

POPS good to hear you are being more adventurous, both with travel and trying new foods. Exciting times ahead for you with your newly developed taste for adventure!!

This week I have 3 days off in a row :-) so I intend to start the room of doom, namely the spare room. I will be sorting out auction stuff and car booty stuff. The summer house needs sorting too, along with finally the attic. Whatever is made we will be saving.

Right off to put the washing machine on and get sorted out.

Morning Toughies! First laugh of the day. Its DH's birthday today & he's just told me our niece has sent him an SMA message - he looked very nonplussed when I asked him if she'd bottled it for him ;)
