I like that idea and have been thinking of possibly having a plant/flowers indoors but living mainly upstairs(except for when I cook a meal)they would be unseen. Though I remember having flowers for Mum in her bedroom treating it as a bedsit.
It has gone well today...and as each anniversary passes I think it does become easier. My interests have returned and possibly there are new ones been added too...

I used to like shopping in farm shops but I haven't for about 5 years now. I did once go to Good Food show. I bought a ginger preserve there that was divine.
I have grass in my garden
Loving the lighter nights, good for the soul but, and does this sound weird? Does anyone miss the cosines of dark/colder nights?
We'll be changing our winter duvets to summer ones in the coming weeks but fleeces will be kept out as I'm not trusting the weather to have turned just yet.0 -
Well done Fuddle, I'm not casting any clouts yet either. However, we go on holiday in a couple of weeks and I guess it will be a bit warmer in the Greek Island. So in the next two weeks, which have a jam-packed diary, I have to find the time to put away winter clobber and dig out some summer gear to be washed ironed and packed. Also the house has to be cleaned up and the garden got to the state where someone else can come in and water things.
I think I'll fall on my sword.
In the meantime it's Church magazine week so I'd better get it started.
Welcome Newbies. Crowdpleaser: I've had a much larger house than average and a teeny-tiny cottage. Both have their problems but if you think that having a bigger house is easier you couldn't be more wrong. At the moment I am in a 4 bedroomed, 4 reception roomed house with a healthy sized garden and two of us have managed to fill it to the max, plus a packed garage, two garden sheds and a loft. This, despite my constant war on clutter. How does that happen?

Monnagran - that is so true, I remember when we moved into our first vicarage from a tiny two up two down, the rooms were all huge and I was in awe of the space - convinced we would be rattling with nothing to furnish it with, two years later - we moved in to the next one which was bigger again - and had more than enough to fill that one!!0

Pops -thinking of you - the first anniversaries are always the worst I think - the first Christmas, the first Mothers Day etc. I still miss my mum but I like to think she's around in spirit. (specially when she sends me vapour trail 'kisses' when the planes go overhead!) & I think its good to stop & pause & think of our much loved ones that are no longer here to share our lives. Its good too that you can share your thoughts Pops & I'm glad that today has gone well for youSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

POPS my Dad left us in 1994 and I think of him every day, in fact I talk to him every day especially when I've done something that would have made him laugh, and I know he still does. I've never lost him as he's still my best friend, and I know without doubt that he laughs along with me and always will, he's a part of my life like he always was and is!!!
FUDDLE my petal, if you get some warm weather before we do down here, I trust you'll catch me an envelope full of sunshine and send it south, just so we remember what it feels like, I'm depending on you mind, I'm really, really glad that you have finally got GRASS it's going to make such a difference to this summer for the girlies isn't it? Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Pops: I neglected to say before, but I'm glad that the sad day passed well for you. I've noticed a change in you recently. You're much more positive and have a definite spring in your step. It must be the sunshine. You have come through a very tough time indeed and emerged,if not unscathed, at least unbowed. I'm proud of you.
Mrs LW. It's nearly 2 years since I lost my Dad at the age of 97, but his cap lives on the newel post at the bottom of the stairs and I can give it a pat when I go up and down.

Thank you Lyn, Silversava and Monnagran,
Unchartered territory and when your last parent passes it probably is difficult. In Mum's final weeks and as old as she was there were times she was missing her own Mum and would say her name.
I still talk to my parents but I guess I was fortunate that Mum and myself had a special close bond...
I had to make the journey and find my way and the amount of time that was right for me and no doubt that still will be true for all of us.
I noticed Fuddle mentioning Farm Markets...in your new area you have quite a few...Saltburn, Middlesborough, Guisborough, Durham, Hartlepool...In May there are between Yorkshire, Durham, Cumbria, Northumberland, Tynemouth and Tyne & Wear approx 27 markets/food festivals:eek: But they are not always held on a day that makes them easy to get to. I am now a fan. If I am careful and save elsewhere and keep finding my YS bargains I can treat myself.
Some items are reasonable, some too expensive but some things to die for...i bought some special jams and chutneys to use sparingly but so delicious. Normally I pay less than £1 this was really costly
There were some cordials and ginger wine to die for...best I have ever tasted...sample tasting was happening...:)"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Morning all.
I have long been of the suspicion that Stuff expands to fill the space available, regardless of how much space there is.
My home is silly-small and I've had to contract to fit. This means taking a tape-measure with me when I shop, as the tolerances on space are that limited. A lot of items have to go in one particular spot because there is no alternative.
It gets tiresome but it is a good thing in a way'; if I accrue too much life quickly becomes unmanageable and I have to have a clear out. Moving flat would be a cinch, not that I'm planning to pack up my spotted hankie any time soon.
Right, brekkie then w*rk. Have a good day, everyone.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Morning everyone, woken up to lovely sunshine. I hope it is going to be a good day. Today in the anniversary of mr ben's passing, he was my baby boy doggy.
On faceb00k my sil posted that her husbands mum, hes an only child too died in the early hours from cancer. The worse part is it was only diagnosed a couple of weeks ago.
Today I have a late half day at work, so I have plenty of time before I go to prepare tea and get some more housework done.
Nice to read that everyone is enjoying the sunshine, have a good day everyone. xBSC member 137
