Sevenup: Enjoy your adult only meal
We went to dinner a few weeks ago, just the two of us and it was lovely (but oh so weird!).
Had a nice lie in this morning thanks to OH and have just done some more work on LOs mural in his room
Really hoping to get this house spotless this weekend. Fed up of being untidy around here!0 -
Happy Easter everyone and I hope it is whatever you wish it to be with loved ones if possible or peaceful if on your own...
I feel a bit wistful but hopefully that will lift as the day goes on...I think it is because I know scary times are ahead but I am trying to live for now.
It is cold outdoors and the sky is colourless(no blue or sun)but the last couple of hours yesterday we had bright sunshine. But I had no reason to go out.
I needed nothing at the supermarket. There was no event to attend. Both require spending which left sitting on a seat people watching(at that time of night not very interesting)or many people about. Or walk the streets looking at houses...no wonder people stay in. It either costs money or there is little happening."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Morning all - well despite there still being large piles of drifted snow sitting by the roadside and up against the walls in the fields it is feeling positively spring-like this morning and there is a strange yellow object in the sky!
I have one very excited small person here today - DDs favourite place in the whole world (Hesketh Farm Park) is opening for the summer season today - she spent the entire of yesterday signing 'donkey' - occasionally we got cow, pig, duck and sheep as well but mainly donkey as they are her favourite animals there - just got to keep a lid on the giddies until after lunch as DH is at work until 2. We're going to pick him up then go straight off.
It will also be a good run out for her new walker which finally arrived on Wednesday afternoon (physio only ordered it in November!!!!!) DD is most impressed that it is bright red, I am most impressed that it is more sturdy and stable than the last one and we can already see how much better she is walking with it. DS has been issued DD's old walker and he is already getting the hang of a few steps - I can't decide whether to be deeply excited about the idea of having them both on walkers or very slightly terrified!!!Think I'll go with excited with moments of OMG!
Thankfully the kids Easter pressies arrived yesterday - We decided that rather getting chocolate eggs which are so much more expensive for the amount of choc you get, we'd get them a present instead so got a wooden pizza with add your own toppings (Velcro) and the cutest little wooden pizza cutter and we also got a wooden fish dinner - we're having a bit of a food and drink theme to presents at the moment! but they are lovely.
Hugs to those who need or want one and take care X0 -
Sorry to moan(its not really meant to be, more a case of being sad at how difficult things are for many...)
I need to use public transport which is an infrequent service, expensive to use(taxis even more so)I have just been fortunate to obtain a pass(which I could've had for years)I did not know.
As things change it could be a temporary perk if new rules mean I don't fit the conditions of entitlement and the threat of it being withdrawn at the next election continues.
Now with or without a pass here's an example of how difficult it is to travel on bank holidays/Sundays on the buses.
Mon-Sat you can travel with some changing of buses until approx 11pm.
But this Good Friday/Easter Monday(and any Sunday)only one service passes through my town.
The other one which is normally available Mon-Sat stops around 6pm-7pm. So if you are in that part of the area you have to take a detour of 12 miles, change buses and come back on the other service but the last bus on that route stops 7 miles from my town and does not complete the whole route and goes back to the garage.
So really the service is non existant every Sunday or at holidays when a family might want to attend a special event. The bus companies can say its due to a lack of passengers but if the prices were reduced and the service improved just maybe people would use them again..if not they could go back to the present model and say...we tried.
It might even be an idea to run more buses during the Summer and fewer in the Winter when people perhaps feel vulnerable with the dark nights/bad weather especially the elderly/disabled.
All the best Stiltwalker enjoy your trip out with your family x"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Its always been fish in this house on Tuesdays and Fridays and of course that means Good Friday but dare I say I am going to eat chicken as I don't want to waste food.
I will try and do something a bit different as it is Easter..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Why dont you go down to your local library or to the park? I often do this and look about me and really take in my surroundings?
When I was a young single mum with two babies and no money - I always went out and did this as it broke up the day. Just a suggestion xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Well the sun is out here, still damn cold though but better than grey days.
Happy to report the kids are all off work this weekend so no early rising to ferry them to and from work. Having a quiet day apart from an earlyish visit from OH's newly found cousin who is researching the family tree. the 2 of them spent a couple of hours sat at the table with the lappy chatting and laughing while I pootled about. Hubby has a very tiny family and has always felt a bit adrift because of it but now feels anchored to some thing - wonderful thing this tinternet
off to make tiny easter eggs for DGS and generally be lazy.
Stiltwalker, lovely news about your tinies. have a lovely time at the farm. I love them but our local one is a bit boring now and DGS gets round it in a few minutes. think we will have to find a new one. We do have a donkey sanctuary very near by though and thats a fab place. I am hoping we can get DGS a ride or two as its for children with disabilities and on a good day he has tried horse riding and liked it. He seems to like animals more when he is with me than with Mummy and Daddy as I adore the animals and he gets caught up in my silliness :rotfl:Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Thanks Molly...I often do and now whilst I have a pass I could in theory ride around just to fill time and it is warm too. The best and biggest park is approx 7 miles away(may go there when the weather picks up)mixed feelings I suspect as I spent a lot of time there with Mum and Dad as a child and when I was able to drive/afford a car I used to take Mum there.

Ginny its funny how a lot of our kids seem to have an affinity with animals and it's such a wonderful thing how some animals seem to instinctively know that they are different..Rosiedog is currently superglued to her young master as we speak lol
Stiltz so glad you're able to get out and about still with the littlies must be getting a bit old now all that snow!! Fun when it first arrives but my god I've never known weather like it.We are so fortunate here we haven't really had any to speak of.
Not much doing here today boys are all enjoying just flaking out on their various electronics as per usual.
DS3 is going to do some buns with me shortly
Hope you all have a great day XX0 -
stiltwalker - you have a lovely day planned am sure you will all enjoy yourselves:)
Ginny - where is the donkey sanctuary? We have visited a few when we have been away and the kids loved them - but we have never managed to find one close enough to visit normally.
I have been up early so managed to get out to the farm shop for my fruit and veg, then onto Ald! for bread and milk - its incredibly quiet out there today which I wasnt expecting, usually Easter weekend its manic but even outside is child free.
I have everyone set to work on clearing the house up - its really drifted in the last few weeks and its awful, so having a big tidy today hopefully means we are not going to be worrying all over the time off.:mad::mad:
My parents called yesterday and invited us to theirs on Sunday, am not impressed as I was hoping to avoid them totally, usually I do a big dinner for us all, three courses of home cooked food. BUt as I hadnt invited them they have taken the idea we should go to them - I did try to deflect with a ooh we are going on an egg hunt, but this just met with a you can come for tea then.
Am trying like mad to stay distant and not offend but they have harrassed me all week with guilt texts and calls - its driving me mad, as a consequence I am now more cross than ever so cant abide the idea of going, but if we dont there will be all out warfare which I would prefer to avoid.
And of course we will arrive to no nice dinner it will all be frozen party rubbish - it just seems so unjust.
SO have decided to make a good dinner on Monday and turn up last minute on Sunday, stay as little as possible and leave - if they start mithering I know I will snap and I am willing to accept that in order to gain some piece.
Pops - buses on holidays are a nightmare - we have a dial a ride scheme here for disabled and older people - it may be worth investigating now you have a pass.0
