    I'll ask around Jem...

It can't cost that much, I wonder where they will put it so it can be obtained.

  • Morning toughies, no snow here but it is grey and wet and bitingly cold. I hope all of you in the snow zone are able to stay in and keep warm but, if you do have to go out please take care and keep yourselves safe.

MAR you might want to rethink going to Arizona, DD1 has friends who have just moved there from Ithaca on the east coast, they posted on facebook this morning that they had just found their first poisonous scorpion in their bedroom this morning (luckily it was dead) and yesterday the university campus where they lecture was evacuated and shut down as there was a gunman on the loose, DON'T GO!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have a recipe for the spice mix that makes Speissbraten? It's a german pork roast done on the rotisserie but I can't locate a proper spice mix recipe for it, I'd love one if anyone can help please. Would love to make it on Easter Day as it's delicious!!!

FUDDLE hope you are enjoying the luxury of a day without such an early start. Hope your first week went well in the new job and that you can catch up on yourself over the weekend, look after yourself, Cheers Lyn xxx.

It is wild here - power flickering again. We're better off than Arran across the water - they expect the power to be off for 3 days but have sent over an emergency genny so the hotel can make soup etc for everyone. Glad those days are behind me!! It's bitter here though.

Right, off to bake while we still have power,

I've been to Phoenix - it was really windy the first time and the second time it was REALLY hot. I don't tend to do "too hot" but it really was - no one walks anywhere. There is a fab place there called "Mystery Castle" - google it, it's an OS ers dream.

We too have snow and lots of it in South Staffs. DD's school show has been cancelled - unheard of. My friend's daughter is having her 18th party today and loads of people have cancelled :( it's such a shame. I have to ice 50 cupcakes for it, nevertheless.

I don't intend going anywhere today...

It's salt, white pepper and ground nutmeg as well as the usual onions. At least it was at my Oma's house but she was from the far east of the country originally.

Afternoon toughies I have been managing to read posts but have never managed to catch up and post for days, its been so busy.

Have spare five minutes now to catch up with you all :)

I have to say I am exhausted and really wish the kids had finished school yesterday but we have four days left yet, its thick snow so my usual mad dash about town is impossible so no-one made it to school on time yesterday.
Things with OH have seriously deteriorated and its really not very pleasant at the moment.

Mardatha - does Bermuda not have a triangle to contend with?

No snow here - but a biting wind & heavy rain. Went to put some crumbs out for the birds & my back garden is flooded in places. Hope it drains away before the next lot comes in.
Had a baking day yesterday & made a Granny Cake. Couldn't remember if you had to turn it out or let it cool in the tin so looked up the original recipe that I got from a magazine. I looked at the back out of interest & it was from Womans Realm in 1968 - the year DS1 was born ;) He's asked me to scan it & send to him. The leaflet was 'Cheap Dishes in Disguise' nothing seems to change does it.
Hope everyone has a warm & safe weekend
Hi, can you share the recipe for Granny cake please?
