Can u ask a question? Just your views really. With my Psychology units etc and my interest in the subject seeing as I have my own issues I was wondering if doing the mental health awareness course mcculloch showed us would be too much down that route on a uni application and might skew from my getting my point across about my desire to nurse. I'm thinking too deeply aren't I? Maybe I should do medicine handling instead?
I know by the way, that I'm scrabbling about for little fixes to help me feel better. I know that and I'm sure you can see the too but... it worksI like to have plans to focus on. Right school run! Chat later x

On your personal statement for your UCAS application, you will need to demonstrate commitment to the subject area you are interested in. I believe - though it isn't my subject area - that ANYTHING in that line would support your application.

Possession wrote: »What a lovely attitude Lyn. I had a conversation with 3 11 yr old boys last night about who has what mobile phones in their class (Yr 6 primary school). Some of them have iPhones, Blackberries, Samsung Galaxies. My DS has just got a phone for his 11th birthday because that's when we'd planned he could have one, as when he starts secondary school he will be catching the bus 10 miles away. But his is a cheap PAYG phone and I HOPE he knows why - not just that we can't afford more but that it's ridiculous to pay £600 for a phone (IMO - apologies to those who did pay that much for a phone, horses for courses and all that). That stuff is not that important. Lessons like that, and not getting into debt, are just as important as teaching them how to cook and wash clothes I reckon.
I admit I was astonished when I overheard someone (not a rich someone) remark that their three kids all had i-phones. Kids are 6, 8 and 10 years old. Seems an unneccessary way of spending your hard-earned to me.
Fuddle, I'm sorry you didn't get in this year but can only applaud the good advice the others have given you. You'll get where you need to be because you've got the right attitude, you know you have to work and apply yourself, you don't expect life to hand you your heart's desire in a pretty parcel for free. To my mind, with the right attitude, we can achieve things we didn't believe were possible. Rooting for ya!
Loved MrsLW's positive attitude to simple OS living. Couldn't agree more. Yesterday I talked to my parents and my brother on the phone and was out all evening around a mate's. They have kittens. Cuddles and fussings all around. Cuppas, biscuits and baby cats, doesn't get much better than that IMO.
Flagging slightly as didn't get to bed til 11.30 last night (kittens being very lovable and all) so will struggle a bit today but all is otherwise well.

Morning Toughies anothr cold day in the workhouse as they say, I WANT SPRING!!!!!!! VJsMUM I think the world would be a very dull place if we all had the same likes and dislikes and interests and the thing that keeps it going most effectively is that we are all individuals. I love it that you do the smart and beautiful things in life and make the world brighter by doing so, it's just me, and I've found out what I personally value and just don't feel the need for more than I've got, I am content with my lot, on my patch with my man (and doggie of course!) and my friends. I am lucky to live in a very nice place and have everything conveniently close to home, I know how privileged we are here, I am a very lucky woman. Have you a really good day pet, and everyone else as well, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Morning all. I had wonderful baby snuggles last night from 4month old cousin. He is so cute! While i was cuddling baby i also handed over a job application form my cousin had got me for a cleaning job. Its 2 hours a night, 10 - midnight:eek: (im normally in bed by 10.30). I really hope i get it as it will mean i can keep on homeschooling my youngest and support my eldest too. Not to mention being home for my other two children too. That is really important to me - being home for my children.
Today is tidy the house day as it is looking dreadful. At least the hamster has now gone to my daughters flat so im not pushing its cage around the floor while i hoover.0 -

LOL - I think you have me muddled up with a smart and beautiful person!I do the rushing round and harrassed things in life! My attitude to it all has changed though - when I stopped caring about office politics and stopped feeling so hugely ambitious things kind of fell into place. I do my job because it is flexible and it pays well for the hours I do. Sometimes (at the moment) it is extremely busy and, yes, sometimes I've jetted off to glam locations though it can be lonely doing that. The positives outweigh the negatives and, one day, it will be gone and that is OK too. In the next few years I hope that OH and I will be like you (minus the doggy for us!) happy to be where we are and fortunate to be able to enjoy it. You have a great day too.
I am very much looking forward to Friday - psychologically March 1st is my favourite day of the year. I always breathe a sigh of relief that I have "made it" through another winter. Odd cos I know that we can still have some rubbish weather but i just "feel" better. Maybe it's my Welsh blood - St David's Day and all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning everyone, quite a nice day here. Still chilly but at least no wind or rain. DD is in collage at lunch time so we are chilling on the sofa. Next week i have all week off, so have lots planned. Firstly clean bathroom, and then repaint the walls. Will be using a mix of bicarb of soda and bleach as there is mould residue. Im sure someone mentioned it on here recently.
Wilkinsons have a major sale at the mo, curtains are £5 a pair, lots of bargains but i dont need nor do i have the money for.
TOMORROW IN THE MIRROR £5 voucher for ALDI. valid for a week,so if you shop on a thursday you could effectivly use 1 this week and 1 next week. Hope this is of help to some of you to stock up.

Morning all,
damp and chilly here, just feel like hibernating today.... spring won't be long now though! Been doing a few chores then felt absolutely ravenous (mixture of feeling cold, tired and hormonal I think) so have effectively just eaten lunch! Big plate of eggy bread, lots of tea and a couple of twinks whilst wrapped in my extra big dressing gown plus the heating on. Pure bliss...
Need to prise myself off the chair and go into town to run a few boring errands and then hopefully time to go CS browsing, in need of tops and jeans and going to look for some smarter clothes with all my new courses starting up soon. No need to dress smartly but I want to, new stage in life and all that.
nutty - thanks for the Aldee nod - I buy bulk of shopping there so will definitely get 2 vouchers. Good luck with the bathroom - I need to do our bathroom celing speckled with mould. Would you let me know if the mould solution works please?
Another positive step taken. I've booked myself on a 2 day speech therapy refresher workshop in a couple of weeks time. Its been nearly 20 years since I did some group speech therapy and the same brilliant speech therapists I know and love will be there plus a fellow student from the 90s who is now qualified as a SLT herself. If a person who stammers can train to be a specialist SLT, I can also have a successful career! Very inspiring.
My wonderful friend has agreed to look after my boys after school - she is the only one I feel 100% comfortable leaving DS6 with while DH and I are 1.5 hours away in London all day. I will treat her to something special afterwards - not sure what yet. I have asked school whether boys can attend breakfast club just for those 2 days and they are getting back to me. If they say no, I will ask the head and if still no, DH will have to go into work late and take them.
better stop rambling, hang washing and get myself out

Aaargh - this thread moves so quickly
Fuddle I think you are doing all the right things. I was a single mum for a while & had to postpone further education & then with DH we went through the 'three day week' more postponement. Finally managed it when I was 40 (my Mum said 'What do you want to do that for at your age - very supportive!) I got though - got a really good job eventually & feel my 2 DS's have had an example of never giving up - so you keep on girl. All your life experiences are money in your life bank.
Mrs L You always seem to sum up so well what a lot of us feel & congratulations to your DD who will look absolutely beautiful whatever she wearsSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Thanks SILVASAVA she has her own style my little one, not conventional but it suits her, she wears her hair in a wartime Gibson Roll and has classic grooming if you know what I mean? The little Tete a tete daffs in the garden have finally opened thier eyes this morning and have little yellow noses showing, I know it is still cold and claggy but, that is a little sign that spring is on its way, makes me happy. I have a smelly house today, eugh!!! It's because I've been steaming some unhappy cauliflower and broccoli that has been lurking at the back of the fridge, I'm going to make 3 or 4 dishes of Cauli Cheese to use up over the next few days, I love the taste, just NOT the smell!!!!! He Who Knows is up in the polytunnel digging for victory ready to start the new season. We put in some pointy nosed Hispi Cabbages in the autumn and they are beginning to grow on with the increasing daylight now, so they are going to be fresh and delicious at a time when most other things have been stored. The beetroot that has stood in there all winter is still nice too, so that's something we'll be doing again. Stay warm all, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
