McCULLOCH She talked to the Oxfam ladies and apparently a bridal shop closed in the town and donated all the stock that hadn't sold in the closing down sale to them, so thankfully no one is unhappy over this brand new dress, thanks for wishing it a happy ending, you're lovely, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

I don't part with a penny more than I have to, but if I HAVE to then I've saved enough by not being normal by everyone elses standards to have the cash to pay it!! I don't do fashion, hairdressers, make up, food fads, going out and living the high life (except the pub quiz once a week!) and we provide not only lots of our own food, but entertainment value for lots of folks who just don't understand. We have a good and comfortable life and don't in the least feel hard done by over anything, we look after friends homes when they jet off to somewhere exotic and feed pets, etc water greenhouses with nothing in our hearts but pity for them that they are not here enjoying life at home, you only get cynical and bitter pet if the lifestyle is forced on you and you value what others have that you don't. Me, I'm sorry for them because I'm the richest person I know I have home, friends, He Who Knows, my girlies and my Docky, all beyond price and I lack nothing of any value to me, Cheers Lyn xxx.
You sound like me ,we dont go out at nights, smoke , drink, fancy foods, hairdressers, clothes make up, etc.....Yet im quite happy and feel very secure because we own our own place after years of hard work.....
Weve never had credit cards, so we have no debts, only have what we can pay for.....My mother use to call hire purchase "the glad and sorry, "glad you got it but sorry you have to pay for it......:D
Got a £10 mobile phone from tescos 8 year ago, I do now have this lap top, it was bought for my birthday last november, and it really do feel up to date.........
I think its how your brought up with not much money no extras etc, thats makes us appreciate what we all have worked for......My parents never borrowed money when we were small, they just got through, and we went to bed at night with a full stomach and a hot bath....................
Glad I was brought up like that because its instilled in me...................
Its been a little bit warmer today because that dam raw wind has dropped, should be sunny and 8 degrees here tomorrow:T looking forward to it, get in the garden for a while............Sheila......0 -
I didn't get into university this year. I am really upset but it was always a long shot.
I'm going to go to college evening classes in September to do the adult preparation for uni study Access to Health course and reapply about November time for Sept 2014. At least I can say them I tried, I did something about it and now I'm back trying again. Hopefully it will let the tutors know I'm committed.
Oh bummer eh0 -
oh fuddle, what a disappointment!
You go for it in September, hun, then you'll be raring to go for the following year!
DS has suggested I sign on the dole when my job finishes - silly boy! In his defence he didn't realise it means I have to go to interviews, be looking for work, take the first min wage job - missing the point of why I'm quitting, dear child!Last day Thursday, can't wait, but I know I'll miss my colleagues. I may try for adult ed Sept of 2014 when DD goes to full time school, but we'll see.
Just found out that grown up (allegedly!) DD spent £93 then £60 on 2 hairdressing outings - OMG!!!

Sorry to hear that, great that there's something you can do at evenings classes to prepare for the next go,
These things have a way of happening for a reason, hard to see at present but I'm a great believer that everything falls into place eventually."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Sorry you've had that disappointment Fuddle. You'll be in a much better position next year after you've done your course though. I wonder if there are any other things you could do to improve your chances?
Poor DH has man flu. I can't really help as I have to go to London for a work lunch tomorrow, and he really feels he must go to work since a) he has loads to do and b) the threat of redundancy looms, he wants a perfect record. Luckily my PILs can pick up the children and feed them for me as I likely won't be home till their bedtime.0 -
Fuddle - there is more than one way to skin a rabbit. Lots of people get into Uni by doing access courses, it prepares them for the realities of academic work. You'll get there.
If anyone has any spare good wishes or healing vibes, then please point them in the direction of Papworth Hospital tomorrow as it's my dad's op day. I know he will be ok but you still worry, don't you?One life - your life - live it!0 -
Oh Fuddle... it was always a long shot, but you must be disappointed. What with you and one of our OS regs being disappointed too it's not been a brilliant week.
