Still cheating here and using up boxes of cup a soups...think I may have one in a few minutes :) Ahh Hamsters...think I had a couple when I was very young and also a gerbil. Didn't bother too much with pets now I think about it...biggest pet I ever owned and longest I had one was a rabbit that lived approx 9 years.

Well I rarely see a politician around here and TBH even though I am open and friendly...if I hear a knock on the door I do all I can to avoid getting caught.

Because of a lack of family/friends it is 99% someone will want to sell me something. No one bothers to put a card through the letterbox any more. Odd occasions that I decide I may open the door(I get a good view from the bedroom window)I am amazed how they often disappear so quickly and often can't be seen. How do they do that?

I doubt any politician would be welcome here as they are all seen as the same. I'm afraid that it is doubtful any of those in power at present would be received in a friendly way:p

There are fruit trees in £stretcher - plums and cherries and apples and pears (oh my!) - but not dwarf varieties.

I love hamsters! I had quite a few when I was young - all but the last one were super friendly. The last one thought that I was the pet!

Fuddle - its possible your meter hasnt been read, we had an issue when we swapped providers and they based my end bill on a meter readers reading apparently, after much calling and complaining that I was 100% sure no one had read my meter they admitted that there is a national database type thing, it estimates readings based upon others in the area. My gas usage was way under the estimates.
It took a few weeks but we finally sorted it.

One advantage of being miles from anywhere is you get very few callers....

Got dinner on, shepherds pie with some YS lamb mince from Ald! Loads of fat came off  So gave the hardier of the two dogs some dry biscuits with a bit of it over the top (the other one got gravy) went down well, poor puppies I think they are feeling the cold, the bigger, always hungry one is permanently even more hungry! We are have cabbage with it, and I made a pot of soup with one of those mixed bags of grains and pulses that are quick cook for tomorrow and some vegetable bits and bobs that needed using so I have lunch for when DD comes to help me cook tomorrow, and I've got a christmas pudding steaming for dessert.

Saw my grandsproglet wiggle on Thursday...I went in with DD and her BF for her scan :D Which was very nice.

Been chasing about like a headless chicken today though, as I've lost a purse with my market shopping float in, worse than that, I think it had £40 in  But I'm not sure. Sometimes I worry I am actually loosing the plot... :( Can't find the purse anywhere, all three of us have looked now. Sometimes things 'dissapear' here and then turn up in strange places. I shall have to have a stern word with 'Mrs H' later (she who used to turn the cooker on before we got gas with a safety knob!!!)

Apart from that...I am girding my loins for another day of cooking tomorrow, it seems to come around again MIGHTY fast.

Also wanted to ask the VEGANS out there if you've got any good recipes for cakes/bars/slices which aren't too unhealthy? Not loads of sugar, in the main. I've been asked to supply somewhere at the weekends, which would be a darn sight easier than doing another market myself...so I said I'd come up with some recipes and make some samples for them to try. Tks

  • KATE I can't seem to fill the lurcher up in this cold weather either, he's permanently on the scrounge for food which is so unlike him normally, have resorted to giving him bread and marge in the afternoons, sort of afternoon tea for goggies!!!

How lovely to have seen the little sproglet in the scan, must be magic, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Re clearing surfaces, decluttering etc - I keep trying to find ways to reduce the domestic clutter (my OH must be the world's fattest squirrel, he won't get rid of anything) so end up getting Kindle books on the subject for inspiration. End result? Said Kindle now cluttered up with numerous books.

Having read a fair bit about organising and decluttering and simplifying, I have come to the conclusion that the secret of success can be summed up with 4 letters - JFDI - Just Flipping Do It!
That will be my teeshirt slogan in another life.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
