    Morning all :)

Sorry I have been MIA for a while. I've been dealing with my black dog sitting on my feet and growling gently at me and my sinus infection refused to shift. I ended up at the Drs on Friday, got a 15 minute lecture on how antibiotics don't work for sinus infections and got them anyway as my blood pressure was too high for more decongestants. I went back to the shop yesterday and am feeling much brighter thank goodness.

Well done fuddle :T I knew you were going to get the money back.

Possession I hope your daughter gets on well at her new job :)

Katieowl I have everything crossed for your DD.

I got some good news yesterday. I've won a £500 B&Q voucher :D Just a pity I could spend it 10 times over, but it means I can get a new shower and either a new shed or front door. Our sheds are turning into compost and the front door is so draughty that it makes the living room much colder. DH and I have said that we will get someone to look at the door and see what needs doing. I'm hoping it just needs a new frame and that we can keep the good quality wood door.

Today is my DMIL's 65th birthday, so I need to finish her slipper socks at Knit and Natter. We are going to see her at the weekend and will have a family meal out on Sunday. Yeah.....meals I don't have to cook :D

Time for more tea and maybe some of the choc orange cake DS2 made on Sunday. He is turning out to be a good baker. I just need to get him cooking more main meals that don't involve masses of cheese and bacon.

Take care and many hugs to all (((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))

Sorry to hear you've been suffering SDG. I have no idea what he was on about with sinus infections though, antibiotics don't work on the virus, but once your sinus is infected they sure do work. Very big congrats on the B&Q voucher, what a stroke of luck. I've stripped a front door down previously, filled it and repainted it, it took a couple of days, but the end result was wonderful. So much so, last time I was in England I noticed it was still going strong, 14 years after I did it!

I forgot to tell you guys, before 10am today at the Charity shop I'd already managed to offend a customer. This chap was buying cookery books and said to me if I watched "My Kitchen Rules" a reality cooking show here. I replied no, I'd seen it once but found the contestants far too !!!!!y and impolite about each others cooking. Well, it turned out he's on it :rotfl:

Excellent! I've just had to wipe *another* cup of tea off my screen after reading that!

    Have a good day all.

:j Oh well done on your voucher, SDG, and may you enjoy the spending of it. Not so great that the old BD has been growling again. Here's hoping that he'll go away for a while.

:oSoftstuff, that's the sort of thing I would do, not having a TV and paying very little attention to popular culture. I've always thought it's only a matter of time before some self-important D list celeb crosses my path and does the Don't you know who I am?! bit and the answer would be errr no.

One of my pals has a pal who has been on Come Dine With Me and is apparently a bit full of themselves. Knowing the penchant that I and another mate have for merrymaking, we've never been introduced to protect this delicate media-flower from a right royal leg-pulling. *sigh*

Glad to offer you a chuckle, but I take no responsibility for tea on screens :o

Well, this show, so I'm reliably informed by the physios receptionist, runs with the same contestants for months.... so he's about at D-list status I suppose. They were very keen to know who he was, me I was unimpressed and unrepentant!

:oI'v actualy done that twice:o, when out drinking with friend's when I was younger, one was a footballer and he was trying to jump in front of me at the bar[good job I knew the barman] the second time it was a boxer:eek:. Must admit the boxer found it amusing, 'specialy as my mate's were swooning over him and I'm going 'who the hell are you?'. But the footballer was mad as heck, telling me who he was and who he played for. All he got back off me was 'oh you get over paid for kicking a bag of wind around':o, can tell I don't like football.:o

Hey SDG excellent win! I love wins that are useful :D

I didn't do anything to get my deposit back really. I've only got it because he hasn't sent his paperwork in. Still, a result.

I really need to get to the shops today but have to wait in for new LL to come look at the dishwasher that won't power up.

Looking forward to trying out that arm knitting scarf myself. :D I've been looking at crochet net bags for library books etc too. Loads of free patterns on ravelry.

Shepherds pie for tea (when I get to the shops, I bet I have to do it with kids in tow) and meal planning for the week.

Trying the intermittent fasting today. Breakfast consisted of 69 calories. Keeping busy with chores and with fruit tea's to keep my mind off it. 'tis difficult.

I don't know how the heck the government thinks that by reducing the amount of staff to look after our children in the UK is going to help us with our childcare costs. No nursery is going to reduce their fees! looking after 6 toddlers is easy... interacting with 6 toddlers in a way they deserve is not. Leaving it at that as I've been on my soap box far too much recently. :p

Two things make scones like bricks. Too much liquid and overworking the dough. Use a knife to cut in the liquid and work quickly to pull it all together then dump on a board or work surface then gently roll or pat to the thickness needed.Only use the exact amount of liquid stated and if the dough is very wet use less next time, making a note of how much you used. I use wholemeal so always need a little more liquid than recipes state because it is nearly always white flour they use.

My pet rant is that all the money wasted on the dome could have given us a state of the art railway system that was the envy of the world. What use is the dome now if it is even still there?

GQ, me too, I love speed. It's not at all grannylike. I love fast bikes, fast cars, and fast horses. The RV often tells me to act my age, and I say well I'm 9 :D
Re these Aldi vouchers, what papers are they in? I'm 10 miles from the nearest paper shop but could go there and then onto Aldi when I've got the voucher.
