monnagran, eliza what do you eat on a typical day when fasting?

Hi Fuddle:) This is my 1st fast day so I'm a novice but have stuck to the plan. At 7am I had a smoothie made up of 20grms Oats, 50 grams frozen strawberries, small handful of spinach (you can't taste it but its so healthy), half a banana, 50 grams yoghurt. 50 mls orange juice & 150 mls Alp*o milk. Total Calories 250, which was half my allowance. Then just water and herbal tea all day until around 5.30pm, when I had stir fried vegetables and a piece of baked cod. 250 Calories total and that was the last of my allowance (500 on fast days). I have just had water & herbal tea tonight and surprisingly I feel OK:)

I thought on that intermittent fasting thing that women were not supposed to go below 700? or is that men?

OOh DD will like that arm knitting Fuddle I just sent it to her.

I took her to the place that had the job this morning, and the woman practically dragged her in!!! She's got an hours trial on Friday, and if it goes OK she can start Saturday. She didn't tell her she was pregnant today, but we've talked about it, and she will say something on Friday... She's going to print some stuff off the internet about maternity leave and the such, which will let them know they won't be liable to pay her, as she'll not have been an employee long enough. She knows she doesn't have to tell them until she's 26(?) weeks, but she doesn't want any aggro. She's had enough of that for one year! She's going to say that she'd like to have a job after the baby if they want her, but that she'll take a six months contract if they want. Apparently they've been advertising for a cook since November, with no applicants? So they are going to just get in some kitchen assistants and hope someone can cook! They can't find anyone who can cook, use a computer and has customer skills!!! (DD has all three, and she's very good with elderly peeps!) So some candles and fingers crossed for DD would be lovely if you are so inclined! :)

I've cooked a lot less today. Lentil Shepherds pies, Rice pud with cinnamon apples, cheesecake, and prepped my filling for the pasties I'll make at 6am tomorrow. I've fished some cake and brownies out of the freezer, and will make a cornbread to take too I think (in the morning) It's horribly windy, but we will be inside again! Thank goodness!

Meme, I'm sorry you had to deal with an unpleasant jerk, but am overjoyed you stood your ground.

I'm sure not a fan of Aldi over here. It's dearer than the other supermarkets own brands (though when claiming it's cheaper they always compare to branded foods and people seem to swallow that). I've bought fruit, meat and bread that have gone off in hours and the staff are as miserable as sin (surprising considering the wages).

Hotpot is yummy Fuddle, be brave!. Congrats on the deposit return, it had to happen in the end.

Cheese scones frighten me. They're known as rock buns in this house.
Mine are known as biscuits and not in the American way. There are three things I can confess I can't cook. Scones, an omelette and poached eggs. This isn't a request for tips either, since I've read em all and luckily enough, hubby does the first 2 admirably.

I've always wanted a go on one of those tank driving thingies but have never had money to burn on such delightful frivolities.
If I ever have a spare bucket of cash GQ, I'd buy you one, just so I could see the mad glee on your face while you do it.

Fingers crossed for your DD Katieowl, it sounds like she's the best possible applicant for them.

It'll be a cold day in hell before you find me fasting. Without my full 3 meals a day I'm kranky as hell and reflux bad enough to turn me into a fire breathing dragon kicks in.

  • Fuddle love the arm knitting! My eldest made me some massive knitting needles from some old bed-posts - they're 4 inches across - they're square with pointed ends - and really fun to knit with!! I make up a massive ball of wool from about 20 single balls.

Fuddle: I was so excited when I heard that your LL had his comeuppance, I quite forgot to be dignified and pranced round the room thumbing my nose and chanting "Ya Ya De Ya Ya." Don't try to picture it, it wasn't pretty.

My fasting day - Sh! I don't eat breakfast. I exist on water and black coffee - I always drink my coffee black anyway - until lunchtime when I have a large salad with a sandwich made of 2 thin slices of a small loaf, spread with Light Philly and 3 slices of Turkey Ham. In the evening I usually have something like a boiled egg with 2 crisbreads. The Rev often has a small piece of fish, a small handful of rice and a lot of salad or vegetables. Then we both finish up with a bowl of sugarfree jelly. I drink water, black coffee and peppermint tea. I am gradually assembling various meals and snacks containing only 100 or 200 calories.
You don't want to know what I eat on my non-fasting days, although the day after a fast I find that I'm eating much less than usual.
    Easy Peasy.

Possession - how did you find out about the £5 Aldi voucher? Is it a facebook job too? TIA

Fuddle - I love that knitting link, too! My few aims/resolutions for this year include teaching myself to crochet and improving my knitting to the level that I can make something useful and recognisable! :D

Nutty, i'm another ex white van girl! I normally drive largeish cars and can reverse and parallel park no bother......as long as I don't stop to think what i'm doing, then it all goes to pot! Autopilot is fine though.:o

Didn't go for a swim, took the pooches out and decided it was way too cold and blowy so had a long soak in the bath instead. :o
OH made me mac cheese for tea and I got both fishtanks and the hamster cleaned out and my case mostly packed for work tomorrow.
