Missed that Mrs V P(not stiltwalker, oops sorry) , thanks for quoting bluebag.

The teacher has shown her ignorance there I'm afraid. She's not at all seen the little one as an individual, not at all identified his strengths/weaknesses /likes/dislikes/struggles/coping strategies. Sorry she hasn't had the common sense in knowing what not to say professionally. A teacher, a good caring, committed teacher, would not have said that to the parents... let alone think it. :(

For what it's worth, even though Ritalin and the like is a very good tool when dealing with the behavioural side of ADHD, it is a frustrating drug to deal with. The child you're working with loses some personality. That part of it is really sad. ADHD medication enables a child who can't conform to classroom expectations, conform. This enables his/her support worker to go do photocopying for the teacher. Sorry, I know a very cynical view but I'm afraid it happens and extremely often. It's part of the reason why I quit.

    Why thank you VJsmum :o

Its 'cos I whistle at work when am in a good mood. Which is quite annoying in an open office environment, apparantly :rotfl:

And when I joined MSE (just noticed - SEVEN years ago?? What??_pale__pale_) I was ....between homes... shall we say.... following a bit of a c**k up when purchasing my house - felt like a bit of a gypsy with all my worldly goods in my mates 7.5T van :D

(I like how it sounds when you say it too.)

:jHello y'all - pleased to meetcha. I'm Whistling Gypsy and I can be Very Shallow :p. I read this and the SHTF thread every day - I feel like I know most of you already and have laughed and cried with you all over the months and years, so thank you from a serial lurker :o

Ah the whistling gypsy came over the hill....how I loved this sung to me when little, and I in turn sang it to my own when wee.
You've brought a big smile to my face tonight - hope you keep with us in here :):)
  • No need for a corkscrew in this house....just pop out the bung of the latest Demijohn.....currently a 2010 Elderberry - bring a glass or a mug and help yourselves :D.
(There would have been cheese scones to accompany - but the gannets at work hoovered them up with alarming speed this morning, sorry:p)

Thanking you for the welcomes...I've always maintained you are a splendid bunch:D

Fuddle - spooky - I was born and bred in Segga too (Before your time I think - went to St B's School in the 70's!!!). Yikes - it is a mighty small world:eek:.

Boyes sell EVERYTHING :D including wool :rotfl:

(PS Have been looking at the Lakeland website, seeing as how you mentioned it, I thought it only polite, and they have 3 for 2 on enamel cookware. Hmm - that makes them just about on a par with Boyes - if you are ever near the A Centre and can pop in? Otherwise maybe a free delivery code?)

Think it's Ginny that you mean with the grandson and the car seat! I'm only 35 and would have had to have children disgracefully young to have a grandson of that age!!! In fact DD is not 4 until March.

Speaking of DD - she's had her first sledging experience today and may I say it was not a total success! Did you like it? yes, Was it scary? yes, do you want to go again? errr no - cue tears! Think it was a case of sensory overload - she is remembering it as exciting though so hopefully not too traumatised!!

Snowed again, not too much so far but apparently we're supposed to get a load overnight - hope not as would really like to go to the private view of the exhibition that my Mum has some work in over at Clitheroe but won't risk it if the roads are bad. DD loves to look at art work - she has a real definate opinion on what she likes and equally doesn't like and it is so funny walking her round with her proclaiming 'like', 'no like' in such a serious maner at the various pieces!

Welcome Whistling gypsy - come on in and put the kettle on - hang on it's Friday night and it has been a VERY long week - crack open the HM wine!!!

Hugs where needed or wanted. Timothy and your honking - we'll miss you!

ETA - I see you've already popped the HM wine WG - cracking - I foresee a long and happy friendship - hic!

Whey Aye Fuddle, man - a knaa what yer mean like!

JUST for crumble? Where's the rolleyes smillie when you need it?? Versatile, lady. They are multifunctional, cheap, light, washable and foolproof (I should know ). I swear you'll be back for more.
Mine are used for sausages/Toad int hole, roast veg/taters, shepherds pie, roast chicken....you name it :)

I hope I haven't given anyone the impression the wine flows freely in this house as a matter of course...no? Champion :D
    Refill, Stiltwalker.....hic?

Moving swiftly on.....thank you again for the welcomes and take care in the freezing/icy/snowy/windy/flooded/heatwave conditions we are now or soon to experience on these shores.....

Oh - and as honesty is the best policy i feel I should be upfront and admit I am a luddite and a technophobe with a short attention span and a new found obsession with Pinterest :o. If I am remiss in my thankings, greetings, acknowledgements and hugs I apologise in advance and beg forgiveness:(.
And my typing speed is approx 2 wpm :o

  • Thanks all but rest assured my sister is one tough cookie and will not be pushed into medicating her son unless she truly believes that is would be the best thing for him. Her eldest son needed to be medicated but the two boys are very different and have very different needs.

It has snowed and everywhere looks lovely. Have had about 2 inches of snow so far in the last house and a half and it is still coming down thick and fast.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

I had my first child at 32, my best friend from primary school became a grandmother the same year!!

I have two of those enamel pie dishes (I know, there I go showing off again! :D) a big one and a small one - from Lakeland. Be warned though, as anyone on the 5 OS pleasures thread know - if you make a pie, you have to write "YUM" on it with pastry letters. It's the law..

Hello can everyone please cross fingers, toes, arms, legs, pray, meditate or whatever else they do to engender positive vibes at 10am tomorrow? I have a call to confirm new mortgage deal which should save me £65 a month. This will help make a bigger faster dent in the atrocious debt of DH.

No wine here, sorry can offer lemon and hot water. Partly in preparation for tomorrow's call and also as having Jan and poss Feb off the booze, just to prove I can and also to remove a spare tyre.

Hope you all stay safe and well. Cold here but had heated foot warmer (little old lady look) on, very nice way of heating up tootsies

Off to get bread maker ready for am loaf.
