  • Hi - just popping on re enamel baking tins - I get mine from Boyes Fuddle - IIRC sure you have them in your part of the world - am from a few miles North of you (near C le S) and there's a Boyes there. Or Boysies as we used to call it. Sometimes Boy-ez :-)

They have a good range of the blue and white enamel stuff - lipped plates, mugs, oblong roasters, pudding basins etc - in quite a few sizes too. have had mine for years and bought a couple of 'spares' of the oblong tins over Christmas - just because they are so versatile and easy to use/clean.

I love Lakeland and would hate to deny anyone an opportunity to shop there.....but Boyes are cheaper and just as good quality for these here tins my lass. And their sale starts on Friday :-) (No, I don't work for them either!!)

Hope this helps - off to make a crumble in mine now :-)

stiltwalker glad you got the car seat sorted with your grandson.

    Rant alert:mad:
I had a chat with one of my sisters last night she has 5 kids 7-21yrs. Her 17yr old has ADHD and the problems she has with him are endless. Her youngest son 8yrs is just about to be assessed as also being ADHD but to a lesser extent and she has spoken to his teacher about it this week. The teachers response  oh good now you can get him medicated as we are too short staffed to deal with him. Since when has medicating a child been the first port of call before anything else has been tried? My sister manages him at home and does not want to medicate him. Sis knows he does not cope well with writing but copes well with a keyboard and is a smart kid but knows that he will not get a keyboard to help him at primary school and will have to wait for secondary school for that. I know she will get this all sorted out but i was incensed on her behalf.

Had a trip to A&E with DD today as she went over on the ice and hurt her right arm/shoulder. It was so painful and swollen I was convinced she had fractured it but fortunately there were no breaks. I have discovered that not only can I do the taking a bra off without taking your top off but can also put one back on the same way too. :rotfl: Anyway she is all rugged up the chair with a sling and lots of painkillers on board. Not looking forward to getting her T shirt off later.

It is freezing here tonight and is trying to snow again. I do not plan on going outside at all before work on Monday.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Its warmer tonight indoors Fuddle, I ventured out but I suspect had I been out much longer I'd have been struggling with the cold too and yes we've had more snow. Ok I admit I have my extras on(thermals etc...)

I was about to say I can avoid going out but if the brass band concert happens and is not called off tomorrow night I will be venturing out again.

Whistling Gypsy, There is a Boyes in my town and two neighbouring towns approx 7 miles from and many more around here so hopefully there is one near Fuddle, there used to be...It appears that there are six nearby.

    This may help...

Mrs VP- your sister does not need to disclose an ADHD diagnosis to school - currently here any child with an ADHD diagnosis is "encouraged" by schools to be medicated. Schools are heavily pushing it - but its not actually declareable, your sister can refuse to share the details of his condition with school and instead request the professionals only share relevant not labelling facts of his condition and what school should do to deal with it.

Its a common theme and with ADHD its worse, our caseworker offered to look at a dual diagnosis for DS8 to include ASD and ADHD but she warned me that if I did not want to medicate I would be better not to go that way.

Which is also a possibility for your sister, to request a no label policy, in that he is looked at and his condition is analysed but no label attached, he could t hen be educationally statemented but with no official diagnosis. School cant push for medication if he doesnt have the label.

Its so hard and schools make me so cross, they seem to feel that the child only exists in a school setting and that a parents job is to simply ensure that schools life is unhampered.
  • Why thank you VJsmum :o

Its 'cos I whistle at work when am in a good mood. Which is quite annoying in an open office environment, apparantly :rotfl:

And when I joined MSE (just noticed - SEVEN years ago?? What??_pale__pale_) I was ....between homes... shall we say.... following a bit of a c**k up when purchasing my house - felt like a bit of a gypsy with all my worldly goods in my mates 7.5T van :D

(I like how it sounds when you say it too.)

:jHello y'all - pleased to meetcha. I'm Whistling Gypsy and I can be Very Shallow :p. I read this and the SHTF thread every day - I feel like I know most of you already and have laughed and cried with you all over the months and years, so thank you from a serial lurker :o

    Evening all,

Welcome to Whistling Gypsy: normally we ask the new girl to put the kettle on, but given that it's Friday evening a cork-screw might be more useful;)

KatieOwl - I like a challenge so I spent part of my lunch-time googling "council tax child dependent" and "council tax non-dependent" but I have to admit defeat - your form had me beaten.

Well done Ginnyknit - it sounds like DGS is getting used to his new car-seat

And hugs to MrsVP and your sister, what a horrid thing for the teacher to say.

Thanks for all the advice about gas hobs - I have a couple of recommendations of good local gas fitters so will start making enquiries and see whether it is plausible (both cost- and disturbance-wise).

And I now have a day-old blog. But it'll take a while before I dare reveal it to the world.

Have a good Friday evening all.

School is not in any way qualified to offer a medical diagnosis or suggest any form or treatment. That is solely the role of the doctor dealing with the patient.

No matter how young each and every patient is entitled to doctor patient confidentiality, this is something ALL doctors adhere to rigidly. It would require a court order for any information to be given to any other party without express consent.

In a lot of instances, once started, medication can't be stopped, so it needs to be a well considered and informed decision.
