  • Lisakay give it a go, you sound more than capable.

I have completed the practice online tests and I am now in panic mode. The maths test was timed, 18 questions over 25 min. I only completed 6 that time and got 2 of them wrong . I completed the logic and reasoning tests within the time scales and got 3/4 of them correct but they were very difficult pattern sequences (find the missing one) which were hard to spot. Mr VP is going to go through the practice maths test with me to help calm me down a bit.

The frustrating thing is that I have to be very logical in my current role and all of the people on the interview panel have worked with me know this but are not going to see it reflected in my test results.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

ouch, kidcat x hope the painkillers work quickly.
DD has not been sick ans she's now snoring contentedly on my knee. the dog is curled up next to me snoring and DH is lay on the other sofa...flipping snoring!!! best get the little lady back up to bed. she'll not wake up now before dd1 gets her up in the morning. she loves her sleep :)

mrsvp, try a couple of practice tests at different times of the day to see when u perform best, you will probably find you do much better now you know the timings and the format of the questions xxx

MrsVP - lisa is right, find your best time and have a go then, also maybe google a simialr type of test and practise with those too. Good luck:)
  • Thanks Kidcat but I actually live in the W Midlands, just travel 70miles to work. My company send carers all over the country (travel expenses paid).
I was seriously thinking about going back to hourly paid 'home care' as such. Problem is it would mean a big drop in money (about a third of wages) and we would have to run a second car so at the moment a no go. I just need to grin an bear it. Thanks for the thoughts guys though, it is good to have somewhere to 'vent'.

Fuddle best advice I can offer is to take your time and give yourself loads more room in stopping distances (recommended is 10 times further than on dry roads) Don't let anyone else on the road bully you into otherwise.

Fuddle - sorry I totally forgot to reply to your earlier post re driving (its these painkillers - I forgot to call my dad back earlier he was not impressed) driving in icy conditions you need to make sure you have a good set up in the boot, drinks blankets etc, carry deicer and a shovel and all the usual extras.
For actually driving though, leave in plenty of time, accept that you may end up being late if need be. Take your time, and leave lots of extra space between you and the car in front.
If you look at the RAC and AA web pages they have loads of really good advice too.

I know kittie had done a driving course with icy conditions covered she gave some excellent advice last year when we were all getting nervy about driving - maybe you could PM her too. :)

    A lot has happened lately.

I changed jobs in Dec and housing haven't told me my new rent payment yet. Although they did say ut would not be a lot different from the old amount.
And I finally broke contact with my mother on Christmas eve. she has a drink problem and has always been abusive. She phoned on CE drunk and I just snapped and told her to leave us alone.

As weird as it sounds, I think some of my fears are from being on here. So many people going on about Universal Credits and the price of utility bills etc. I normally just take things as they come, but so many threads get you thinking the worse. Which is daft as I know worrying won't change anything. :o

This isn't actually that weird. I avoid many of these types of threads for this very reason. It makes me panic about things, fuels my anxiety and worry about apocalyptic events, especially when people are talking about packing bug out bags and the like  then there are the predictions about economy, food prices.....I know folk mean well and I appreciate how many are living hand to mouth but personally I avoid the news and the papers for the same reason. The depressing attitude sucks the life out of me :o

So have a hug, it does sound like you've had a lot on your plate. Also does sound like lack of control might be feeding your worries, you've stated you can't cut back anymore and prices rising leaves you no room for manoeuvre which might leave you feeling out of control.
Stick to the threads you know aren't fuelling your anxiety and go see your GP x

Fish week - in your absence may not just be tuna sandwiches= she may rise to the dizzy heights of fish fingers ( not home made and hand crafted but captain B's finest!!!)

Not much consolation but she will run (or not run) the place into the ground eventually which is sad but not your or dd's problem.

DD's 19th birthday today so have been rushing around as she goes back to uni tomorrow. Will miss her but want her to have choices etc.

Sorry you are being taken for granted but client is going to have a shock if roads are closed, car won't start or shelves are empty because of severe weather. Is there any way you can smuggle in a loaf, milk and eggs for yourself so at least there is something in?

    Lisakay

You can do this - not the way you would choose with a chance to prepare etc - but you are sensible, clear thinking and responsible and that is a lot in itself.
