But ladies, have you ever seen the Scr*wFix catalogue? Or Axminster T00ls.
*sigh*
It's probably genetic with me, my Mum's the same; we'd rather go shopping for hardware than clothes.
This is the woman whose sixtieth birthday present from me was a pillar drill. She was totally made up and so was I; she was with me when we got it and I didn't have to wrap the burger.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Oh Fuddle ..... it's a slippery slope from now on, you know .... my sister says you know when you're getting old as you find a catalogue and think, "Oooh, I can have a look through that with a nice cup of tea later on." I find myself doing this even with the Aldi special buys leaflets. There is no hope ..... :rotfl:
Greyqueen - my friend told me she was seriously thinking of getting me some WD4O for my birthday as I love useful things. The only reason she didn't was because she reckoned I'd already have some. She was right! My favourite shop is Clas Ohlson, which has a whole department devoted to different screws, boating hooks and the like. I find it fascinating. The rest of my family think I'm nuts. They once had to buy me a hammer for Christmas as it was top of my Christmas list ....Aspire not to have more but to be more.

I've never been in there and will now be tempted..........now an old fashioned ship chandler..........
ETA my Xmas gift one year was a mattock. They let me have it early (we got it from Axminster, free postage even tho it weighed a tonne because Mum treated herself to a Dremmel which she won't let me borrow to cut into a stainless steel cutlery drainer to make my hobo stove). It's no fun when people won't let you play with their best toys.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Oh no..... I do this already and I'm 32! The Aldi and Lidl catalogue are kept for later in the car when waiting for school to get out. Oh dear, am I sad?"A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others" Barnyard the children's film.

Thanks Mary I have been looking at Toyota and the Yaris is a definite possibility - will get DH to sit in an Aygo but I suspect he will say it's too small (a man thing!). As some know my MIL runs a sandwich shop and a local car dealership running a few different forecourts including Toyota is their biggest customer. Not only would we like to put business their way but if we get an introduction from FIL we stand a good chance of a nice discount. Only problem is, from the look of their website they mostly handle cars which are newer - and therefore pricier - than we were thinking of. Can't investigate properly yet as PILs have just gone on a week's holiday.Possession when I found out I had glaucoma I absolutely freaked out over parking because I didn't trust my side vision. So as we needed a second car anyway, we went for a Toyota Aygo. I love that car, it's given me back my confidence and it's so cleverly designed - it's 4 door so perfect for giving 3 teenagers a lift and although the boot is tiny it's laid out so that I can fit 4 big supermarket bags for life in - a whole week's shopping. And I can park it easily. It doesn't feel at all poky in the front and I've had one or two lanky friends of DD in there. £20 a year road tax and 40mpg on short journeys (shopping, station, school run - all the little S journeys)
If that is still a bit small for what you want I would suggest having a look at the next model up, the Toyota Yaris - hope this helps0 -
Thrifty - me too, theres always a lidl/aldi leaflet in the car and usually a Mr A magazine too.:rotfl::rotfl:0

They may get cars on trade in which they would just send to auction if they are too old to sell themselves. If a good one comes in they might pass it your wayIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
