When I was not a dirty rotten bankrupt my cars were always Toyota Yaris'. Fab little things but DH always looked a bit, you know? And he's only 5ft 5. It might be a bit too, dare I say girly? DH had the Toyota Corolla a few years back though, that was quite a small car but not too bad for a bloke.
edited to share: just read that camomile tea bags soaked in cold water for 5 minutes works wonders on under eye bags... not that us Toughies would have any0 -

We used to have a Toyota Verso and it was lovely! But not small. Thing is, he can't have it both ways. If he wants a small car - and bearing in mind we can't be buying a sports car - then it isn't going to be particularly manly. He may have to sacrifice his manliness to be able to park easily! We'll see. I predict much dithering and wringing of hands.0 -
Ask any garage about direct trade outs or which auctions they use, got a 6 year old c1v1c as too old for their forecourt which needed a new wing mirror (Parkin incident) and had a couple scratches but previous ONLY owner was elderly and occasionally misjudged when parking mechanically great, paid £125 plus fees, sold it 5 years later for £500!!!!!!Start info Dec11

Ford Ka would suffice hehe. When we had our first DD, DH drove the works van and I had the 'family' car. We got the Toyota Avensis. That car was a monster and regularly driven by me, backwards into the garage door.
I've been been drooling over Fair Isle knitting patterns. Oh boy, I do wish my knitting skills were up to that standard. I love fair isle.
Off I go to bed with my crochet hook and chunky yarn to rustle up some mittens for myself. I know my ability level. Goodnight friends, i'll be reading but on my phone so won't comment.0 -
Oh second for Ka, the original style ones are so much fun and cheap as chips to run maintain as it is timing chain driven rather than belt driven! but check for rust where seat belts attach to sills, known to rust there!Start info Dec11

Fair isle isn't that hard - it is just a question of weaving in the colours you aren't using like you would if you were joining a new ball of wool. It is more the organisation you need to keep on top of the pattern. I knitted myself a fair isle cardi when I was 17 - can't believe they are back in the shops now.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

I do, well it's more dark circles but I put that down to having kidney problems.
I decided to return some items to the NHS that Mum had like a comode, back rest etc...but I had been told that with my health(mobilty issues)I could use items like a seat that lowers you into the bath and a kind of frame around the toilet and a raised toilet seat(extra height)by the person who gave Mum them 2-3 years ago.
Today they asked for everything back unless, I am reassessed(and they could be transferred into my name and I was not too keen as I don't like being caught up in officialdom so I said take them back but I think I would like to keep those. They do help me so I may risk an assessment and arrange one.
I like the extra height on the toilet(without it seems too low and being higher it easier to get up on the knees and the frame also helps when sitting down. Also climbing into the bath is not as easy as it was...it is easier to be lowered into it on a seat.
Without I would have to hold onto the sink next to the bath.
I saw my Dr and he put my mind at rest over the loss of Mum and thinks I am doing OK so does not want me on AD's...he thinks I should stay put and would gain nothing by moving even if it was a smaller property because they are few and I am near to everywhere(saving in bus and taxi fares to get around)he advised against doing voluntary work as it os a minefield and the help I get could seriously be affected. He has seen too much of what happens.
He says I have serious medical problems that will not go away(the underlying inference suggested they will become worse:()
He also has put on my records that he thinks I should have a holiday and if I do(and they give me grief over it)he will make his opinion known...
He did not seem too keen on me having a lodger but I have talked to HA today and the council(Fuddle and myself come under)seem to have gone for a fairer plan than some(I don't understand their plans but instead of coming after the disadvantaged they plan to get the money by taxing empty properties)
The Bedroom Tax and water rates will cost me approx £30 per week but I may still be able to absorb that but they have no objection if I can get a lodger and if I could get someone decent I would only have to pay for the one unused room...so that would be better.
We'll see...the person I was talking to(working for the HA is approx the same age as me)and in a similar situation."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

We have a Skoda Octavia which is a willing work horse, very comfortable and economical to drive. Previous to that we had the smaller but equally well performing Fabia, both estates and with seats that fold down for big loads. Super cars, very good value and reliable too, Cheers Lyn xxx.
Oh boy, it's 10.32 pm and there are still mortar type fireworks going off with alarming regularity, don't people have any idea of what is acceptable any more? The poor dog is still under the desk and trying to make a hole in the wall to get away from it, I'm cold and tired and just getting a little bit angry with the whole fireworks thing tonight, Lyn x.0 -
BT is a minefield for families too...I heard today that if you have for example two children, they are expected to share a bedroom until they are 10 years old even if they are male and female. And if they are the same gender, if one was say 1 year old and the other is 15 they would still be expected to share a bedroom.
It is going to cause all kinds of problems for many I suspect.
I went to the organised fireworks display...wish that I hadn't, I heard many say it was disappointing this year. What's the betting that is due to cutbacks. Someone said another in a neighbouring town had been cancelled. I had all my extra clothes on, thermals, socks, gloves, coat, hat etc..and I was still frozen. I was also tired and exhausted as the route to reach the display wasn't easy...It was free but I used a bus one way(only two stops)that cost £1.10.
I could not put up with the walk back to a bus stop and standing for up to an hour to get the bus back so got a taxi(£4) so a free night ended up costing me £5.10 in total. I could hardly stand and was getting back ache.
When I came home I put the CH on, had a hot cup of coffee and climbed into bed with a hot water bottle for my feet. I have put extra blankets on the bed and I am quite cosy tonight, I still have my thermals, gloves, hat, scarf and gloves on though. Don't think that I will go again..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I still don't understand why such a fuss was made over giving that Gift Aid form out but if there was no instruction written or other wise it seems wrong that SDG was criticised.
It should not happen(especially when a customer is in a CS)but I have lost track of how often disputes between staff or talk about business is discussed within earshot of the customer."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
