Sheila (have I remembered your name correctly?
How long will your coal last you? I pay £100 per month for my gas. If it's good for the mood then go for it. I can hear the cracklesthe next time you put a shovel of coal on, do it for me

It's funny Cheaps, all this talk about being non religious and eldest DD says she believes in God, that he's magical and can do things by throwing a ball of power to the earth. My girls aren't christened as we wanted to let them make their own minds up (much to families disgust as they wanted a knees up) so whatever her beliefs are, so be it. I'm not looking forward to further conversations though as I don't know what to say.
I really have to go make spag bol now. Till laterx

Then I opened a letter addressed to DH and found a "Notice of Intended Prosecution" as he got caught doing 38mph in a 30mph zone. In his defence it was at about 2am and the sign wasn't lit. So he didn't realise until the camera flashed at him. The worse point in our marriage was caused by him speeding two too many times and his job being at risk. It was a hellish six months waiting to see if he would lose his licence and his job and it nearly destroyed us.
He may get to go on a speed awareness course for that sort of speed. Same price as the fine - more or less - but you lose the points. I went a couple of years agoit was great fun. The OH hated that I had gone cos i kept on about it and pointing out all the things he was doing wrong
He said "I wish you'd taken the bl00dy points now" :rotfl:
Be kind to yourself about the form - it is only in case they don't bring it back. Not such a big deal in the scheme of things. I suffer from SAD at this time of year too (particularly on Sunday and Monday, bizarrely. Something to do with work I think) and I know how things can get blown out of all proportion.
OH and DS plane is 2.5 hours late at the moment. I think it is in the air now so they should be back soon. Making a veggie bake for tea - though it isn't being baked as I can't see the point. I'll make it all up and grill the top.
Have decided to buy a halogen oven - has anyone regretted buying one?I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
not regretted buying a halogen oven one bit VJsmum. I cook, reheat, thaw in it. It's my oven of choice. The only things I don't seem to be too successful at is yorkshire puddings (but I'm picky, they have to be just right) and I had a nightmare making rice pudding in it. Sausages are our favourite in the halogen, the fat drips off.0

Fuddle fingers crossed for the house.
SDG try not to worry about the form, how were you to know?
Cheapskate you've made me afraid to find out about the tyres! Am taking the car in tomorrow so will ask then. We need to buy another car as DH starts work next Monday all being well, but it will be a small one. DH isn't great at parking (he has bad spacial awareness) and the work car park is tight, so small will be good for him I think. Not too small though as he's 6 foot. I saw one on Autotrader today for £25 but I think I'll give that one a miss.
Well we've done sparklers and that's it for us in this house, wasted about 50 matches trying to light the blooming things.0 -
Just popping out of hiding. Re: fireworks. My dear departed MIL had dementia and every year she would ring us up saying someone was banging on her windows, and it took ages to settle her down. I wish they were banned from sale to the general public too.

There is a lovely film about this with Charles Brosnan as Francis P Church, if you can get it! I bought my copy from the USA a few years ago, and it's one of my favourite Christmas films.
Still trying to catch up, but awwww... that was lovelyI believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
Weight loss journey started January 2015-32lbs0 -
The car I had Possession was the Nissan Almera Tino. It was a mini mpv but quite tall and manly ish but squat enough for me to erm, park0

SDG - If someone handing out a form is the worse thing that ever happens in the CS either they are extremely lucky in the volunteers they have or They're FIBBING!!!!! - When I worked in a local shop I managed to do a £10,000 refund instead of £10.00p - trying to explain that one to accounts (when they'd stopped laughing!) was as trying for them as it was for me, now that would be a real problem wouldn't it? They are lucky to have you with them, it is an honest mistake and I'm certain you are not the only one to have made it! Chin up - the world will still be there tomorrow, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Yep you have thanks im Sheila....:D
On the coal issue, it will last me to about January as I usually burn a few logs with it, and I only light the fire about tea time til I go to bed at about 9 pm...
So thats very cheap, cos my logs are free, I start the fire off with a couple of large lumps and then burn the logs, so 4 bags lasts for a good few months.......
I do have the GCH come on at 5 am , if its warm because of south facing windows during the day , I turn it off and if its cold it goes on, as hubby is in a chair all day so he feels the cold badly.......
Of a evening I just heat the one room with the open fire.......
No matter what you use for fuel it does cost , but I do find GCH very very reasonable , plus we are very very well insulated here, with no draughts, no damp etc. So the heat stays in the rooms for quite a while after its turned off........ Sheila0 -
SDG - ((hugs)) little mistakes like that happen all the time both in charities and business alike. I bet no-one even remembers it tomorrow - but the other thing is to ask yourself did anyone actually ever tell you not to give them out. My opinion on something like that is that its better to keep such forms in a folder with the words DO NOT GIVE OUT TO TAKE HOME, emblazoned on the front. Thats based on my experience of managing volunteers - if you something is a set in stone rule, label it!!
Fuddle - do hope you get some good news
Well we have done our fireworks, much to DS14 disgust I made my dad buy the low noise boxes which didnt go up high and werent noisy, just pretty. Littlies both really enjoyed it although they watched the second half from DD18 bedroom balcony.
DS14 made a real fuss about not having big fireworks, which I tried to explain our garden is just not big enough for huge ones. Still he created, so I decided to try taking him to see the big town display but not going to the view area, staying somewhere close by. My dad decided he would take him instead so they have driven off to see the big display - can see DS14 flipping out though so am worried, DD18 has gone too, to help keep an eye on him.
All three cats are happily sleeping through all the noise and the dog is snoring - although he did try to get into the garden to watch ours!!
Managed to get my cat food and litter stocked up today and will do the dog food tomorrow.
Got so many meetings tomorrow I think I may meet myself coming back!0
