Morning, managed to get nose to stop dripping, but ear ache I cannot shift, very disturbing as I am now getting vertigo symptoms again which I do not really want a repeat performance of.
Had a long chat with friend in Cyprus, she cannot believe how bad things are getting over there. There is no money to repair the electricity generator that was damaged in the summer by fire so they are still having near daily power cuts. Oddly (and I don't understand this) they do not have solar panels for electricity out there, just solar for water heating, which rely on electric pumps!!! Daft if you ask me

Solar panels don't provide enough on demand voltage for electrical appliances and are more a trickle charge suitable for heating water over time, some solar water heaters still require at top up from maims electricity, depending on how many panels you have and how much sun you get.

This so called friend, my partner said i should never speak to her again, he was so angry. I've sent fuddle a link between my house, her house and the school, just in case i'm being unreasonable. I know i can be with all the medication and stuff.

A real friend would go no matter how far it was. The fact that is so close just high lights what a selfish besom she is.

    Softstuff,

Have some rain... please, as much as you like, plenty, even lots. Feel free, fill your boots, load up, go mad with it.

We have loads and loads of it to spare here. Loads!

If you could see the distance kez's friend had to go, knowing that kez is in great pain walking and choose not to, you'd be so angry. Ridiculous!

Softstuff, it's dreadful situation for you over there. Is it likely to cease any time soon or is this a season long risk? I know my friend who moved over there a few months ago is really struggling with the temps.

I cried for a car this morning. See, I'm no tough trooper. I made a boob and didn't think it was as cold as it was. Little one cried most of the hour walk because her feet were cold in her shoes. It takes an hour because she dawdles with her 4 year old legs. I took her into school crying, of course hey thought it was new school nerves and couldn't believe the change in her. I had to explain that we walked over 2 miles, felt like a pauper. The teacher was lovely and sat her next to the radiator. I can't believe I c*cked up! Snow boots tomorrow until I can get clarks boots for them. I want clarks because it would be comfy peace of mind. Anyone know any other reputable kids shoes tha might not cost as much.

Off to make that jam roly poly and hope that the one stop shop next to the school has custard in. I found recipe for scratch custard but you need cream and vanilla pod. I think it would be more expensive than buying ready made.

Kez gnocchi is a potato dumpling that you boil for 2 mins. They are really bland so need a pasta sauce but the girls liked that they were bland. Don't know about making from scratch yet as haven't looked for recipe.

I've taken delivery of my router :D just have to wait for BT to activate my line on tues!!! I've missed not being able to browse for recipes etc.

    Fuddle,
would you be able to do the journey by pushbike with the littllie in a seat. I know the intial outlay would cost, seat, helmets and the like but the running costs would be very small.

Just a thought, trying to help.

Fuddle - have you looked into funded transport options offered by the council. What are you going to do if one of them is poorly, it's a long way for big legs let alone little ones. If there's no transport option that's funded then check out the buses, even if it means walking half way and busing the rest it will help loads on cold, wet and wild days. A monthly bus pass would be cheaper than a car.

I have rage....apparently the 'manager' of the cafe, has now decided she DOESN'T want to leave. This is after DD was offered her job starting end Feb, and agreed a salary and everthing. I've been called in for two to cover DD as she needs to go home, DD told me when she called. And the stupid manager will be there when I arrive!

I don't know if this is the truth, or if they are back tracking because DD has subsequently found out she's pregnant. Neither would surprise me. Apparently there is a trustee's meeting this evening. If I manage to get through the two hours they want me to cover without giving someone a piece of my mind, punching someone, or just plain walking out it will be a miracle. I'm very very very very VERY CROSS!!!

Thanks so much for the tips. A push bike and sea is a very good option because most of the route is a bike route. The rest would be through the houses. That's actually got me very excited! :D thanks bluebag

I looked into the buses and actually very ideal but a £10 per day or £130 per month for passes its not an option - although I will be doing it when it's very wet.

I've checked school transport and I think I came to the conclusion that we didn't qualify. Ill go check again just I be sure.

    Thanks everyone

The youngest is entitled to free school transport by my workings out. It's 2.28 miles to the school. Called transport and they say they don't transport anyone there so they can't help me. Rules are rules so I'm going to try to write to the council and see where I get. If it 'as the crow flies' it'll be under 2 miles. Eldest doesn't qualify but even I it means I can pay for her a seat at £90 per term I would.

Biking would be no good as we've a horrible dual carrage way to cross x2 on the journey. Drivers are actually inconsiderate and just don't slow down to see little ones trying to cross the road in a hi vis jacket. Does nothing for my anxiety! Kez bridge over river to In B ;)
