ThriftKitten - you sound like a very suitable candidate and will be successful x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good luck Thriftkitten, though I think you won't need luck, you'll be in.

Ooh mi knees, I just did jog number 5. Nuff said.

Bushfires are everywhere right now. Some very local, but we're still fine. One about 2 seconds from my in laws, though we've phoned and they're fine too. There's been a pretty serious one about an hour away, apparently started by arsonists. This is pretty common over here, arson is a peculiarly Australian thing, so much so they have an "arson report hotline" a bit like crimestoppers. They should be strung up.

    Ooh mi knees. :o

Well done you, especially in that heat. And Sgt Major 7WW (well that's what my runners call me!!) says make sure you are drinking plenty especially running in the heat I gather you guys are having over there.

Take care with the fires - sounds scary!

Morning, managed to get nose to stop dripping, but ear ache I cannot shift, very disturbing as I am now getting vertigo symptoms again which I do not really want a repeat performance of.
Had a long chat with friend in Cyprus, she cannot believe how bad things are getting over there. There is no money to repair the electricity generator that was damaged in the summer by fire so they are still having near daily power cuts. Oddly (and I don't understand this) they do not have solar panels for electricity out there, just solar for water heating, which rely on electric pumps!!! Daft if you ask me

    Morning all

Best of luck Thrift - we're all gunning for you.

Softstuff - well done on the jog and hope the fires stay well back....well actually I hope they die off but you know what I mean.

I've been a good Pooky this morning and hopped on the treadmill, got up to a couple of bursts of running for 40 seconds or so (I've not run for years and always worry I'll fly off the treadmill and out of the conservatory window). Corrrr.. my heart was thumping (and it hurt my shins, is that something I should worry about?) but I managed to do 2.6K at a really fast walking pace and my knee didn't dislocate once! Hurrah.

Hospital all afternoon with DH, I might take him in and go back to the car and sit with my patchwork until he's ready to be collected, hospital waiting rooms are so boring.

Chicken and rice salad for lunch and a roasted veg soup and fresh bread for tea (providing I actually get a wriggle on and make the soup that is!)

    Good luck Thriftkitten.
Well I'm on the 2nd day of my 'diet' (am just tracking everything on My Fitness Pal). So far, no huge urges to eat. Does anyone else get these huge compulsions to eat? When I get them, I could literally eat anything in front of me, and I have to just eat it quickly, I don't enjoy it at all. It's bizarre. The psychology of why we eat is definitely one of those things about the human body we don't understand yet.
The problem is, in MSE fashion, I have so much food in the freezers and in the garage that I don't want to waste, so I might not always be eating the right things.
Anyway, hope everyone has a good day, and be careful of those fires Softstuff.

LOL I hear you sistah!!! Yesterday I made sensible choices for food...ate enough at each sitting (I'm sure) but was starving hungry all day. managed to stave off the munchies at bedtime by having just one rhubarb and custard sweetie I found in the cupboard (DD bought sweeties for OH ) so that can't have been too bad Something I ate yesterday or the day before gave me terrible bloating and wind...so I'm back on the colpermin.

We also have LOADS of food in the house, so trying to use that up as best as I can. I'd quite happily set of for the 4 mile walk this morning, as we have (shhh....) The YELLOW BALL. But I'm half expecting DD to call me in to cover her shift, and the mutt having got up for a wee already and discovering frost, has burrowed deep under the duvet!!

Breakfast this morning was some oats I soaked in semi-skimmed milk overnight, with a half dozen dates chopped in (saw that on the healthy breakfast thread) It was a bit cold on the tummy, but pleasant enough. Might buy some skimmed milk and try again.

Need to go to the post office this morning, they dropped off a card to say I had a post with not enough money on it (???) bet it turns out not to be very exciting! I also have to hit the supermarket at some point, as we have hardly any veg in the house, and no noms for the young master :rotfl:

Thank you Sgt (I can imagine how you'd get that name!), and yes, drinking a lot. It was 28.3 degrees when we were out, we left it as late as we could before it was dark. As with the first level, the second go of the second level seems easier. I'll still frankly be gobsmacked if I get to the 5km. Slightly worried about my left knee currently (it's my left calf I've got the tumour in) since it's hurting a bit.

Thank you too Pooky, and well done on your treadmilling. Those things scare the bejimminy out of me! If your shins are the only things that hurt a bit, I'd say you're doing ok :rotfl:. We could really use a bit of rain here, it's been a while.

I'm also trying that healthy eating advice of switching to a smaller plate. It seemed to work with dinner. Possession, when I'm hungry, nothing in the house is safe, so I get what you're on about there. I'd say to use up the stuff in the house, just eat less of it as a portion and mix it in with healthier stuff.

I always try these days to surround myself with positve people. I don't mean happy, clappy everything is always alright people.
Just, honest, optimistic , willling to offer support, people with integrity.

Freindship to me is something that needs to be nutured, it is also very much a two way trade.

I have reached an age where I can ditch the negative without agonising about it and getting angry. At my age I haven't got time to waste on wastes of time.

I try to see the good in everyone, but sometimes I have to dig too hard for it to be worth it. I find it best to peacefully let them go.
