I did it - weighed myself.
I am going to write it here - GULP
11 st 5lbs. I would like to be 10st 7lbs which is OK for my 5'7" height and nearly 50 age. Actually it isn't as bad as I feared - was after a bowl of porridge and 2 drinks too (tea and coffee - not alcoholic!). My size 12 trousers still fit so it can't be that bad but there are some wobbly bits that need to go.
Proper freezer surprise for tea - it is something tomato-y that can go on pasta, I think. No idea how long it's been in the freezer but seems to be all vegetable so should be ok. I think it's ratatouille.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Ladies - if you feel you need to lose a few pounds (or more) take a look at the 5:2 diet thread. I'm giving it a try as I cant be arrised to calorie count/weigh food & I have to feed DH!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Morning folks,
kids back to school today - they weren't exactly keen on the idea and took a bit of effort [STRIKE]bribing[/STRIKE] encouraging them out of bed. I don't usually do this but decided.. just this once... famous last words... promised a treat if they got out of bed in 5 mins. It worked and the treat was first choice of a thickly coated choc biccy after breakfast from the unopened box I was saving for my birthday. Naughty mumbut thinking of DS6 and getting into school in a good mood and not nagging him all morning. Actually they were fine once they had breakfast and DS6 went into school reasonably happy which is a first for a back to school day. Feel like he is making real progress these last few weeks.
Meme - I did the "wear the kids out before they go back to school" day yesterday. We walked to town (well they ran half the way), they spent some of their gift vouchers from Christmas and DS6's Nov birthday - both spent ages contemplating and discussing - chips off the old block!
I have so much to do and want to do it all at once! Went to bed too late last night and feeling a little jaded and sad that the kids are not here but at the same time positive and keen to get on with things.
Did one of my weird shops in Tatcos - had some vouchers and double points coupon so used these efficiently. I only buy a few things there that are a particular brand/price or reduced etc. I am getting brilliant (stops to polish halo) at avoiding putting in extras of any description (unless real bargains) in to the trolley. I have to say was really shocked at some prices, stuff that was advertised as on offer even as I skimmed down the aisles. When did prices like £6 for a few kitchen towels on offer become a bargain? A box of 12 ordinary catfood sachets which only last a couple of days in our house nearly £5. Jars of sauces for £3. Small bog standard caulis £1.87. I could go on all day. I know prices are high but today somehow everything seemed so expensive - not that any of those items went in my trolley but still.
Then to Allydees to stock on essentials -nabbed a couple of boxes of cheese platters for the freezer reduced to 50p and other reduced bits. Was very tempted to buy more but as I am cutting down on cheese, stopped myself. Thought I could do a few more luxurious receipes with different cheeses when I fancy as usually I buy cheapy cheddar for cheese sauces etc.
I promised myself a browse round charity shops/£shops/sales today as haven't had any time to myself for weeks but the weather is gloomy and damp so not so keen now. On the other hand one afternoon won't kill and the grand house sorting out can begin another day, probably Thursday as out part of Tues and Weds.
ok better stop bending your ears, had lunch whilst on here so will put rest of shop away and nip out for couple of hours before picking up my little angels.
ps. I have lost a few pounds since feeling ill the other day. I now weigh less than I did pre-Xmas so intend to very slowly shed a few more. Just going to cut down on higher calories/fat/sugar, smaller portions (and bigger of veg) and more walking.
Have a good afternoon all

For the amount of weighing I do I don't need a fancy one...nearly bought one for £4 in Wilkinsons, then I thought perhaps if I clean up the old one it may do...
I treat myself to some ready meals(I can add)some extras to what I have, I can do them quick in the microwave...
Liver and bacon, Chicken leek and bacon, Chicken and dumplings. May have one before I go out tonight."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I remember my Dad taking a pie out of the freezer when Mum was taking my grandparents away for a few days. He didn't bother to check it so we ended up with Apple pie and chips!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Hi all,
I'm feeling very old tonight. My DS phoned me and gave me a right b*ll*cking because he said that when he popped in yesterday I was looking tired and he thinks I am doing too much. Then he said (GET THIS), "You must remember Mum that you are in your twilight years now."
Just as well he was on the phone. If he'd been in the room I would have thrown off my shawl and clobbered him with my walking stick.
Twilight years!!!!!!!! I'll give him 'twilight years'.
meme: I am sooo with you about photos in frames. I also get given them by children and grandchildren and I much prefer to have them in albums. Well, I would if I could be bothered abut they are all actually in a large box. Unfortunately the Rev is very much apt to fill the house with with framed photos and also gives them to me at every opportunity. I haven't the heart to say anything because of
her background she is just thrilled to have any sort of family to have pictures of.
Me, I'm very minimilist and my bedroom is quite bare of all 'bits'. I find it restful.
RosiePP: Please dear, do make sure that all mice are removed before sewing the door curtain and lining together, other wise you may find mobile lumps and bumps encased in the curtain and it will never hang properly.
Fuddle: You nearly had manslaughter on your conscience tonight. I was telling a friend about how you honked a lot about Timothy and waged War and Paracetemol on your LL. She was eating a biscuit at the time and choked. The Rev nearly undid her operated- on arm by thumping her on the back.
Bedtime for this ancient crone in her twilight years.
Im with you on having too many photos, I hate the dam things things standing on furniture and hanging on walls , if they hang on walls even the backs on them get a lot of dust, plus you have to keep the glass clean,.......................
So I do what you do and put them all in one big box and some in albums, I hate cluttering ornaments and photos everywhere, just makes the place look tacky to me, its probaly just me like that , but id rather not have stuff, plus your house keep cleaner without so much tat to clean and polish...........
I dont think your son meant to upset you,:) he is just concerned of the amount of work you do, as you do help your charities alot, and it all takes time up.......:)....
Well its damp, dank, misty etc , what more can I say, this weather is really tiring me out , ive lost my spark, im just getting through each day as the day comes, everything seems hard work to me, im on AD s , so im blaming it on the weather, the only thing I seem to look forward to is lighting my fire later in the day, its so cheerful and it do help lift me slightly, but at least we are on the right side of spring, and the nights are pulling out each evening................................
Well what do you all think to the goverments new decision today to stop child benefit to earners over 50 k per year,I dont think that if you earn that amount of money you need CB, as the middle class that voted the cons in so on CB they shot themselves in the foot, its the poorer people that are really going to suffer this year with their "new benefit cuts ".......Sheila0 -
ive got one of those digital photo frames so ive resolved to pop all phots onto usb stick to go into that so at least we see the pics but no dusting!!!:A :j0

DH & I off to see The Quartet this afternoon, a nice bit of escapism & turkey, stuffing & mushroom pie for tea when we get backSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Fuddle runs off screaming blue murder while honking!
Monnagran dearest, listen to that man. You do do an awful lot. I'd, at 33, would look a bit bedraggled doing all you do. Anyway, till him from me that you're fine and hat you tell porkies because there's no way you're 73!
Soft stuff: you're not any where near fire risks are you? The reports of what may come in some areas of Australia are really worrisome.
Lived in this house weeks and already used £129 gas. Mortified! All I can think of it the boiler wasn't working properly the first week with it woofing over all the time. Whiring! So I just hope it is that. BG advised that we keep an eye on it but asure me that we have actually used that much.
Quiche chips and salad for tea. LL had plumber round to fix bath leak and annoyingly we have to head to go outdoors for new coat for eldest DD... Hers has lost an arm in the wash!! Thank goodness DH paid next Tuesday, although I love that I don't have to worry about Christmas debt any more.
Where is the 5:2 diet thread? I can't browse too well at the minute.
You know what I wonder? How us it that I get fatter the less money I have? You would think that I should be slender without a fridge full of fancy hams and cheeses or cupboards full of snacks and chocolate covered biscuits.
And on that note I suspect with the next question I shall answer that onehow do you make jam roly poly?

Please be careful with the 5:2 diet, if you are diabetic or likely to experience low blood pressure or blood sugar levels you will need to be very aware of how it affects you on the very low calorie days.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0
