Haslet is something I haven't heard of. If like to know more too.

My worry with the 5:2 diet (and I know an awful lot of people are doing it without a problem) is the calories I'm going to be burning walking 8.5 miles daily on the school run. I'm worried ill be too week to do the afternoon leg and also struggle with doing the first half without breakfast.

I might just hold off and see whether the walking alone loses some weight. Not going to power walk either as knees are a bit sore after squelching through mud yesterday. Glucosamine? My bil said he uses it for his knees as he cycles a lot. Anyone tried it/know about it

Definitely cooler outside this evening. I'm suffering from cold feet too! What's that a sign of? Come on tell me, what else is breaking lol
  • Hi POOKY it's like a savoury loaf, not quite meatloaf not quite luncheon meat, It has a nice smooth texture and slices very well for sandwiches. You can find the commercially made stuff on most deli counters and they would probably let you try a small taste to see if you liked it. Cheers Lyn xxx.

Oops sorry MAISIE I took it for your name!!!!! and numpty of the day is.............ME!!!!! Lyn xxx.
  • HEY FUDDLE it's a sign that you should have thicker socks on !!!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.

As I have had some medical training, having done two first aid courses I feel totally qualified to tell you that having cold feet is a symptom of neglect.

To cure this you should do the following without any delay whatsoever or any reason, immediate action is critical!

You should place yourself in a large sqooshy armchair in front of a roaring fire with a large ( the larger the better) box of chocolates and a full glass of something with a large proportion of alcohol to volume, you should remain there until you are thoroughly warmed to the core, sometimes in severe cases this can take several days.

    Hope this helps.

During the 80s/90s/0s I did many 'wartime' and super-economical recipes as we were saving for a house; then coping with record mortgage rates, then I was coping with single parenthood and finally I needed to budget as I was developing a new career via voluntary / pt work.

Now my reduced income has brought the focus back on economical recipes. I used to cook meatloaf regularly - similar to haslet, and we all enjoyed it. I have liver to flash-griddle tonight - from the discount freezer shop. It's lovely.

I kept my decorations up 2 days longer so that my grandchildren could see them as they weren't able to visit over Christmas. My grand-daughter instantly picked out the new additions to the tree from last year. I'm sure she has them all earmarked for thirty years or so's time when I've shuffled off the mortal coil!

I also remembered my childhood friend, whose birthday is today. Her Mum kept the Christmas decorations up a little longer so that she could have them on her birthday.
They were a truly lovely Christian family so superstitions on this meant nothing to them. Sadly we've lost touch, though I know roughly where she is now.
    Happy Birthday, Ann.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

My resting heart rate is 42. Did fitness assessment at gym and two people assessed this and my BP. Was told work hard when you walk, you need to get that heart rate up to be effective!

I am trying just to eat less. First time ever I have signed up to a calorie tracker, include sugar carbs etc tracking. Bit of a rude awakening as I constantly munch fruit and my usual daily quota means I eat too much sugar per day.

Re the knees, do consider some really good properly fitted trainers, well worth getting them properly fitted at a shop (not a standard high street sports shop, specialist one) and then of course do the MSE bit and buy online. I cannot emphasis enough what a DRAMATIC change good well designed and fitting footwear makes to niggles, aches and pains, plus wear and tear long term!

Also re cold feet, can't think of anything worse, second the sofa and thick socks plus tea.

So funny, thanks girls :D heat holders watching telly it is ;)

Quests what I did?! Submitted a figment of my imagination of a gas meter reading when we moved in. Somehow I got it in my head that we started with a meter read of 00004 and submitted it. Checked checking detils and there's a photo and document with 000199 on it!!!! You know what that means dontcha? I've not incurred any where near £129 in gas this month. Phew! British gas changing it as I have inventory backup by agents.

If that's the only mistake I make moving then hey ho. It could have been a very expensive mistake mind.

Oh and I do my walking in walking shoes. Karrimor brand and once respected but now they are in that cheap sports shop I don't know any more. I have no problems with them though and gone miles in them.
