So funny, thanks girls :D heat holders watching telly it is ;)

Quests what I did?! Submitted a figment of my imagination of a gas meter reading when we moved in. Somehow I got it in my head that we started with a meter read of 00004 and submitted it. Checked checking detils and there's a photo and document with 000199 on it!!!! You know what that means dontcha? I've not incurred any where near £129 in gas this month. Phew! British gas changing it as I have inventory backup by agents.

If that's the only mistake I make moving then hey ho. It could have been a very expensive mistake mind.

Oh and I do my walking in walking shoes. Karrimor brand and once respected but now they are in that cheap sports shop I don't know any more. I have no problems with them though and gone miles in them.

Managed to quote myself when editing. Apologies, oh cripes I posted again, sorry

fuddle - glucosamine was advised for us for the dogs joints, and my friends ex was a cyclist and he always took some too, so I assume it may be good for your knees.

See I'm the opposite - my heart rate at rest and lying in bed is very fast. it never used to be like this and I don't like it. Have had it checked twice but doc never said anything so much be ok. I used to have a really slow pulse too. Must be the ME and sitting around all day. :(

Regarding glucosamine the scientific review of data in various large global scientific studies do not provide any evidence this works. In any animal.

Hi TIA it is so easy and really economical. I made half the recipe for the two of us

    Lincoln Haslet

    2 lbs minced pork
    1 onion chopped very small
    12 oz of brown bread
    2 teaspoons salt
    1 teaspoon ground white pepper
    1 teaspoon dried sage

Tear the bread into pieces and soak with water. Squeeze out as much moisture as you can and then in a big bowl put in all the ingrediets and squish them together very well with your hands until completely and evenly mixed. Put into a loaf tin or pie dish (I used an enamel pie dish) and bake at 350deg F/180 degC/ 160deg Fan for one hour. Leave to cool in the cooking tin until completely cold before turning out. Keep fridged and enjoy

Hope you like it, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Thanks for this, I love Haslet and would like to try making some:T

I don't find Karrimore have enough 'spring' in them for me. I swear by Merrill. With my heel spur and back problems, I find if I start aching it's time to change my shoes. Close inspection will usually find that the heel area has squished and don't have so much give in it, and sometimes the tread is starting to wear away too. Merrill are expensive, but most times, I manage to find a pair in Milletts sale, if I'm not fussy about which ones I buy (I'm not...saving £40-50 quid is a great incentive I find :p) and I buy a pair nearly every sale and stick them away for when I need them. I find, as they are the shoes I wear all day every day they last 6-8 months. I also recommend a good pair of walking socks, as the extra padding inside makes all the difference!

DS and I collected a big bag of drift wood when we walked the dogs today, and we've stacked it next to the woodburner to dry out. We've decided foraging is the way forward, and are putting a bit of a kit together to keep in the car. He's back at college tomorrow, and they didn't have his favoured brand of pasty in Mr T...so I've made him some wraps. Salami, ham, cheese, mustard and mayo!!! That should keep him going :rotfl:

I also saw DD this morning, she's being very poorly with morning sickness :( any suggestions? I bought her some ginger tea at the weekend, but it's not helped.

Ginger snaps helped me. I think the fact I was eating something helped too. I remember using sea bands for it too and honesty I think they helped somewhat, even if it was just psychological. Sea bands I think they were.

Ill watch out for cheaper merills, think you. Still some wear in my shoes for now and I don't wear thin socks either.

katie I found that if I had a cup of tea in bed with a rich tea biscuit or two before I got up really helped me. Days when I didnt I was invariably incredibly ill.
Like fuddle I had wrist bands too but I cant say they ever really worked to be honest. :)

Thank you for the Haslet recipe....I had totally forgotten such a thing existed...I loved it when I was a child growing up in Yorkshire...but I do have a thing about sage...I love it!!! I am going to have a go at making it at the weekend to use up my hm gluten free bread. I will let you know how it goes. Lidl's here sells very lean pork mince so it sounds good to me, another recipe to try out. I really missed sage and onion stuffing but now I make a version of it with apple, onion and sage chopped up in the blender with a little stock, its lovely in roast pork roll.

I have been reading the thread on the 5:2 forum (not on here) and the people seem to get varied experiences of it. What I worry about is the fact that many of them seem to get obsessive about the food intake , or lack of it on the fast days. They are still calorie counting and many of them are using a third of the count allowed on wine. I am all for dieting that teaches people basic nutrition and how to eat healthy. They say it improves health but it won't do that if you feast on cream and chocolate and wine on the feed days. Many seem to go on a sudden binge when their body starts craving and then worry about it and have nothing to eat on the low cal days...it sounds like a recipe for disaster to me, but each to their own. Fuddle I think you are right to worry about the long walk and the energy needed for your trips to school and back and general day to day living. Personally I wouldn't be able to cope with the sleepless nights many of them are reporting on the fasting days. I hate having disturbed sleep!

We are on a weather warning again, this time for five days of deep overnight frosts which won't clear till afternoon, the chance of snow and very high winds. I just checked out the webcam for the Greek ski resorts and its minus ten with 90 km winds and a minus 23 chill factor...OMG... I hope that does not come our way!

Went to the gym today and had a good workout. My healthy eating plan is going great and I feel really well on it. Today was funny as everyone was walking around with so many layers on you could only see their eyes peering over the top of scarves and under woolly hats LOL They looked more like Eskimos than Greeks.

Made a lovely soup with corned beef and lots of veggies with the end of the bunch of rocket cut into it. It was gorgeous, lovely in this weather. Righty oh, off to bed to enjoy my new electric blanket. Just looked outside through the shutter and its very cold and dry...long may it stay that way!

Soft stuff: you're not any where near fire risks are you? The reports of what may come in some areas of Australia are really worrisome.

We had a fire about 5 minutes away Christmas week, but I wasn't at risk and it's out now. We're in a bigger town anyway, so not as much at risk in general. A lot of the places you see having bother are very bushy villages. It is stinking hot here in general though.

You asked for Jam Roly Poly Fuddle, I made the recipe maybe 6 months back from here: http://www.simplythenest.com/journal/2009/11/17/recipe-for-jam-roly-poly-it-doesnt-get-more-english-than-thi.html
It was very delicious, but mine didn't turn out to be very pleasing on the eye!
