  • Morning all,

Just dropping by to give a big hug to Unixgirluk as it sounds like you could use one. It's tough always been the strong coping type. I hope you hear something about a job soon. And complete change of subject - did you ever find out what happened to the puppy that got abandoned at the petrol station?

Softstuff you *will* get through week 2, if it's any consolation my calves are feeling it after yesterday's rain-run!!

I've just found out that we have some free meditation/mindfulness sessions on at lunchtime. Not sure what they are all about, but have emailed for more info and may well go along. I definitely need some focussed calm in my life!

    Have a good day everyone.

I did! I asked about it last time I was in, the lady I mentioned that was going to take it to the vets to get it checked over was about to leave when a policeman came in with another man. The other man was the owner of the nearby fishery. It was his dog. Thieves had broken in, locked the man in a cupboard and told him they'd kill his dog if he tried to break out before they got away!

Now I know that sort of behaviours not on but they could have dumped the dog anywhere (i.e. it could have been killed or dumped at a roadside) so by dumping it at the petrol station they at least showed some compassion for the animal.

p.s. Thanks for the hug. Yes its definitely needed today.

I don't meditate but think I need to - getting a bit stressy lately.
Unixgirl have you read the cards for yourself? Try that? And yes, the only person any of us can truly always count on is ourselves. If you start off from there then you grow much stronger xxx

I have a quiet house, it's a bit odd, but a lot more condusive to doing work.

Sorry Unixgirl, I missed your post by not checking for other posts when I posted my other one.... (if that makes sense you've been drinking stronger stuff than me). So many *hugs* for you. Sounds like you're between a rock and a hard place. May be an odd question, but what keeps you with him? He doesn't seem to pull his weight in any way, not even with emotional support. Sorry if that's me opening my big gob. :o

Hey all - hugs to you all

Tried walking today and ended up coughing enough to qualify for an Olympic sport! Struggling with lack of taste and ability to breath so sleep badly affected and frankly quite despondent about starting 2013 with ear ache, eye ache, throat ache, sore throat, head ache (I know it's all the same thing really) and HR problems galore at work.

Paracetamol and cold drinks it is!

  • UNIXGIRL biggest hugs you can imagine winging thier way to you as I type, you're a good loyal girlie and he is a lucky man to have you, I hope he comes to realise that very soon!!!!!

Have decided that I will serve us a helping of home made soup before our main meals in future to allow me to stretch the protien item a little further. Today I have a big pan of Lentil and Tomato Soup on the hob, so lentils will bulk it out and give some protien too which when served with wholemeal bread will fill us up a bit and I can serve less sausage pie per head. If this works as an idea I will be doing it permanently and ringing the changes flavour wise with whatever is in season at the time. I think it will be healthier than having a pudding every day and some days I will just serve soup and a pudding so He who knows doesn't feel hard done by (He's a custard addict!!!).

It's lovely and sunny here today so I have a full washing machine and hopefully will get it mostly dry outside before the promised rain arrives. Lots of things popping their noses out of the ground in the village (Daffs, snowdrops etc) as it is so mild. I hope they will survive if we do get the predicted cold snap. In some places on the footpath where they get the sun the daffs are in full bloom already, lovely to see but still wrong!!!!!

I tried another wartime recipe last night, I found the last bag of the year before lasts broad beans lurking in a corner of the freezer and found a recipe for Broad Bean Spread which is surprisingly nice

    Broad Bean Spread

8oz fresh/frozen broad beans (after podding)
    a trickle of olive oil
1 garlic clove/ half a teaspoon of garlic granules
    salt and pepper
half a teaspoon of fresh thyme of a quarter of a teaspoon of dried thyme

Cook the beans until soft, then rinse them with cold water and leave until completely cool. Slip the tough outer skins off and keep the soft inners. Then add all the other ingredients and blitz with a stick blender until a soft paste. Serve on Hot toast or on crackers.

It's a bit like bruschetta and very pleasant indeed.

Have a good day all, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Don't apologise, I did vent and at least talking it about here I feel I can vent if that makes sense. I do love him, and he was the first to love me for me .......quirks and all. We've been through a lot. He nearly died (an op) about 6 months after we met, stuff SD put us through. I'd had a habit in the past of changing who I was to suit who I was with, with him I didn't do that and I'm not sure why.

Unix, sending hugs and hoping you feel better about things soon and sort out some kind of arrangement with your OH. Relationships are difficult at the best of times but you also have the job stress and I think you need support. As for the app - thats control hunny! best thing you did was getting rid of it

I seem to have forced the sciatica away, I put lots of glucosamine gel on last night and feel fine today - feeling pretty good at the moment and long may it continue :j

Off to pick DGS and Dd up from one of his groups so a tired little man who will still have a huge smile for his grandma, you cant do better than that.

Just got to pull some pork bits and bobs out of the freezer to cobble together a meal for tea.

Mrs L - that's what I do. HM soup most days. And I'm a custard/pudding addict too but hardly do it because the RV can't have it :( Have you tried the wartime Oatmeal Soup? I didn't for ages because the name put me off - sounds like Oliver Twist and gruel lol but its very very nice.
