Missrlr - have you tried walking the dog through a tray of soapy water followed by a towel afterwards? During really icy weather when there is loads of salt about I try to get OH to walk the doggy through a cat litter tray of soapy water to clean him off.

Softstuff, I have three binbags full so far and am not quite half way through so it remains to be seen just how bad it will be.
Have given up for the night now as its too noisy and my back is really sore from sitting stooped over it so long.

I tried that...ended up with the whole tray of water all over the kitchen floor  At least when I put two inches of water in the bath and lift her in (No mean feat she's knocking on for 20k) she goes all limp and looses the will to struggle.

Nope but I do it differently, put water in watering can prior to walk outside door you will use to enter back into house (with me so far? Not sure I am!) make sure you DON'T do this just outside door where it may cause ice if it freezes. Also dog towel on door handle of said door.
I don't use soap as salt dissolves in water so not necessary to remove salt.
Hold dog by collar use watering can to direct water down legs take towel and apply to legs then let in house. Small house watering can is good but depends on type of dog.
Dog desalted, relatively dry, sanity in tact and house relatively safe sorted!

    Hi all,

I'm feeling very old tonight. My DS phoned me and gave me a right b*ll*cking because he said that when he popped in yesterday I was looking tired and he thinks I am doing too much. Then he said (GET THIS), "You must remember Mum that you are in your twilight years now."
Just as well he was on the phone. If he'd been in the room I would have thrown off my shawl and clobbered him with my walking stick.
Twilight years!!!!!!!! I'll give him 'twilight years'.

meme: I am sooo with you about photos in frames. I also get given them by children and grandchildren and I much prefer to have them in albums. Well, I would if I could be bothered abut they are all actually in a large box. Unfortunately the Rev is very much apt to fill the house with with framed photos and also gives them to me at every opportunity. I haven't the heart to say anything because of
her background she is just thrilled to have any sort of family to have pictures of.
Me, I'm very minimilist and my bedroom is quite bare of all 'bits'. I find it restful.

RosiePP: Please dear, do make sure that all mice are removed before sewing the door curtain and lining together, other wise you may find mobile lumps and bumps encased in the curtain and it will never hang properly.

Fuddle: You nearly had manslaughter on your conscience tonight. I was telling a friend about how you honked a lot about Timothy and waged War and Paracetemol on your LL. She was eating a biscuit at the time and choked. The Rev nearly undid her operated- on arm by thumping her on the back.

Bedtime for this ancient crone in her twilight years.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.

    AND MEEEEE!
I can't imagine that anyone would even ASK such a question about sweeties.
I think she only calls herself '2 Tonsils' to torment me because she knows that I have none.....toddling off in a huff! :rotfl:

Mardatha you may need to sit down to read this post, DS8 was offered his selection box earlier and he rejected everything from it, apparently he cannot stand the smell!

You're giving me an idea now for "disposal poker" since I can no longer play food poker.... I see your 3 binbags of shred and raise you 2 skips of garage crap.

I was amazed how well a 10 quid value shredder from asda kept going considering. Much like you, bits of me gave up before it did.
