Jem:- :grouphug: What are they going to do about your headaches?
We are having three weeks of stuffing our faces then we are going back to the dieting. We started a low carb diet in September and we lost between 1 to 2 lbs a week. On weeks where we were at a 'do' we did not lose anything but we did not gain either.
It's an easy diet to do, we just don't eat Bread, Pasta, Rice or Potatoes. I am a chocolate fiend too so giving that up was a big thing for me.
The result is that we now eat more veg than we ever have and although we have eaten bread sweets etc this last two weeks, we can't say we have really missed them. We have found that because we are not eating sugars we can now taste it in lots of things!
The great thing is that DH's poorly knee is a lot better, and far less swollen. We have both lost 1 and a half stones and aim to repeat that in between January and May when we have our hols. Of course that will include the half a stone we are putting back on at the moment. :rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -
I did the low carb thing once - lost 4lb and that was it! Everbody else seems to lose stones. I think I just need to move more, it's not the eating with me.0

You're not the only one Mar. I tried the low carb diet too and it made little difference.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

I want to slit my wrists whenever I go on a low carb diet. It suits DH so he always wants to go that route when he has let a few lb build up but I can't cope with it. Having said that, I feel well when I don't eat too many starchy carbs, but cutting them out is going too farIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I really fancy having a go at the low carb one but would be a nightmare to work separate meals entirely to the others I already do a minimum of three different meals a night, the idea of having to do another one really doesnt sit well.0

The real test is whether he pays you now though:D0 -
I have been low carb for a year now and lost a stone and a half in that time, It is probably more than that but I have not bothered to go on the scales for quite a while now. Low carb does not mean you have to cut it out entirely, you just have to cut down. My biggest problem was bread and potatoes so I went looking for the correct portion size. Two slices of bread is one portion and about 2/3rds of a cup of rice, pasta or potato is one portion. I allow myself just two portions of these foods a day. if I have been walking or working hard then I allow myself a very small piece of cake or a biscuit too.
Because ddil cannot tolerate wheat I am going to experiment with some GF/Wheat free recipes for her and will try them myself (well I have to taste test:) ). It will cost less if we can make these foods ourselves. When she first started they were buying almost all ready made but it costs a fortune. She lost a lot of weight once she stopped eating wheat so I am hoping it will help me to loose some more.0
