  • Morning everyone! After a 'quiet' day yesterday that wasnt all that quiet thanks to noisy teenagers, today i have an exciting day. I am going with my eldest daughter to look at a council flat for her:j:j:j:j:j:j:j
    We are so excited.
Giggles last night were over my little brother falling off the camp bed and breaking it:rotfl:

I'm glad to read of all the happy Christmasses, you all deserve it.

We were amused to have the final kick in the nuts from 2012, both of us came down with a head cold on Christmas eve :rotfl: No sympathy required, with sudofed we got through Christmas fine. I even tried to go to work today, but came home after an hour and went to bed. Hubby shrugged it off and was ok pretty quick, I think I'm over the worst now, just tired.

We managed to have a nice time all things considered, I was lucky to have pre-prepared a few meals so we've eaten well and we got lovely gifts too. We're looking forward to New Years now, roll on 2013.

Unlike me normally I'm thinking to de-Christmas the house tomorrow, clean and generally get ready for a better New Year. Seems symbolic.

Thank God for turkey, it takes all the effort out of thinking what to eat when food is the last thing you want. Have had a really weird back to front cold. It started on Friday with a full blown chest infection that came out of nowhere - rattling noises deep inside under my ribs with every breath, just like when I had an infection that turned to pneumonia years ago. Then after 5 days I got the streaming and sneezing, then yesterday the headache, aching all over, temperature and shivering. But the rest is clearing up. So just like a normal cold but in reverse. Very odd! But the fridge is bursting with food so the hordes aren't in any danger of starving. I'm just peeved that my lovely free range turkey doesn't taste of anything to me - and everyone else is saying how flavoursome it is
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

The only leftovers we have is a bit of turkey which I will now freeze for a curry later in the month.

On Monday night I started with a dry tickly cough, and achy shoulders, Christmas day morning I had a sinus headache and had a couple of dizzy spells whilst cooking the dinner.
Dinner got completed with DH help and then yesterday he cooked up bubble & squeak with the leftover mash and veggies (I deliberately cook extras) to go with the leftover stuffing ,pigs in blankets and some of the turkey.

I did though get the carcass all stripped and into the slowcooker on Tuesday so yesterday put 4 tubs of stock plus a tub of meat bits into the freezer; I also froze the remaining gravy which had been made with giblet stock so 2 tubs there as well.

Today we are going for ride out to Cleethorpes for some "chippy" chips; I save any coppers throughout the year and we always use these for a treat between Christmas and New Year.

Having 2 teenage boys it is now a case of them sleeping in til gone lunchtime , but then staying up til the early hours playing on the xbox etc; although it is nice for myself and DH to not have an alarm going off either. Last night I was falling asleep at 10pm and slept through until 8am this morning.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman

I never thought the day would come when I had to wake my children up on Christmas Day - but sure enough, I did

Hi Prudence, wow that sounds lovely, warmth and a beach, right at the moment I would gibe my left arm to walk on a beach and relax. Anyone is welcome in our playground as long as they are nice to everyone so you fit the bill perfectly. Im guessing you are cutting back on spending too as you are on board?

OH is poorly sick in bed today but I dont really mind as I am a bit wrung out today. Got lists to make and plans to put into action but am taking it slowly so I dont lose the momentum. I had Christmas pud and cream for lunch as a treat :rotfl: 50p pud was sooo good.

Sorry for all the poorly peeps at the mo, these colds and bugs sound really bad and seem hard to shift. Hugs to all Ginny

Ours only woke up because DH and I were clattering around the place getting up at 9 to put the turkey in - and they are only 19 months and 3 3/4!!!!

I actually stayed up overnight, trying to free some hard drive space and burn some files. Then found myself eating chicken baps for Breakfast.

I have a massive slow cooker full of chicken pieces, gravy, garlic and every veg possible(except I forgot to do any parsnip)enough for a few meals when warmed up quickly on a hob. Still not the Christmas meal that I planned but I can still have some cranberry with it:p

May have a little treat afterwards, plenty of cakes, mince pies, Xmas puddings and desserts to go at...I even opened up(though could've kept them back well into the New Year)some Belgium biscuits I won in a raffle to have with my coffee and thay are rather nice...

I could go out to buy some bread and eggs but I really don't "Need" to. So may stay indoors. It may busier in the shops but around here it is still very quiet.

I have ventured to !kea this morning with the kids for breakfast, all were well behaved and we even managed to get DS8 a small rug ( he decided Christmas eve that he really needed one), it was not at all busy, we were there same time last year and it was much busier.

Roads are really quiet too and I would say that its really quiet here but DD6 has her friends in and they are all "singing" on the hokey cokey machine!! So its rather noisy!!
They are murdering several current pop numbers and DD18 is not impressed -:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
