  • . DH is supervising kids' baths - realised they haven't had a bath for ahem a while, we are all out of routine being off school.

    sq:)

lol, sounds like our house! Too many baths can damage delicate young skin ;) (that's what I tell everyone anyway).

did a bit of sales shopping today and wish i hadn't taken the kids, they were horrible. made it really stressful and tiring. I did manage to pick up a few bargains though and have several birthday presents sorted for the year. I also picked up a few bits for the girls in the geor9e sale, including four pairs of leggings priced at £1 each, but with no barcode. the young lad behind the till must have been fed up with typing codes in because when i checked my receipt when i got home the leggings weren't on it.

I also picked up a page a day diary. I'll be using it for meal planning, food diary and weightloss record and budgeting. a post it note will be stuck over shopping day for my shopping list each week to be added to whenever something gets used up. this weekend i'm going to inventory the freezer and cupboards and stick a list on the front of each.
the 2 big resolutions for the coming year are spend less and weigh less! (although I am considering booking a SW countdown to help shift this last bit of weight, i just can't decide what i would want my target weight to be).

I'm so glad you all seem to have had a nice christmas, and I would just like to wish everyone all the best for the New Year xxx

  • Evening all,

I hope everyone who ventured out to the sales has survived! We had our annual get together of OH's pals from his sporting past. In days of old they would all head out for some exercise and they come back to our house for mulled wine and mince pies: these days they just come straight round for the food and wine and ignore the exercise! All very pleasant (and KatieOwl, the GF cake went down a storm with the intended recepient plus everyone else) but it did feel like one of those days were I washed every one of our cups and mugs at least twice!!

Softstuff: I think you should make a horrible doll with a t-shirt with 2012 written on it - and then just stick loads of pins in it!! I know this year has been complete pants for you: are you still planning to head out for your posh dinner on New Year's Eve?

Lisakay: I've got a big diary from work that I intend to use to get organized! Are you still doing the personal trainer thing with your friend?

Off to BIL for lunch tomorrow: not particularly looking forward to it, but never mind!

    Have a good evening everyone.
  • 7ww, she's not working over christmas, but we're adding a couple of extra weeks after new year just to finish off. strangely enough, I haven't lost more than a lb or 2 over the month, but the inchloss has been dramatic, can't wait for the final weigh/measure :)

Brilliant - looking forward to hearing about the final figures!

Hehe, I like that doll idea. And no, no posh dinner for us. I had a look around at what was on offer in the restaurants round here and the prices gave me palpitations! They average about 120 quid a person, so in other words, the two of us would be more than half of my monthly household budget.

Going to make something nice at home and probably watch a film on DVD. That'll be good enough.

  • Lisakay Your day diary ticks all the boxes for me too but I think you might be better at doing it. I seem to remember people putting their hand up to do this at the start of 2012, I wonder how long they stuck to their resolution, assuming they got started in the first place. Freecycler, skip diver extraordinnaire and bargain magnet :) Takes one to know one :)

Monnagran We've run out of puff and I'm becalmed. Overnight minimum 23C. It was 28C at 7:30am, rising to 38C today, 41C Sat 29th, 41C Sun 30th, 40C Mon 31st. Computer needs fan to prevent overheating. Send help.

Grey Queen Check oxters. If your worst fears come to pass, try sponging lightly with 1 teaspoon of vinegar to one cup of water. Although you could probably substitute lemon or lime juice. The drawback is that you must be allowed to dry in sun or fresh air.

Ginny My dad always said you can survive on two bob a day, so long as you don't spend it. My aunt said 'Australia is a free country, free without a doubt. If you haven't got your lunch, you're free to go without. I say my house is not too small, I've just got too much stuff. For help and advice on all the above, what better place than this forum, with good people such as yourself?

Good News Yesterday I purchased a train ticket from Heathrow to Scunny for 14 pound. Today I've had an email advising Leeds to Kings Cross for 14.60 pound. Is that of any use to anyone? (Sorry, need to rejig my keyboard to get the pound sign back).

Not so good news. Hope the flooded people only grow webbing between digits if it is beneficial. TV pictures have reached the antipodes.

To whom it may concern Just a thought. Time is precious. Work is for slaves. (maximus whotsisnamus).

    Morning everyone :)

Horrified that my mobile bill is £60 with the Internet connecting and using it to ring round to change addresses. Ill be missing in action till 15th jan now.

Update on LL - he hasn't at all responded to the request to get my deposit back and because we've been moved out for 2 weeks I now begin the next process in getting my money back. Yey I hear you cry... Except I have to pay a solicitor to witness my form. He can still dispute the request so I might end up paying for him to begin the fight when he could have fought for free (to me!) these past 2 weeks :(

Also the new Letting Agents are useless. We still haven't got our direct debit instruction for the rent due out in 2 weeks time. New LL knows and also isn't happy about it. The last instruction had our rent coming out on the 12th of the month when we moved in on 15th because that was when DH is paid. We've argued that our tenancy agreement (that I haven't go a copy of yet!) began on the 15th and that should be the date of our rent coming out "sorry mrs fuddle, our rules state that we must take monies from your account 3 days before your rent is due to the LL because we need to process it first so we can can our fees from it" me:" but there won't be any money in the account until 15th!" Her "unfortunately mrs f our rules are our rules" me:"you'll be getting nothing then until the instruction is altered to reflect the date of my tenancy starting" we didn't sign, walked out and instructed her nicely by firmly to call us when she has the correct date on the direct debit instruction to the bank. Came home, walked to the site office to tell the LL who was spitting feathers too. I guess it will be sorted in the next day or so. I also need to have my inventory and condition of items paperwork, my tenancy agreement and deposit information paperwork from them. We've effectively moved into a house, lived her for two weeks, have no means of paying rent and don't have a slip of paper in my possession to say I'm supposed to be here.

So, I'm stressed with niggly things that are out if my control.

I'm ok though :) still off the AD's and cutting down on ST John's Wort.

Did I tell you my slow cooker smashed in he move? I know, I was devastated! Going to try to do without it and work on a new me unplanned today. I fancy having an Italian based diet. Fresh ingredients, plain simple ideas and hopefully quite cheap... Hopefully!

Hope everyone is coping with the rain. Goodness the fields are a mess aren't they? It doesn't look good for crop growing huh?

I virtually gave up on the mobile...Slow cooker? I hear that Tesco are selling theirs at £8 at present.

I hate all the carry on sorting DD's at the banks etc...
