Hi All - just coming out of lurkdom to wish everyone here a happy & healthy New Year.
Not had much time to catch up - Christmas day with DS1 & Partner, joined later in the afternoon with DS2 & partner. Really lovely to be all together & no christmas dinner to cook! Downside is no leftovers ;)
I'm feeling the stirring of a clear out/clean up/organise for the New Year but I'll resist until next week :)

    Hello all,

Glad that Christmas has gone well for all, we had a good one too....not a single argument.

DD3 is off back to Oz on Sunday morning, so moping a bit at that thought but she and BF are doing well there and it has been lovely having her around for a whole month.

DD2 and her lot are back to London on Tuesday, so will only then be able to tidy around and get back to ''normal''.

Made a lovely cake....Nigella's chocolate Christmas cake, had used about half when the 2 dogs ( Mossy and Bran, DD4's ) found it in bottom of a cupboard and helped themselves to most of it, was ready to murder them but they are still alive but being very careful.

Aria's Tail:- That's a shame, so many memories lost. :(
Meanmarie:- Sneaky dogs! Just wanted to send you a hug for when your DD leaves for Australia. :grouphug:

Quiet chilling weekend here, DH is at work so I am trying out some recipes from the Hairy Bikers diet book. (Fewer carbs!)
Dh also bought me some paints for Christmas so I will spend some time playing with those as well! I'm not good at drawing or painting but I find it so relaxing that hours fly by. I think I am relearning how to spend time with myself doing things that are not producing something or give an end result. I think I mean I am relearning how to waste time, by spending it on me! :)
No that still does not sound right!
Somewhere in my life I have forgotten how to spend time on me and how to say out loud that it's ok. :rotfl:

Meme30 - I know exactly what you mean about me time and not feeling guilty about it. I have been doing flylady thread for a year now, so the house is tidy pretty much all of the time, and I now feel I can do things just for me (learning to play an instrument now). I no longer feel I should be cleaning or doing something for someone else. Highly recommended!
Spend less now, work less later.

Oh same here - I cannot for the life of me sit and do nothing, it makes me feel twitchy and guilty! I used to sit and ignore housework if I had a good book but now I seem to have acquired an awkward conscience
Won't be sad to see the back of 2012 at all - bad year for so many.

Morning everyone. well its a very windy day here, and fine drizzley rain. Ive recorded some programmes over xmas, and im watching a hoarding programme on tv. I am quite shocked as to the levels this woman has gone!!! I have a little bit of a hoard, but its all onroute to being listed or boxed for car bootys in the summer. I try and aim for £500 from the sales.

Well i must get myself into gear, i have work today at 11. I have been very good, ive o=done alist and stuck to it at the supermarket. TBH we only really needed milk eggs and butter.

My aims for 2013 is to loose lots of weight, im thinking in the region of 3 stone. Due to everything happening over the last 2 years it seams to have crept on, and i saw myself in the mirror (full length) in one of the changing rooms over xmas. Not a good sight as im only just over 5ft tall. My other aim is to be more frugal with money, and to bake more cakes, do fresh veg at least 4 days a week and walk to more places. Its gonna be a tough one!!!

Right must go, i have to get showered and dressed and need to be leaving in about an hour.

    Take care everyone.

  • Morning everyone, and what a grotty one it is too.
My OH has taken the car to go and see his kids so that leaves me the perfect excuse not to leave the house till later. The only things I really need to do are walk the pooches and maybe take a bag of bits to the local charity shop. Another NSD on the cards. (won't even look in the charity shop if I go, honest!)
I have put the heating on for an hour as everything feel so damp so might be more motivated to do a few bits around the house,
there seems to be mud everywhere at the moment.

I too saw that hoarding program, made me feel a bit more motivated to get rid of some junk and stuff that hasn't been used/worn for ages. Plan is to get stuff out a bit at a time and a lot less in! Am even gonna run the storecupboard down a bit.
  • Belated Merry Christmas to everyone.

Sorry was so selfish could think of nothing excepting hoping to be well enough to see son and his fiancee when they arrived over from Melbourne.

Those poor souls who befriended me on facebook have had nothing but moans from me.........

I had a virus that would not go away after the problem over the meds( allergic) and then either another virus or a slightly different form of the Noro virus - only sickness and admit after 4 months of constantly actually being ill, not usual chronic health problems I have become a boring old **** who is having to force herself to come out of her head and communicate with the world.

I rarely get as much as a cold one year to next never mind constant viruses with temps etc.

Only plus side is I seem to have lost weight with not eating much - dress I put on for Christmas day was cross over top and I had to use a pin to hold it together as was was far to big there for me, skirt is full so that was ok and even though size 18 was able to put it on easily without undoing the zip. When I bought it last Feb it fitted ok but not spare space. Scales need new battery so not sure what weight is, but at least something good maybe comes out all this illness.

One thing these past few months have taught me how to waste time as was either in bed or sitting in chair unable to do anything more that stare at laptop screen - no tv up here so just put on all my boxed sets of dvds and watched the lot. Never been able to sit for more than 5 mins without doing something, not the way I would want anyone to learn to just do something for themselves I assure you.

Hugs and Love to all - will try and catch up a bit but no promises.
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

  • morning all. I cant think straight today and cant remember what i just read so hugs to anyone who needs them and rallying cheers for those doing positive things for the future.
I dont think i have an ear infection after all but i definately have a lovely head cold, not helped by a few hours at a&e last night with eldest daughter who has sprained her ankle! We got home about midnight. If i can spend the day vegetating on the sofa i think i will be ok. Lets hope the kiddies decide not to do too much 'mum' 'mum?', 'mummmmmmm?????' and leave me alone a bit.

If anybody in here is still alive/in full possession of their wits/not ill :) - could you tell me where I would get a basket thingy for steaming veg that fits inside a pressure cooker ?
