Morning all. I have woken up with what i suspect is an ear infection. Everytime i yawn i t feels like it wants to pop and it hurts a bit. Not too bad at the moment and i hope it doesnt get worse. The flat viewing went ok bu tmy daughter is not allowed to sign the tenancy as she has no income yet - benefits people want more information from her college but they arent back til wednesday of next week. The lady was really nice and has agreed to hold it for a few weeks while we try and get it sorted. She was also disgusted that the social worker wasnt there to support my daughter and that she had made no arrangements to pay the deposit as she should have done. The lady also explained to my daughter that the reason she wasnt letting my daughter sign was because with no benefits/income in place, housing benefit would not pay the rent and she didnt want my daughter to start independant life by getting into debt. So disappointing for my daughter but understandable.
We made an agreement to update the lady on every thing that happens regarding the benefits or hearing from the social worker and hopefully the offer wont be withdrawn before everything is sorted.0 -
Morning everyone, Oh has returned to work and it seems everyone is ordering in the sales as he has a full van again to deliver!!! I ventured out yesterday but i was very good. I resisted everything in boots and only got DD a tinkerbell ornament from samuEl jewellers as was half price nad she collects them. This is for her birthday in march.
Today i return to work, and as from next week my hours will be dropping. TBH im sort of glad, its quite a stressful job and can be abusive. Friday night is known as fight night, usually somewhere outside there will be one about to go off. I just hope we are still fully staffed, or we will be exected to cover and last time it took over 2 months to recruit someone.
Take care everyone xBSC member 137

Hi everyone.
Glad to hear everyone had a nice Christmas.
Nutty, my OH is busy too, he's off on hols after today for a week though.
Fuddle, don't stress Chick, your LL will sort it, he knows you aren't trying to avoid paying.
I have been sitting for the last couple of days thinking about sorting my life out so 2013 will be the year I properly take on my debts and get myself sorted. Need to sort out the house as well, needs a good declutter and clean. I have sorted my sig and started a diary to help keep me focused. Will be living on a shoestring for a good few months though, even more than we have been!
I'm off to do the glamerous job of de pooping the dogs run now.0 -
Afternoon all
Fuddle - hope the girls are looking forward to their new school. The LL issues will all sort themselves, I know it's frustrating as no one else seems to work to your own personal time scale...you want it sorted and you want it sorted now.....they want it sorted but will get round to it at some point......tis the way of the world.
Have been thinking of aims for the coming year and have acted on a few already. Have set up a standing order for a regular mortgage overpayment and balanced the books by cutting back on the food, fuel and utilities budget. Have just claimed back £135 from the gas and electricity company and lowered the DD by £13 a month, DHs mobile contract is up at the end of Jan so he's found a pay as you go deal to go for saving around £120 over the year. DD1 is now paying us a regular amount out of her part time wage so I've factored that in too. If we can keep it up, the overpayment takes 9 years off our mortgage and saves us bucket loads of interest. I need to stick to this.
I've decided to turn my crafting activities into a money making enterprise. I've had a few sales over the past couple of months and have drawn up a list of 10/15 products I'll be offering. I'm going to get one of everything made up and then start taking orders. I've got a set profit margin I want to reach so have a goal to aim for.
I'm going to be turning 40 in the next 6 months and I want it to be a year that I remember for good reasons, not a year I endured due to life getting in the way.
(in an attempt to make a good start, I've hidden all the Christmas sweeties - I brought 3 boxes of sweets we like.........we got 5 tins as pressies plus countless tubes, packs and other boxes). We had a lovely Christmas Lyn. My mil spoilt us rotten. We had plates full of alsorts and loved every minute of it. Poor mil couldn't enjoy hers as she was stressing tha it was too cold. Bless her, she did so well feeding everyone and delicious meal and was so self critical. I need to make her some finger preserve (oh heck! Ginger lol) as a thank you it's her favourite. Doesn't seem enough though. Oh, my only job Christmas Day was to cook the joint of beef as my contribution... I forgot to put it in the oven so I delayed dinner for everyone. Normally so flaming organised too.
I know pooky, it's a down fall of being so organised an efficient (ignoring the last sentence I the last paragraph that is!) I sort everything and read up on what I should do to make sure my back is covered, its frustrating when others don't do it too.
Mil made me a baileys coffee and a Tia Maria coffee with cream. I think I hav found my tippledo aldi make cheaper versions of baileys an Tia Maria? I don't fancy investing in te proper stuff just for me to have in a coffee on a Saturday night.
Also lemon sole. Is it an expensive fish. HFW does a lemon sole in a bap in river cottage everyday and I quite like to give it a go for us all.
2013 is the year for financial betterment here too. We're going to have out holiday (need to save for it as used mil's gift money to move here! I need my deposit lol) and then were saving for a runaround for me and then I will look for work in schools and nurseries. The whole idea being to save for a deposit to buy this house. It's not my dream home by any means but Ido love it, appreciate it and want it to be my safe, secure haven... Even if I k know too well that just because you have a mortgage doesn't make it safe and secure but in my head it means I'm making it
I can't wait to get back online properly. I miss your hints and tips... There's not much flour been spilt on the kitchen floor yet. We can't have that can wex

Finger Preserve FUDDLE????? Not for vegetarians then?? Glad you had a nice day pet and don't worry, things will sort themselves out. Lemon Sole is not as expensive as Dover Sole, but not cheap either. If you have a local fishmonger you might get lucky and find Megrim or Witch Sole which are both sustainable fish and very similar in flavour but much cheaper. If not, you can substitute either plaice or flounder and the resulting dish will be much the same as lemon sole. Glad above all else that you love your new little home and are happy there, it's no more than you deserve and about time it happened for you all. Have a really Happy New Year and 2013 will bring you much happiness and fulfillment, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

They used to sell Lemon sole at Tesco's we started to eat it and then they stopped stocking it. Some SM do but that meant adding the cost of bus fares around here.
Aldi's and Tesco's do their own versions of Bailey's...or at least sell an alternative version that is not quite as expensive..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I'm another one who's getting life sorted for 2013. I love New Year and find the excitement building now, already started the Big Kitchen Clean Oot
Once that's done the rest of the house will follow.
As my lucky number is 13, I'm expecting this year to be a good one. I would like to spend time on Hogmanay out in the back garden or walking around the village, just looking at the stars. I find that very soothing and settling, a reminder of my true place in the universe. I want and expect this year to be a more spiritual one for me, I can't cope with too much of the material side, it gets me down.
I also want to meal plan and stick to it for the first time ever... so prepare yerselves for a lot of gormless questions
