Had a fantastic day yesterday - DD really got the whole Christmas thing this year for the first time - DS another matter and I might as well have got him a few boxes and wrapped them instead of proper presents as that was pretty much all he played with! Dinner was a success even if it was half an hour latter than planned before we sat down as I had accidentally turned the oven down too much whilst distracted with DD 'helping'.

Our village had a big breakfast in the village hall this morning so we had booked our tickets (a whole £1 each, kids free!!!) and went off thi morning for sauage, bacon, egg, mushrooms and beans in jolly company. It was really lovely and fantastic of people to volunteer their time to cook for the village on boxing day morning - they did it for the jubilee too but they were better organised this time and less harassed looking!

Hope you all had a good day - hugs X

  • 7ww your cat looks so comfy!
I have stripped the turkey and am now making stock, plus the laundry is on, washing up done and the living room hoovered. Now i can sit back with my home made Baileys and relax. I've also managed to upset 15 yr old daughter who assumed she could just help herself to the Sourz drink - i think not! she is now sulking in her room muttering about controlling parents who wont let her grow up. What a shame.
Stiltwalker it sounds like you had a lovely day and how wonderful to have a village breakfast. It sounds amazing.

just typed a massive post about yesterday and its been lost! Grrrrrrrrrrrr ain't the word.

That happens more than ever with me too.
Pops - glad you are feeling better after taking poorly on Christmas eve. Are you cooking your chicken dinner today?

I was thinking about that and debating whether to or go for the easy option of a kind of stew(veg/chicken pieces)in the slow cooker. If I do plenty I have a few meals to keep me going. I can turn the Christmas meal into something special for the New Year.

I had two salads over recent days. So this will be a proper hot meal. I better go and do some washing up. May catch up on some washing in the washer too.

Like Shegar I nearly thought I'd have a look out and there was only Tesco open here and thought why? The weather is cold and wet. I have enough food in and even if they have a sale of non food items what do I really want or need?

I think I actually felt better on Christmas Day than I do on Boxing Day. That will happen, its natural. Still improved regarding the illness though...

    happy boxing day everyone.

Well we braved the sales today, for a tv. Ours had more lines than a zebra, was sort of ok after at least half an hour. So we went on the bargain hunt, ended up at argos as tesco was nearly £78 dearer for the same tv. Its not even a big tv not at all flash. See OS bargain hunter here.

We have, well i have decided to be even more super savvy in the new year. I want to be able to go on a break for a few days, so the challenge is on. We have boxes in the attic, so these are going to be unpacked and sold - free listings on flebay at the mo.

This afternoon we went for lunch with my mum. we had a lovely lunch for beef and all the trimmings :-) was nice to spend some time with her. OH fell asleep on the sofa for 2 hours there tho!!

Well im off for a long soak in the bath, and 5 mins break from everyone.

    have a lovely evening everyone.

Evening all - am so glad everyone seems to be having a good time and best of having chance to recharge :)

We were off to my mums today which is always fraught but I have to say it was nowhere as bad as I had expected :)
DS8 was awake until 1.30am today and back up at six, with an hours interlude around three so am feeling very much drained having had no time off today at all. My throat this evening is rough and I definitely have the beginnings of something near the top of my chest, am hoping if I ignore it, then it may run away!!

OH has entered his post Christmas strop but I have decided this year that I am not entertaining it at all. Cats are killing each other to find any dropped turkey - and when we returned with a bag of my mums turkey leftovers they got to it before the dog got any!

I have no plans for tomorrow other than a sort out of boxes and if we are definitely having guests then I will need to shop too.
