Just popping in to wish all of you a very happy Christmas and a healthy and contented New Year .... I really hope 2013 is not as tough as many of us fear it may be, but at least we all have each other for support, advice, or sometimes just an outlet for a much needed rant. I appreciate your warmth, kindness and, often, bravery, and send all of you my warmest thoughts and love. xx the cake xx

To coin a phrase...right back at you cake:)Lets hope we can stay and touch and can afford the internet to do so if/when we have to look for further ways to cut our spending.

That's lovely news for the new year MrsLW.

Looks like it may be wet here for Christmas, which is unusual, but not unheard of.

They are on about the rain here on the radio, yes there are many reasons but the main one appears to be how many areas are now concreted or covered so the rain cannot drain away. The new neighbours, as soon as they moved in, virtually anything green was removed or covered. Round here they are the only people do this, most have kept their lawns, shrubs and trees.

Katie I am interested in your GF pastry if it is wheat free. I am going to experiment with wheat free cakes and bread for my Dil. She has tried pastry but it was not good.

First post on this thread, second in total! I read this avidly and can only marvel at the likes of Kidcat with all the challenges life has thrown at her, Fuddle and so many more of you who share all like's ups and downs with good grace and resolve. You share all the good tips and purchases you come across and are a true community, when that is so sadly lacking in so many peoples lives.

  • Hi Gran3. Its lovely here isnt it?
Monnagran i find that ALL the time! Its so frustrating. I would love to be able to see my dining table nice and clear at all times but i doubt it will ever happen. My excuse is i should have been born rich so i coould live in a mansion and have seperate rooms for my crafts and my books and my paperwork etc.

How annoying...I purchased a Christmas double listings magazine and can I find it?

I can look on the internet but still like being able to use a mag. You know I don't think I have seen "The Snowman" so though I'll probably have a tear in my eye I will catch up on it later on here...then look out for the new version on Xmas Eve.

I watched Michael Buble's Christmas special on You Tube the other night from the States and as he appeared on Rod Stewart's Xmas ITV special as a guest Rod appeared on Michael's special. I am amazed what you can find via the web...

gran - welcome, we are all just muddling along as best we can, and I know I have gained such tremendous support and strength from the whole group I feel truly privileged to be a part of it.

Mrs LW - lovely news :)

Its been a funny day here but OH finally managed to see a dentist, who said that the filling done earlier in the week was done wrong, and the nerve was left exposed!!

DS14 has totally shutdown today unable to cope, hasnt left his room until everyone else had left the living room when he wandered in to join me, his balcony doors started leaking and I tried to get someone out to fix them but he flipped at the idea of someone entering his room, so for today at least its towels all over the floor!

Had to go to the shops today as DS8 had ran out of bananas, was so surprised to discover that whilst it was busy it was nowhere near as busy as I expected.

Pretty much ready and done now, just need to make a pudding or two and then we are all set for the big day - still waiting to find out what I have forgotten must be something big as I am never this organised. :)

HUgs to all in the final prep.

I've been out to...the SM and think that is me done now...earlier in the day I struggled, tonight I managed a little easier. Some conditions are so strange.

I spent silly money but will get a few meals from that but salad stuff is quite expensive...the best bargain £8 of fish for £1.50(Tuna steak and Sea Bass)

Kidcat, am sorry your son has shutdown, from what I have heard its common with Christmas and auty children, its just too much change for them isnt it? We are lucky I guess that DGs is an only child for now so we can keep it low key(which we do anyway) He doesnt like Father Christmas at all and prefered a 2 mile wander in the woods with Mummy and Daddy when they went to see him last week. He is now singing 2 songs:j:j 'The wheels on the bus' and 'twinkle twinkle' Its wonderful, we lay on Grandads bed earlier having a hug and singing to each other - all my Christmas's rolled into one.

i am certainly counting my blessings this year even though Im in total agony with my shoulder, its as bad as a broken bone at the moment.I have taken one of my emergency arthritis pills and painkillers but think I may find something to do as I doubt I will sleep. My GP is a bit tough and reckons I can get through with just painkillers, she doesnt believe in long term use of arthritis meds but she is so good with OH I just grit my teeth and get on with it.

Sending hugs to all in need at this time of the year. Ginny
