nuttp, hopefully thanks to you he should now get some help. a couple of years ago on nye i gave my super big snuggly warm scarf to a man trying to sleep on the bench in the park. i reported to the police when i got home but by the time they got there he had decided to move on.
sevenup, thats beyond words!!! i was a homecarer for a while, mostly for the elderly. some of the stories the clients told me about previous carers were shocking. i have no idea how people can treat others the way they do, especially when they are vulnerable. i hope something gets done about your daughters carer x
fuddle, fingers crossed you will get the full amount back
unixgirl, fingers crossed that you hear quickly and that its good news
happy birthday to those celebrating in the run up the christmas x
I should have finished work for christmas at 12 today(school cook) but was asked to help out at DDs school while the staff were at a funeral. as soon as the girls knew they wanted school dinners. NEVER again. After seeing the dinners they are on packed lunches permanently. My 2 are both in the infants (7&5), they are very active and have healthy appetites.
Their school dinner consisted of 5 pieces of ravioli, a slice of buttered white bread from a small loaf, approx 4 slices of carrot and a little stars yogurt. I've put complaints in to both the school and the town hall(coucil do the catering). I came home before i picked them up and made them a sandwich each to eat on the way home and sure enough the first thing they both said when they came out of school...mummy i'm hungry.
I have lots of other issues with the procedures, the kitchen, the staff, the food and the portions, but probably shouldn't air them in public
should have a response to my complaint to the council by tomorrow morning.
That has really shocked me. I think its outrageous, given the price of school dinners that kids are given so little to eat at lunchtime. Well done you for complaining.Slimming World at target0 -
Nuttyp: well done you. I believe that the council has a legal obligation to house vulnerable adults. I'm not 100% sure of the facts and I guess the term ' vulnerable' is open to interpretation.
Fuddle: Don't you dare let this charlatan get away with it. Even if it was an antique wardrobe with a mirror built into it and unable to be removed and replaced, it wouldn't cost that much. He must have been really desperate to have settled on that to cheat you out of the deposit. When we remember the shabby way he has treated you and the problems you have had with damp etc. (hopefully you still have the photographs) you can't believe the neck of him.
Editted to add: Lisakay, that is awful. That meal must have cost 15p at the very most and what is this I hear about educating children to eat healthily?
Did no shopping today, which was planned, because of the weather, so I'll have to venture out tomorrow.
We can no longer close our dining room door because of the amount of stuff donated by lovely people to Open Arms. When it was known that we open on Christmas day bags and boxes just poured in and our ex-dining room is the only place we have to keep it. Up until last week it was beautifully organised but now the floor is waist high in bags. I've no idea what's in them but I'm going to have to find the time to go through them and sort the contents out. Heaven alone knows where it's all going to go. Peoples' generosity astounds me. One lady sent along the biggest Christmas cake I have ever seen. It weighs a ton so is obviously a rich fruit cake, beautifully iced with an exquisite nativity scene on the top.
This is all lovely but I'm wondering if I could postpone Chritmas for a week so I could get it all ready.I believe that friends are quiet angels

That's bad Lisakay. Are the dinners cooked on the premises? My children's school cooks their own dinners and the portions are always better than that, plus juniors are allowed seconds (and year 6 double 2nds - my son was most impressed to find out!). Our dinners are £1.95 and if yours are the same it would be outrageous to only get that amount.0

I have every bit of evidence monnagran
what I have done is requested the full amount from the deposit scheme. They were very impartial and told me its in the LL's hands now. He has to accept that amount or suggest a different amount. We either accept or dispute. If I'm given the chance I will be writing war and paracetamol about this guy. I don't know if ill be given the opportunity to though. We'll see.
He phoned me about 2 hours ago. He was told not to contact me with issues re: house. He said he'd spoken to DH and 'got no joy' so now trying me. Now this bloke has only ever seen the quiet submissive fuddle. Tonight he got 'you know fine well that crack was there, we have spoken about it. You do not question my integrity and you do not call me or DH again about this. Deal, as we are, through the proper channels!' I was shouting and applauded by the electrician, site fore man and my new LL!!!!! Who were standing in the kitchen (problem with our boiler) I was red wih embarrassment and wholly mortified that the LL heard. I broke down in tears and was shaking. My LL made me a cuppa, with my stuff. A totally surreal situation. I will not be walked over any more. Never.
I'm absolutely clueless as to what is happening on the thread till the 15 jan and avian apologise for just talking about my events. It's a case of being selfish because it helps me get it all out.
As for the inventory, there wasn't one as the house was a shambles. Everything was dirty, ripped, bodged etc. it's now in really good decorative order and I suspect he will put up the rent now but knows that the wardrobe is going to cost a lot to make good. We're talking about the same wardrobes that have damp behind them, you may recall.
DH said its over and not to stress. He's right. It's only money that we haven't had anyway. Non of it matters xx0 -
Peace not paracetamol, darn phone lol0

fuddle if there is no inventory then he can't claim as there is no proof of the state of the house at the start of the tenancy. Please let the deposit scheme know that as it makes a big difference.0

That's great to know, thank you!0

I am sitting here with tears in my eyes humbled by the kindness and humanity I've read about on here today. In amongst the trials and tribulations some folk have been having it has restored my faith in humanity. Monnagran, Meg72 and Nuttyp - you guys rock!
Unixgirl - I've got everything crossed for you: I know how you feel going over and over things waiting to here back from the interview. I hope you got in and out of Edinburgh ok - it didn't seem too bad when I hit the city centre just after lunch.
Sevenup - big hugs I hope your blood pressure has returned to normal and your daughter's carer is being thoroughly investigated.
Fuddle - deep breaths girl - you are doing everything right.
Phew - time to go and check on things in the kitchen. I'm just waiting for my Lemon Berry GF cake to cool, in a fit of dippiness I forgot to add the lemon juice, but hey - that's why it was a practice run! I've written and re-written my last minute Christmas shopping list and I'm sure I've forgotten something!
Have a good/peaceful evening all.0 -
Peace not paracetamol, darn phone lol
I really liked "war and paracetamol" - I'm stealing it! :rotfl:
What a !!!!!! that landlord is. Sounds like he's just desperate to make money out of you - hope he gets what's coming to him instead.
I'm only just starting to feel remotely human again after a week of a feverish cold and chest infection. The antibiotics haven't really made a lot of difference, so it must be a virus. I feel guilty about missing the last week of work but can't help being glad it's happened now instead of Christmas week (I've been ill over Christmas week several times!)
Hope everyone is doing well, I've got everything crossed for you here Unixgirl - good luck.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

http://neverseconds.blogspot.co.uk/ This little girl had similar issues and took it up with the council - might be good to readI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
