Im glad i rang now, but they did say give food not cash as some have addictions and this can funs it :-( i hope he bought some food with the money i gave him.
At least i now know there is help there and that they are aware. They will also be checking his foot/leg incase its anything nasty.BSC member 137

I just feel sick. Hate having to be patient. Nuttyp that was a wonderful thing you did for that man. I hope he is found and accepts there offer of help and suport.
I need a rant. My daughter (the one in care) was supposed to be visiting today and i rang to see where she was. She was in tears as was the other girl who lives there. The carer has locked them in hte house and is refusing to let them out. The other girl is supposed to be at college but isnt being allowed to go. I told them to call the police and then call hteir socail workers as this is just not on. I am so angry i am shaking. She is only technically living there until news years eve as that is when she takes the tenancy of her new flat (finally) and she wont be there for most of the next week as she is staying with me for christmas. The carer has even said they cannot buy fresh or frozen food as she needs the fridge-freezer space for christmas stuff so how are they supposed to buy food for themselves?0 -

Definitely get them to call the police. Most of the carers I've come across through various work I've done shouldn't be in the job. What was the reason for locking them in? I've only ever heard of this being done if they think a child is going to hurt themselves. They aren't actually allowed to physically stop them from leaving if they want to go out.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Well done NuttyP, hopefully that man will get some help.
Utterly rubbish morning here - my car has been taken away to be repaired but the hire car co knew nothing about a replacement. After an entire morning of phone calls I 'think' there is one coming but it's hours away so have had to ask someone else to pick up the children. It had better come today!
Sevenup I second calling the local police number but does that carer work for a company you can call and shout at?
Unix I hope you hear quickly.0 -
I have just spoken to my daughter and she was calming down as we spoke. The police arrived and made the carer let them leave the property. They are going to request that social services rehome both the girls living there. They had both called the police not realising the other had done so.
Apparently they were not allowed out as they had not tidied their rooms as they were trying to sort out christmas and make arrangements to stay elsewhere as the carer didnt want them there over christmas. This is a supported lodgings situation so slightly different to a foster situation. They both have cleaned up the bathroom and kitchen when they have been there to use them it was only their bedrooms that were a mess. My daughter did admit to being rather rude to the carer but as i told her i think she was provoked so understandable.
My daughter is now on her way over with a large suitcase so i think i have a guest for the next couple of weeks.0 -
OMGoodness sevenup01 I would be beyond angry and would be calling the police and social services myself. That c*w should be stopped from being a carer right now and arrested for false imprisonment. I hope your daughter and her friend are taken seriously and it is all sorted very quickly.
nuttyp That was a wonderful thing to do and I hope the poor man gets the help he needs.
Happy Birthday Mrs VP :bdaycake: and belated Birthday wishes VJsmum :bdaycake:
Well I am completely fed up. I did a ton of cooking yesterday and have two more days of it ahead of me. I do this every year and it means I just spend the run up to the big day stressed out and exhausted. I've told DH that everyone is getting a box of chocolates next year. I know the homemade stuff is appreciated, but I'm the only one that does it and I find myself making too much stuff and trying to beat the year before's offering. It all seems like a good idea at the time.
I'd better get the biscottti done and the shortbread dough chilling otherwise I'll still be cooking at midnight.
Take care everyone (((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))0 -
The old landlord isn't withholding our deposit because of the damp issues but because of a crack in the wardrobe mirror door. There was a small crack when we moved in which has escalate over time. We had a discussion about it saying it was just costmetic and we would live with it no problem. Now he's saying we've done it and he wants £300 out of our £450 deposit to pay for a new door. I feel so angry. That man ought to be very ashamed of himself. He's threatened DH with court if we don't submit £300 to him via the deposit holders. He's a bully. We've aske the deposit scheme for the full amount of our deposit back as we left that house in better condition than when we moved in. We can only try. I have no evidence over this issue... Every other flaming issue but not this! Cross at myself.
DH said to just get over the issue as its only money. I get too tied up in principle. I can't explain the feelings of anger, the feeling of being ripped off and being taken for a ride. It's awful.0 -

Fuddle do you have anything that proves you reported the crack before?CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. Fuddle - dont worry, contact the deposit people and make your case, if the wardrobe is over a certain age they may deduct a small amount towards it but not the full cost, the expectation is that things have a natural life and if you paid for a new one the LL would be unfairly advantaged or something along those lines.
He will also need to provide proper receipts to show he has actually had the work done and that he has paid X amount, from the way your LL has behaved, I bet he doesnt plan on repairing it before the next tenant anyway so again wont get a penny.
Unix -hope you get a good answer soon.0
