SQueen:- Oh I love school nativity's, my DD was once the shepherd who refused to give the baby Jesus her lamb!
Lisakay:- Well done on saving the freezer contents!
We had an encounter with donation problems earlier this year. We were clearing a house and tried to donate some furniture. It became clear that the acceptance criteria was health and safety based, so many things were not taken. The rejected things were old but sturdy, useful furniture, so it felt very frustrating. We wondered if the people who actually needed the furniture would have been so picky.
Chucking it down here, so of course this is my day for wandering around our local market, queuing in the bank and the post office. The Fish man was telling me that the market will be on today, Saturday and Christmas Eve. I do hope the rain lets up for them, it must be miserable standing about in the cold and then of course less people come out because of the rain.:(Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -

Happy birthday, Mrs VP. And thanks for your messages everyone. I don't mind having my birthday then - it's not like I had a choice or that I've had one any other time. it is just about early enough to not clash with christmas, the most annoying thing is that when you go out for a meal, you can often only get a "festive" menu. OH and I will go out for the day in january as a kind of celebration - we will probably go walking to break in the sexy cagoules, walking boots and over trousers we are getting each other for christmas! :rotfl:
I am working at home today - I have a pile of marking that HAS to be finished by tomorrow night, even if I sit up all night. I am hoping it won't come to that.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Happy Birthday Mrs VP - have a wonderful day0

Good morning everyone,
Happy Birthday to Mrs VP - I hope you have a lovely day.
And big thanks to KatieOwl, 2Tonsils, Stiltwalker,Nuatha and Softstuff for advice on where to get cellophane bags and for sharing some amazing gluten free recipes with me. All the recipes have been noted down, there is so much choice it's brilliant! I think I will give the lemon berry cake a go as I've got most of the ingredients. In fact I might even give it a test run today before I make one for my friends.
I am feeling scarily on top of things. A wee bit more house-work to do, and I have to wrap my mum and OH's presents but nothing too horrendous. I'll do my last shop tomorrow, but even that shouldn't be too bad as I've been stocking up every time I go shopping.
What's the betting I've forgotten something major! And in the mean time I'm having a go at knitting these fingerless mitts. I've had to scale the patten up as I only have DK wool, but it's good fun.
Have a good day everyone.0 -

Happy birthday Mrs VP.
Well, my lovelies, tis raining again. I'm giving thanks I'm not in one of the flood risk areas, though. Thank goodness for the Xmas decs up in the city centre, they really cheer the spirits when everything else is dank and dreary. Looking forward to the other side of solstice with the days starting to draw out again. Should really be able to notice the difference by late January.
Today I shall go to work and then come home again. And eat nice things. Or failing that, an FB pie with h.g. veg from the freezer and some basics gravy. Good filling stuff.
I have heard of salad and I don't object to it as a side dish but I'm afraid that in a climate like ours I could never exactly consider it to be proper food.
Hope everyone has a good day, esp our birthday girl. Anyone else celebrating this month?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Happy Birthday Mrs VP.
Interview day today. I drove in (normally get the train) and it took about as long. But wanted to be stress free and non crumpled. Just looking through some notes and then heading off in a little while. All positives vibes appreciated!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Happy Birthday MrsVP - i hope you have a lovely day,
Unix - good luck with your interview.
I had a lovely day yesterday visiting my friend and her baby. Lots of cuddles with the baby and henry dog very kindly warmed my back by laying on the chair behind me. Today i have to go and try to sort out my rent and council tax benefits. Hopefully it wont be too painful. My council have moved to an appointment system in the last few weeks so no longer do you have to sit and wait which is good.
I also had a lovely surprise yesterday. My brother walked in with a parcel for me (he works for a delivery company) When i opened it, it contained a bottle of Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur! There was also a piece of card printed with congratulations you are a winner with Chambord and Sainsburys included. I dont recall entering any competitions lately so a total mystery as to how i could have won.0 -
Morning everyone. Rain here today too. I have some last bits of shopping to do but will be getting the bus instead of cycling. I woke with a very stiff neck and my back is still sore, plus the wellies I wore yesterday have made my legs very stiff. I don't know about being 43, I feel 143 this morning! I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon and hopefully she can just slap me round the back of the head and knock everything back into place :rotfl:.
Happy birthday MrsVP and belated wishes VJ'sMum.
Unixgirl good luck! :money:
Greyqueen isn't salad banned during the winter months? Could've sworn that was the law of the land ....
I have been adopted by a stray cat, or rather, my old chicken coop has. He comes and sleeps there during the day and sometimes in the evening. I haven't the heart to shoo him off as he obviously needs somewhere dry to sleep. I am not going to start feeding him though, I have enough to do making ends meet to feed my dogs. However I have a feeling that a pet blanket may be purchased from the pound shop in town today ..... and some plastic sheeting might find itself pinned over the roof of the coop to guarantee no leaks ....Aspire not to have more but to be more.

SmilyT you are so kindhearted. I hope the cat has a home to go to and is just enjoying some peace in your coop.
I just remembered something my youngest (5) said yesterday that gave me a fit of the giggles. we were in the supermarket and she asked what something was. I told her it was a room freshener and was supposed to make a room smell nice. She promptly told me that she needed one for her bedroom as her brother (12) keeps farting in there and it stank!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Agree re xmas birthdays and Bluebag that was a good idea re daughter's birthday. It's mine on Sunday and all my life I either got " I couldn't get you a birthday pressie cos it so near xmas" or "OMG I forgot all about you cos I got soo much to do "
I always used to say I want another birthday in July .
My youngest is worse. He was born on Jan 1st and even we sometimes forgot his- and he never had a party ! :rotfl:0
