Thanks Smileyt, I'll have a look. I'm nervous. Is that silly? Was soaking my white blouse last night so its lovely and white. Will also need to check out exactly where the place is. I know I can't park at the place but I can park about 5 minutes away.

Here's a tip someone gave me, and it worked - breathe in for a count of four, hold for a count of four, breathe out for a count of four. Repeat 4 times. Or in my case, 40 times! It's supposed to redirect oxygen to your brain so you can think clearly, instead of all the oxygen being in your muscles ready for 'flight or fight' when you can't think clearly.

Right, I have appointment at the job centre and a hot date at the post office to post off the last of my bits and bobs for Christmas. Have a good day folks xxx.

PS Hope the world doesn't end on Friday. I'm looking forward to my Christmas dinner!

Thanks Smileyt, I'll give that a go. Found out my colleague got that other job i'd mentioned. i'm genuinely happy for them and congratualted them. I haven't told them I'd also gone for that job, it wouldn't be fair and don't want to take the shine off their mood. My 2 bosses have given me good references to take with me tomorrow and my original team in here want to throw me a leaving lunch (well Hobbit Breakfast! :D) on friday. I couldn't say no could I? I was quite surprised.

Mar the world is obviously going to end in Scotland. A day early.
    Maybe just stay in?
Am icing christmas cakes. Don't know why I didn't buy any glycerin earlier, but I didn't and I'm not going out again so hard icing it will have to be. 2 down 4 to go.

    Good morning everyone.

Call me mad - but last night actually caught me raising a glass of wine to the computer, which was the nearest I could get to toasting all of you and all your good news. It really was great to hear so much good news.

Morning Mar, I was wondering where you were, but now I know: you've been preparing yourself for the end of the world, or floods at least. Hope it isn't too grim tomorrow, not least cos OH is off work in the morning and I have cunning plans involving last minute Christmas shopping for his relatives!

Unixgirl - I'd actually be more worried if you weren't nervous: I reckon a bit of nerves is a good thing for an interview, far better than going in all blase and looking like you are not bothered whether you get the job or not!

Now people, please can I pick my collective toughie-Aunties cooking brains. First - can anyone recommend where I could get a few cellophane bags (for putting biscotti in)? I have a vague recollection that someone suggested one of the pound shops, but I could be imagining it. Second - has anyone (KatieOwl?) got a simple recipe for some Gluten Free Christmas goodies? We have a load of friends coming round on the day after Boxing Day. The tradition is I provide scones, spiced fairy cakes and mulled wine, but one of our pals who is coeliac and has had a tough year is coming, so I'd like to make something she can eat. All suggestions gratefully received.

Right, more than enough waffling - anyone would think I'm putting off going upstairs and cleaning the bathroom and guest room!

    Have a good day everyone.

Here are some links to good gluten free recipes....

    Highly recommend Nigella's Clementine Cake.

    Fudgish Snow Balls (No bake)
    15-20 Dates (pitted)
    100g ground almonds
    70g cocoa powder
    1 tablespoon golden syrup
    1 tablespoon cold water

Blitz together in a food processor until you have a smooth thick paste (you may need to add another teaspoon or two of water. Take a teaspoon of the dough, shape into a ball then roll in icing sugar. Surprisingly simple to do and very tasty. Will keep three to four days in a cool airtight container - reroll in fresh icing sugar as it will be absorbed)

I'll find and post some of my other recipes later.
  • Happy birthday for yesterday VJsmum x
;) The toast proposed at our wedding was for "health, wealth and happiness". Our family may not have the health and wealth but we make up for it with the happiness:D

    Happy Belated Birthday VJsmum :)

7ww - one of the £shops had packets of cello bags a few weeks back, I used them to put flannel reindeer in.

Have just finished two more batches of fudge - successfully thank goodness, the first batch just never set, so I gave it another go earlier and it turned out great, so whilst I was in the zone managed a second batch.
Another batch of mincemeat sitting and loads of muffins cooling too, am all cooked out and the kitchen is a disaster area.

Mardatha - lovely idea, will do that later when DS in bed.

Or the World ends mardatha My eldest is strange and has been researching the Mayan Prophecy for the past few years. He has a £5 bet with DH about the world ending this year.

Hugs and best wishes and good luck and congrats to everyone. I'll post later, but am in the middle of the first batch of marshmallows at the mo xxxx

I've seen one or two good quotes on facebook about this, but my prize goes to:

"It the Mayans were good at predicting the future, there would still be Mayans..."
