Unixgirl, good luck! I found this site very helpful when I was preparing for my interview: http://www.best-job-interview.com/customer-service-interview-questions.html Especially the questions to ask them and make yourself look intelligent! I really think that preparing so many answers beforehand swung the interview for me, too.

Thanks Smileyt, I'll have a look. I'm nervous. Is that silly? Was soaking my white blouse last night so its lovely and white. Will also need to check out exactly where the place is. I know I can't park at the place but I can park about 5 minutes away.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

:D But if the world does end, how will he collect off his Dad? I think your DH is onto a winner either way.........:rotfl:

Unix, fingers crossed for the interview.

Softstuff, I had a look at that map, all I can say is EEEK! Really hope it passes your area by safely and that you don't have to evacuate.

Grandma247 congrats on your newest incoming grandbaby.

Miserable-looking day here again. Yesterday, it was either raining, had just stopped raining or was just about to start raining again. Looks like a rinse and repeat for today. Never mind, it's mild, which helps out with the futility bills.

Can't believe it's Crimble next week, I suppose I won't have my holiday head on until late on the Eve because I'm working on the 24th. Subjectively, my city seems quieter than last Dec in respect of shopping, and 2011 was quieter than 2010. A lot of people have had to scale down their Christmasses and found that it doesn't alter their enjoyment much, such as pressies only for the children. Seems fair as they get so much pleasure from them, far more so than the adults.

Right, more tea as brain not quite at operating speed. Keep warm and well.

One shirt and about a dozen hankies. I somehow managed not to do the pillowslip or the hankie from the last washload so my ironing tally from Dec thus far is.....waitforit......NIL.:p

I was thinking the same re the bet :) Up here we have a hellish wind, winding itself up into a fury.
I was thinking - maybe we could light a candle/send a thought out for those caught up in the flooding, who thought they'd be cosy and snug in their homes now with stockings ready to hang from the mantelpiece - and who are instead, in bedsits with their possessions in storage.

Just to cheer us all up, here is Scotland's weather summary courtesy of Windy Wilson on FB :rotfl::rotfl:

"YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED (ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS) TOMORROW TO BE ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS - GALE FORCE WINDS, RAIN OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS - DISRUPTION TO TRAVEL - AND SEVERE FLOODING !!"

    :eek::eek:
  • Just a quick pop in, will catch up later. Mardatha have lit my candle and turned my thoughts to those in need.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

We'll be fine, as should most people. The people who tend to be at risk are those who live in more remote bushy acreage, it's rare that anyone in a town or city is threatened (though it happens from time to time). That map usually looks like that in summer, it's just what happens here. It's surprising what you can get used to without freaking out!

    :p

    I have about a dozen shirts, 3 pairs of trousers, 5 t shirts, a couple of hankies, - but I don't iron pillowslips!! :D

My DS is getting a bit worked up about the end of the world - that and a flight we are taking next week. He is a bit of a worrywort but, apart from saying "it won't be the end of the world and the plane won't crash" I am not sure what else to do?

I keep telling him I've lived through more ends of the world than I can count but he has become a little obsessive. :( I guess time will tell. 11.11 isn't it, when it's supposed to happen. I'll go for a coffee :p

It was my birthday yesterday and I had a lovely day, lovely presents and a meal out en famille. Today is my works "do". I have to be controlled with the alcohol as it flows freely and I would hate to be "drunk middle aged woman on a train" later. I really must do a bit of marking first, though.

  • Good morning everyone.

Call me mad - but last night actually caught me raising a glass of wine to the computer, which was the nearest I could get to toasting all of you and all your good news. It really was great to hear so much good news.

Morning Mar, I was wondering where you were, but now I know: you've been preparing yourself for the end of the world, or floods at least. Hope it isn't too grim tomorrow, not least cos OH is off work in the morning and I have cunning plans involving last minute Christmas shopping for his relatives!

Unixgirl - I'd actually be more worried if you weren't nervous: I reckon a bit of nerves is a good thing for an interview, far better than going in all blase and looking like you are not bothered whether you get the job or not!

Now people, please can I pick my collective toughie-Aunties cooking brains. First - can anyone recommend where I could get a few cellophane bags (for putting biscotti in)? I have a vague recollection that someone suggested one of the pound shops, but I could be imagining it. Second - has anyone (KatieOwl?) got a simple recipe for some Gluten Free Christmas goodies? We have a load of friends coming round on the day after Boxing Day. The tradition is I provide scones, spiced fairy cakes and mulled wine, but one of our pals who is coeliac and has had a tough year is coming, so I'd like to make something she can eat. All suggestions gratefully received.

Right, more than enough waffling - anyone would think I'm putting off going upstairs and cleaning the bathroom and guest room!

    Have a good day everyone.

I saw them in Sainsburys and in Morrisons in the baking aisles when I was over.
