sorry to hear you're in pain today ginny - hugs to you. sorry don't know what else to suggest. Does a hot bath help? Medicinal alcohol to take off the edge - on second thoughts maybe not if taking meds.

vjsmum - Well done on starting the Xmas shopping!!!! Know the feeling! I am hoping to do some tomorrow if DS is back to school. At least the overseas/parcels are posted just before last posting dates. Its all our kids stuff that I need to get, only got some of their stocking bits so far. Theirs is the biggest shop.

Do you have any old shoe boxes knocking about? I have used those before covered in nice paper.

DH just walked in .... and straight out again... hardly had to open my mouth to ask him to collect DS1. I must look really awful :D

I think this thread is much needed, as the title says its a support. Could I ask for your nice vibes and energy please as my family seems to be going through some hard times just now. The RV and I are helping all we can but one of my sons' probs seem to be too much to fix and he might end up losing his business and/or house. Also probs with a grandson as well.
    I'm a great believer in vibes :)
  • MAR - As many good vibes as you need, just take them, we'll keep sending!!!!! Hope things get sorted out for your son and any other problems in the family are very quickly resolved too!!! Love Lyn xxx.

meme30 try this recipe, but omit the almonds and cinnamon and add in orange zest and chocolate instead

:D Heeeyyyyyyyyy, Fuddle and Mrs LW both back, we're cooking on gas. Great to see ya both again.

I've been kicking around but not feeling 100% these past 2 weeks, nothing in particular, just general malaise. Need to see the coming of Spring and watch the days pulling out. And fewer rainy Saturdays which are crimping my style on the allotment.

Well, got bargainous veg on Saturday from the Magic Greengrocer and did some batch cooking at the weekend, some for the freezer and some to be eaten fresh. Just had h.m parsnip and potato soup and crackers as wasn't especially hungry.

Anyone else find it somehow discombobulating that parsnips taste so sweet? Don't get me wrong, I have a very sweet tooth but sweet veg seems a wee bit ........ odd.

VJsMum, I have a lot of ironing to do; one pillowslip and one hankie............ gosh, housewifery is hard work, isn't it?!

What I find about Xmas is that it tends to happen whether you're prepared for it or not so you might as well chill out. Don't envy Fuddle and family moving at this time of year, hope it goes as well as humanly possible for you, pet. Last time I was on the A19 I was in a broken down car...... *sigh* I still have never been to Thirsk...... :rotfl:Am I missing much?

Today I have done my small bit to rescue the economy by spending £4.98 in two different c.s. and a coupla £ in a discount store. Have a diary, a pair of jammies, 2 books and a bar of chocolate. Actually, come to think of it, I need the past tense for the chocolate as I've already scoffed the lot.:o

Right, gonna get Nursie to put t'kettle on and then watch a bit of a DVD series borrowed from the library. That place is my second home and it's great as I don't have to store or dust the books.

Mar - sorry to hear of your family's troubles. Sending you positive vibes. I am a firm believer of them too so they will be double strength. We are good listeners on here too so post away as much as you need. Thinking of you and your family.

GQ - missed your posts of late. Glad nothing serious up but hope you get your mojo back soon. Chin up love, you'll be ok. Maybe the new year will help. I often feel sort of ungrounded this time of year and although enjoy Xmas (only if its quiet really), am also relieved when its all over and a new year has begun.

  • Mardatha more good vibes for your family from me.

Have been busy and not on the thread for a few days so will try to catch up later. Hope everyone is OK.

Have been swimming tonight. The physio has advised me to swim for 20 min 3 times a week. At £4 a go it is going to work out expensive. I can buy a monthly pass for £28 a month which also gives me access to a gym and fitness classes but to be honest I do not have the time or the inclination for these. Swimming does not seem to have aggravated the back pain so far so fingers crossed.

I am now the proud owner of a brand new bread maker. My parents and MIL have given me cash for my birthday/christmas and the one I had my eye on was half price in Arg*s. Trying to resist using it until my birthday next week:D.

Have made a wheat bag for a colleague at work who also has back pain problems, so we now look like a pair of bookends warming them up in the microwave.

Right off to rustle up tea.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.
