shegar - I think many people are possibly just not finding time as well, I know I am normally rushing all over the place but when I add in all the Christmas stuff as well some days I feel I meet myself coming back!! With school plays, school lunches, carol services for school its alot crammed into two weeks for me. It will all slow down thankfully next Thursday when the kids break up - am planning a really quiet Friday with the kids and just a lazy day!

Am considering booking the local restaurant deal which is breakfast with Santa on Christmas eve - I thought it might be nice to take time on a day when I am usually racing about.

I have decided to pre- do as much prep as possible this year and have only invited my parents for Christmas Dinner, so have scaled back. Have bought the sausages and bacon today and will get those done later whilst cooking dinner, am going to make the stuffing balls at the same time and freeze those too.

Will still need to do big shop next week but am hoping to squeeze that into Wednesday - after that I am done (will have to pop out on Christmas Eve for milk)

KIDCAT thats shocking taking finger prints whats next scanning your retina to go to the toilet!

I run a school library and we have had fingerprint system for 4 years! many schools use it- no more lost cards or using others cards and not returning the books.therevis always an opt out though. On our admission paperwork the parents sign permission for this along with photograph, website etc

I would not be happy if I was asked to give my fingerprints for anything and I don't think that it's a good thing at all. There must be an alternative to such an invasive system.
Children's fingerprints are personal to them. The police can take fingerprints but I'm sure they have to destroy records when there is no conviction. What do the schools/dinner companies do with the records. Insurance companies now sell our details to other companies, could that happen here? Abuse of fingerprints sounds like science fiction, but in all honesty, as someone who has had their debit card cloned, I don't think it's beyond the realms of reason. It feels very 1984 to me. :(

I think that the accusation of using the thanks button as a bullying tool has really damaged the thread. I think the post reflected Fuddle's state of mind at the time. She had so much going on, moving, her DD's had been poorly, leaving her job and dealing with the landlord etc. I don't honestly think that the accusation was valid, rather an unfortunate situation/coincidence that coincided with her feeling very stressed.

It has left everyone feeling very uncomfortable and in the way of these things many have voted with their [STRIKE]feet[/STRIKE]fingers by not posting any more. It's a real shame.

Still, this is a thread for supporting people, Fuddle, herself started it as such. We all need somewhere to off load, read, cry and laugh out loud. In my case today, I am wondering if I have the time or the ability to make Molly41's wonderful wreath or/and make the mouth watering Biscotti SDG has just posted. I just love the wreath and my waistline could do without the Biscotti to be honest!:rotfl: Oh the temptation!:D

Well today i am so proud of myself, when the kids were little i made lots of cakes etc.. Work took over and popping into the supermarket was easier to get cakes than make them. well ive made a lemon loaf cake thingy, smells delicious and ive just put a cold tea cake loaf thingy in the oven. Cant remember the last time i had so much fun.

Thankyou everyone for mentioning your baking specialies, think its about time i started again. Have just spied a mixer half price in argos for under £15, its very basic but could be a godsend....

Off for a well earned cuppa now :-)

All the biscotti recipes I have seen seem to have nuts in them - can you leave them out? or swap them for something else? (fatally allergic to nuts so not a good ingredient for me!!)

I don't see why you couldn't leave them out The Dragon The choc orange ones I made at the weekend had no nuts in them, just orange zest and chopped up chocolate orange. (They were B1G2F so cheap enough to do that with). You can flavour them with what you want. I made some with dried cranberries in last year and they were nice.

Well ive just spoken to my mum, as i was thinking of getting said food mixer tomorrow from argos. Mum has just said i can have her kenwood mixer that my late dad bought for her when they first got married. She has 2, as someone gave one to her as well. All good, so i will be the proud new owner later on this evening.

Thank you SDG for the recipe saved me hunting for one, its not to expensive either as I have most things except the nuts. Dragon it seems to be a kind of thing you can mix and match to suit, the cranberries sound good too. I may miss out the nuts too then I can make them tonight, have some dried nectarines and pineapple that will work instead - yummy :j

Am trying to finish the last couple of knits and crochet projects but my arthritis is really bad today and dont know what to do with myself. I live with a pashmina wrapped around my shoulders and neck to keep the draughts out but am off to find my mini hot water bottle next

Shegar, my bird feeder is overworked this year too, and I have Blue tits for the first time. Definately makes my day though when my robin visits, I adore him and get envious when I see gardeners on tv feeding them by hand.

Good post Neme......What you say about the thread as become "uncomfortable", is exactly whats happened, yes I do feel for anyone with emotional problems , children, moving, etc, but if we all let rip on here there wouldnt be a thread to post on........And lots of us have serious problems in our lives..............

You cant take your own problems out on nice posters that are here to help one another, well thats the way I see it...........
I will give the thread a little while longer to see if it picks up again ,but I miss the good regular posters that posted on here daily for months and years....

Really cold out now the sun as gone down . looks like another hard frost........Sheila.....

STOP IT you lot - all this baking talk!! I can't stand it! I have 2 loaves in the oven and that smell alone is driving me mad.

I want to bake stuff but haven't the energy/time at the mo. Plan to do some last weekend before Christmas when hopefully all that will be left is buying the last minute fresh bits. Have about 6 jars of mincemeal bought dirt cheap a while ago so will try some of the yummy recipes posted with mincemeal - thanks!

We have no-one coming on the day anyway just us 4. Planning to visit BIL and family over the break and then just inviting couple of local friends/neighbours over but decided not to do big meals just invite for nice nibbly bits. DS1 wants to invite lots of his friends over.... No!!!!!! I have promised his best mate can come over and there is even talk of a sleepover but I'm not keen on the sleepover idea tbh (can't think why :rotfl:)

Trying to muster enough energy to put clean bedding on our bed and make DS2 cheesy pasta - he is miles better this afternoon and getting bored.

    laters
    a tired sq:)
