  • Morning all. I'm feeling rather annoyed at one of my local housing asssociations. they offered my eldest daughter a flat (her first home) at the end of october in writing and said they would be in contact within a few days to arrange a viewing. A week came and went with no word so she rang them to be told its not ready yet. Ok. Gave it another week and her social worker was yelling at her for not accepting the flat:mad:. Put social worker straight on that by showing her phone bill with itemised calls showing she had called to try and sort a viewing. Then found out reason the flat wasnt ready for viewing was that the tenants werent due to hand keys in yet! She was told the date the keys would be handed back and that the flat would be available soon after. Yesterday she phoned them again as heard nothing since keys supposedly handed in. the tenant hasnt actually moved out yet as the place they are moving to isnt ready yet and wont be until after christmas:mad::mad::mad::mad:. What on earth are they playing at offfering a property that isnt actually available? And we know the actual address so if we were that way inclined (not that we are) we could go round and have a go at the sitting tenants even though its not their fault. My daughter is so upset because she is left in limbo and she was really excited at the thought of having her very own home in time for christmas and was making plans for us to go over to hers for christmas tea and now we cant. Frustrated is not the word for how we are all feeling right now.

Well I knitted my friend's scarf. It didn't take as long as I thought. But I have knitted it to the lady in the wool shops instructions and its very short. No way it would wrap round.Thinking of turning it into a neck warmer (i.e. adding a loop of elastic on one side and a large button). Now I don't have a button big enough. Short of spending money is their anything I could use as a button?

The same happened to OH's niece. The first place she was offered was perfect it was near her Mum (my SIL) and it was all go. Then came the excuses, the wiring wasn't safe, it needed re-plastered etc etc. So she went back to them and said no use I need to move NOW. So they showed her another, it was dirty, smelly, the neighbours were drinking and having a party and it was 2pm on a weekday!. So she told them no way to living there. SHe dug her heels in and said look I need somewhere I'm going to feel safe staying I'm a young woman on my own. No high rises, no dark closes or neighbours shouting obscenities. They did offer her one after that. A new build, 1 bed, 4 in a block. She has the driveway and back garden. She got the keys a few weeks later than she'd hoped but she's finally in. Get on the phone to them and see if there's anything else or has she got her heart set on that one?

  • Seven-up - your daughter social worker has no right to be shouting at your daughter. I'd be making a complaint, it sounds like she needs reminding of her purpose and place.

Walking dead - love it! We cancelled sky before the 3rd season started so I'm in withdrawal :( I've been reading all the spoilers. Might need to resort to a jolly Roger version, can't wait for it to be on channel 5. I'm a little bit in love with darryl ;) love a man with a crossbow.

Hi Unix probably no help - but a friend of mine once made me some buttons from Fimo (think that's the stuff) although you can't wash them!
Shame you're so far away from me as I've inherited 2 button boxes along with my own................;)

Morning all, wet and gloomy here and tons to do but feeling perky so that's all that matters.

I'm a bit worried about all the rain with our flat roof and previous flooding. Now we have some missing tiles (outside wall - weird house!) which we will replace in spring when funds allow. problem is in the mean time the lower outside wall is damp for ages after a rainy spell and I'm concerned the damage its doing. One day I'll come home and the whole house will be a pile of soggy rubble. Shouldn't tempt fate but honestly sometimes if you don't laugh, you just sit and cry instead!

I have under an hour to start on the tip here then swanning off to meet a friend for coffee, 2nd coffee out this week and do you know what I don't care about the time/expense as generally that's how I get to have a semblance of a social life so :p. I invited said friend out as all we ever do is chat/moan at school gate or when we collect our kids from each others' homes. We have never sat down together for a cuppa so putting paid to that.

Then dash to another supermarche to pick up frozen pizzas as DS1 has a pal over after school. His mum has a new bubba so means she won't have to do school run for a change and I will drop DS1's friend back so she can have a rare afternoon indoors with baby and toddler.

Then more house stuff, as much as I can muster before collecting 3 excitable boys. Plan to bung left over roast chicken from last night's dinner (boy it was nice chicken) in a curry sauce from jar, cook some rice, heat some nans and bob's your uncle. That's me tonight and DH/the sofa/telly/MSE. Heaven!

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with everyone's news this week, have been skim reading though so don't get too behind and I;ve been thinking of you all lots too. Will be really busy nxt couple of weeks as v behind with everything so excuse me if I don't remember all your news :o. Just have to get some stuff done eg last posting dates overseas Mon & Weds eeeek! reminder for peeps

Have the best day you all can and sending positive thoughts and warm hugs.

    onwards and upwards!

    sq:)

you've actually given me an idea. I have a sheet of pink felt I got in with a craft lucky bag from poundland. I might be able to wrap this round the top from my fizzy vit C tablets and fashion a button of it. :D

kidcat, many dentists are not qualified to do sedation, it has to be a special dentist. It requires quite a lot of extra post grad training

Thanks kittie, I did understand that and didn't ask them to take it out ot sedate her, I just asked for a referral for the sedation and you would think I had asked them to donate a kidney :)

Off Christmas tree shopping today and determined to enjoy it, I feel I am missing the fun out of things as I am so busy racing to next place or meeting.
