I want to have another crack at using my slow cooker. I gave up on it due to everything tasting the same but think I might have been cooking things too long. So, advise please..... I have sauted onion, peppers and celery in a little bacon fat, put it in the slow cooker, topped it with 2 raw chicken legs (bone in) and poured a tin of undiluted condensed mushroom soup over the lot. How long should I cook it for? It is a multi use slow cooker/rice cooker /steamer so has no choice of high or low temperature, it is preset but
I don't know what to!
Sunny, so going to do some washing. Please be patient with any mis-spellings and typos I am officially useless with a touchscreen keyboard!!! :mad:0 -
I too am walking on those eggshells!! The thanks/ignore debate was gifted to us and I am now not sure as to what use either facility is to a poster if we are not supposed to use them. I haven't posted for a few days and probably won't again.0

I use the button to keep track of where I've read up to
I do exactly the same. Maybe we could ask if we could have a button specifically for that purpose? Then no one would feel they were being got at.
I sometimes miss out because when I go away and come back a new post might not be visible and I miss it unless I go back a bit further then come across it when going to where I was. I only sometimes fail to thank a post because I strongly disagree with what was said.0 -
Mrs Veg Plot? Why have you thanked every single posters posts today but not thanked any of mine? You know what everyone. It's time to hang up my MSE OS boots. Bullying via thanks button is getting beyond a joke.
I won't be logging back in now. Thanks for the help and support you have given me over time.Byeeeeeeeee
You are sabotaging this thread. It runs nicely for a few days and then this?
Please dont apologise Mrs Veg Plot - you have nothing to be sorry for.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
JKJ,
Most slow cookers if they have an automatic function start off on high and then switch to the lower setting at some point I think. I have no choice with mine so unless I am around to change the setting I have to set it manually. I don't think that you can overcook anything but meat like chicken tends to fall off the bone the longer it cooks...
Does this help at all?

I have always wanted to stay at Kings House in Glencoe thriftkitten - but every time we go in to ask, it's full of climbers. It does look so cosy and very pretty in summer.
I'm sat here really lazy and in full "cannot be bothered" mode and I have soap to make. The kitchen is cold, the back room is cold, whines. We got snow but only a couple of inches
Reading all the headlines and bracing meself for Osbournes statement - if only I can get through it without throwing stuff at the telly!!0 -
Not caught up with the last few days posts yet. But (and excuse me for saying this)
- we all have lives/distractions away from here, sometimes when we post here it may seem as though we haven't seen what some else has posted. Its not done deliberately but sometimes what people post here is a release they can't get in RL
- ((((Hugs)))) to all that need them. Goodness knows we all need them at one point or another.
- Time, having a conversation on here isn't like one in RL. There's a time delay due to people's availability and their own distractions. All of us here have a few things in common (otherwise we wouldn't be here): we care about those around us; we want whats best for our loved ones and the ones we care about; we appreciate the simpler things in life (I don't mean anything derogatory by this just that we're the kind of folk that would get more of a kick out of making/doing something rather than buying something extravagant and non-practical).
.....we're all individuals but we're all here for the same reason. For those who use the thanks button as a guide to where they have read - if you click on the thread you want to read and then click on 'view first unread' it should take you to where you last read upto. HTH:)Do what you love :happyhear0

Lets all get on ladies and gents in the true meaning of the threads. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
