Thinking of you jem the best of luck xxxx
byatt and kidcat. I agree with Softstuff. I really don't know how you do it, my two have had their problems (especially DS1), but I'm not sure I could deal with what you do day in day out. I hope DS8 is feeling better kidcat. DH stuck two screwdrivers into an electric socket when he was still in nappies, just to see what happened. He says he remembers flying across the room and landing still cross legged. He is mostly ok now although I think it is sometimes in doubt
meme30 (((((((hugs))))))))
I am still coughing up yucky stuff and feeling bleugh, but am getting slowly better. We actually had a proper dinner last night. DH has been on holiday this week and has had the same bug. We have spent the week taking it in turn to nap. I had hoped that not going out would have saved us money, but DH discovered Amazon's Black Friday deals. £150 later I banned him from anymore deals
I am looking forward to getting out of the house again and hope to at least make it around the supermarket at some point this weekend.
Take care and hugs to everyone xxxx0 -
I think the hardest bit of being a mum is that we have to stand back and watch them having at least one train wreck. Because that's the only way to learn, the hard way is the way you never forget. And remember that most of us in here have been there, have got drunk/ in trouble with debt/relationships/wotever. And we survived. So I mostly stood back with mine when I saw they were not going to listen - and collected the pieces later. And never said "I told you so" because I didn't have to
I just gave them the look.
I found this post on an American forum today and it shows how OS-ers are the same all over the world -
"I am 28 years old. I live in Georgia with my husband, we have been married for over 10 years. We have 6 kids, ages, almost 9, 6, 5, 4, 2, and 4 months. I spend my time homesteading, home keeping, and homeschooling our kids. In my spare time, I like to sew, bake, read, and travel. We live on 8 acres and we have chickens, ducks, goats, and a jack donkey. We have plans for future bees, rabbits, and cattle. I also garden, but this year's garden was a horrible let down.
I've found that it's very hard to find other people out "there" who have the same ambitions, drive, and way of life that I do. I have no friends of my own age because it and I find that really sad!"0 -
Morning everyone, weather here yesterday was major rain. Went to my car last night and it seams the exhaust has a major hole, so to get home i turned the stereo up so i couldnt here it!! I bet my neighbours could tho as it was nearly 10.30pm.
So am now going to go to the garage to find out how much this will be, it needs taxing this weekend and an mot on the 17th. It is definatley something i can do without. We are rural, and its the only way to get to work - a very vicious circle to be in.
Finally OH was driving home the other day and turning onto a mojor road he saw at the last minute a car at 7pm withno lights on. He followed the car for nearly 4 miles and in the end decided to go past due to the hazard to other road users. When they got to the end of the road at the junction he leaned out and yelled - (i know!!) get your****** lights on you moron!!. Well said driver reported him to his employer for road rage. He is so damh angry, he said maybe i should have had the accident then she would have been happy. Thing is they couldnt understand her very well when she rang as she was slurring her words, Oh did say they were driving rather straangley. Its worrying, I hope his job is ok but maybe something needs to be done about this driver. Next time someone mighht not be so lucky.
Sorry for the rant, but im scared it will effect us. You try and do a good deed......
Well to the garage i go before work. Have a good day everyone, stay safe and warm.BSC member 137

whirling dervish here today, that`s me. Calm before another storm so am prepping like mad. Bedding washing but will take two loads and where is the wind when I want it!! Food getting sorted as I speak, a big lot of compote soaking in left over sloe gin and will gently simmer later. 2 lb of mince defrosting, lots of dehydrated veg soaking to go with the mince, just got to think of a way to make it very tasty now, maybe some anchovies? will put enough in the fridge for the weekend and rest into foil boxes for freezing. Dehydrated leeks and potatoes also soaking for a big pan of soup
I woke up cold at 4 am and could not get back to sleep so have dozed downstairs, other nights have been too warm but temperature plummeted last night and tonight will be freezing
Will ask dd not to bring family over as still bad conditions in places and will be more than bad over the whole weekend. Parts of the lane look like a country track where water has rushed down. Some horrific pictures on the news. Don`t forget that 2 feet of water will float your car and if the water is moving then the car will be swept along and the occupants could drown. One eggcup of water in the engine will cost you a new engine and water is sucked in through the exhaust. Local farmer in s wales taught me how to drive my land rover (sold it ages ago) through floods, very important to keep the revs up to blow water out the exhaust ie not speed but low gear and racing engine, then dry brakes by driving in pulses with brakes on. Better to avoid situations if possible0 -
Morning all
Jem hope all goes well today X
Hope everyone has managed to stay safe and dry just watching the news and its terrible in some parts
I have some exciting news I just had to share :j
My son's school (DS2) is getting a special visit on Monday from Prince Charles,Jamie Oliver (!!),Hugh Fearnley W and possibly Mary Berry whoop!
Charlie and Jamie and Hugh have confirmed so far, they had Giles Coren there last week too.
Bad news is they've banned the kids/parents from stalking for autographs I'd have loved Jamie to have signed DS3's 15 minute meals for chrimbo..and security is going to be very tight for obvious reasons..*I told my son its cos of Jamie and Hugh lol*
Such a shame so close and yet so far,DS3 is an avid fan of all 3 and DS2 has been unfazed by all the fuss0 -
Morning all, peaceful calm reigns outside at the moment, what a difference a day makes!!!! Glad everyone survived last night's storm relatively unscathed. It was very windy and noisy through most of last night so not a lot of sleep was to be had.
JEM - Will be thinking of you through today and hoping you get the answers and treatment that you need to be back to normal life very soon.
BYATT - I hope you had some sleep last night, weather and worry permitting. Would your DD let Bess come to you for a few days if you said you were lonely and wanted her for company? That might get you a different reaction to No you can't have my dog! Hope you can sort something out pet, thinking of you too!!!
Have a quiet and peaceful day everyone, take care Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
morning everyone. Jem thinking of you and hope all goes well. Hugs to Kidcat and byatt.
I am off to a surestart course today on using up leftovers. Not that i need to know how to do that but it will be a giggle and i get 2 hours childfree for a change. then home to do housework and prepare my books to put out tomorow as i wont earn if they just sit in the house!0 -
Shesh, how to did the school wangle that one?! The only famous person I have seen is Tony Blair opening a wind turbine and Robson Green (and his Solider, Soldier (how do you spell that?) counterpart, forgot his name) playing charity golf.
Mar I agree with you and want to try to be that mam who lets her children make their own decisions but who will be there to help out when needed... it's going to be so hard though because I just want to protect them  My mam let me make my own decisions, I got in a mess and she wouldn't help me :rotfl: still, even that has made me into a much better and stronger person so... maybe she did me a favour.
JKJ, I feel too. I'm nearing 13 stone and struggle to even lose a few pounds. I'm at the end of my tether with it because I walk miles and miles each day and I rush around the dining hall for 90 mins daily.
Doc's appointment booked for next Thursday evening. It's about my AD's. I would like 20mg (been taking 2x10mg) and want it on record for when I move that I've tried on less and I can't cope. I was warned that I may need the medication constantly and I think I do. It's not normal to fret about having hats and gloves in the right place so you can cope without feelings of being late for school. That for me is the slippery slope to the anxiety creeping right back.
I had a hissy fit with DH this morning. He had put work trousers in the wash because the dog sat on him. He drives, he sits, he does his paperwork and calls people, sits in meetings etc. He can wear a pair of trousers for 2 days regardless of whether the dog sat on him! I really am cross at him over something so silly but I have so much to do in the house and the washing mountain is something I just cant keep up with. It's so unfair because I can't keep cross at him because he makes me laugh, he's got me wrapped round his finger! :rotfl:
And, I think I have a verruca, well 2 actually, one on each toe and they are pressing together. It's hurting when I walk and I need my feet pain free. DH getting me something later, probably duct tape for my whinging gob :rotfl:
Righto, so much to do. Catch up with you all this afternoon. I hope everyone is ok enough to plod on - all we can hope for sometimes huh?0
