    Really helpful softstuff, thank you!

They do like mince and dumplings so I'll try on the hob. DD has asked for the same way she gets at school. I guess that doesn't mean sloppy.

I have to admit I've come to rely heavily on the slow cooker but if they're not going to enjoy what comes out of it then there's no point. I love what comes out of it, I can't see the problem but going to try using the oven/hob and halogen more.

Thanks for the good thoughts. I slept OK because it doesn't hurt if I don't move, turning over was interesting, but this morning I still feel really shakey, and in a lot of pain. My Son-in-law is on the way to take me to A&E :)

    Speak to you later!

Kittie - thank you for the Epsom salt info. I had a read of some bits and ordered some. Last nights bath was very refreshing and rather than dropping off to sleep at 9pm I was still very alert at 11pm. When I went to bed I slept like a log and woke up at 7am having not stirred all night. I've woken up with what sounds like a full on snotty cold but it's just my sinus clearing out following the salt bath, very, very effective.

I need to do this - at least for the sleep. I am jet lagged and have had about 12 hours sleep in 3 days. I don't know how I'm functioning. I did manage to get through the day - adrenalin and coffee but the same adrenalin and coffee may keep me awake. I woke at 2.30 after 3 hours sleep and that was it. It's now 6.10 pm and I taught for 8 hours. TIme differences freak me out - I have just done a full days work and you are all just getting up. I need food - something there is no shortage of here - every other shop is a restaurant of some kind.

Shall I go to "Paris Croissant" or "Paris Baguette" or "Tous Les Jours" - that's right I am in Seoul :rotfl: Now that's "Gangnam Style" :D

  • katieowl, I hope you're feeling better this morning. I would still go and get it checked out, just to make sure nothing is broken.
Lots of nice recipes there, will give some of those a try. like the sound of the aubergine one especially.

I'm another one for hitting the spicy food when I feel a cold coming on. Chilli, curry, spicy arrabiata pasta, all with lots of chillis and garlic (even more garlic than normal, we're garlic fiends in this house...never seen a vampire so it must work ;) )

DH's uncle died in the night :( . It's very sad but we're all glad it was sooner rather than later, and his relatives from spain made it over in time to say goodbye. the girls are drawing more pictures and writing letters for him today.

Taking saw, hammer and nails on the lotty shortly to build a cold frame with some donated windows and to dig up some parsnips to go with tea. best get a wriggle on as I have lots of other jobs to do today too.

Fuddle:- Yes those windows show everything when the lights on!

Lisakay:- Oh I'm sorry to hear your news. No matter how expected it's always a blow. Take some time today to be good to yourself and give your children and your DH big hugs.:grouphug:

Katie - glad you are going to be checked over hope all goes quickly :)

    Lisa - ((hugs))

VJsmum - you have my sympathy - I hope you manage to get some quality rest and let your body catch up as it were :)

ETA - having had a wander to the kitchen I have decided my plan to sort the shelf was way too ambitious for my back today so I am finishing the Christmas shopping instead. I have finished DS8 and DD18, am almost finished DS14. Just DD6 to do - and thats become difficult, she has asked for a blackberry phone (the newest one!!) and a hamster. She is getting neither :) her main present is here its just a case of some small stocking fillers really, which I may do next week instore.

I am also going to attempt the baileys fudge in wine glasses today just to be sure they will work as teacher gifts - question is how long does fudge last.

So i have put diced pork in slow cooker in gravy since first thing. Diced carrots and cauli plus BIG yorkshire puds for lunch. YAY proper food.

Tea will be the normal cheese sandwich, but yesterday i toasted it in the toasty bags from the £shop. Was very nice!!

Delurking re the slow cooker "issue" I find as it has a lid the liquid doesn't evaporate so something like a bolognese doesn't thicken up so well. I wonder if you could remove the lid for the last hour or two? I know sometimes with stew I have to stir in gravy granules or cornflour as the gravy can be quite watery.
Or just cut down the liquid added in the beginning?
    Back to lurkdom :D
<thinking about what can go in slowcooker this week>
