new homes, new stoves, pay rises
lovely to see some nice things happening to lovely people.
not nice to see there are still troubles
mcculloch, hope rummy recovers quickly and will be able to race again soon x
we love animals in this house and have aquired several
they're all daft as brushes. the dog thinks he's a child, the cat thinks he's a dog, the rabbits are relatively normal.
The school run involves crossing a big field when it's not too muddy and I have to allow extra time to allow for dog stroking. the girls will regularly stop dog owners to ask if they can stroke the dogs.
DH's uncle is having palliative care only, now. His respirator has been removed and it's just a matter of time.
Despite that, have had a good nights sleep and have woken up feeling postive that something good is about to happen. There is news in the wind of a possible house move to a slightly bigger house (it's the house opposite and the tenants have recently been evicted for criminal activity!! (will probably have to be prepared for a few knocks on the door for previous tenants for a while if we do move)).
We're off to the church christmas fair in a little while. the girls are going to ride their bikes up and take their pocket money.freecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE.
Lovely news has been mention quite a bit but also some sad news about the lovely horse. Hope he is better soon.
Had busy day yesterday again. Took my mum grocery shopping first thing and then went to see DD at work. Had a quick cuppa with her while she did my nails. Im festive already its red glitter.
Then i went to see her fiance at work, gave hime the list of jobs the car failed on as the garage quoted £145 for a new bulb, ball joint thingy and an exhaust small bit. Oh and a retest fee. So he has agreed to sort it all for the parts cost only. Bless him. He was very cross that i didnt even ask him to do it. Hope it will save a bit of money as we have another car that needs an MOT in 2 weeks and a car to tax. We have no choice as we work in different directions, and different times. No regular buses here.
Hope everyone has a good day, i have work again all day - infact must shower and go!!BSC member 137

Jumble sales, Christmas Fair's and a hardware store! We sure know how to live it up!Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0

Not been to a jumble sale or fair for years... I feel deprived now0

Me neither, not since my girls were at school and they used to hold rugby scrum ones. :rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0

But we know we're among sympathetic OS types who'll understand the attractions...............:rotfl:You'd die to see my hardware store, it's beyond old style. Can't say too much about it, real world identifier etc but it's fab. Mum (hardware store groupie) has to be dragged away from there with brute force.
An I'll never apologise for loving a jumbly (or a fayre) and use that crack about sharpening my elbows myself. Although I have nearly been knocked off my feet by lil ole ladies who are a foot shorter than me and very determined.
Right, pooter's going OFF for a few hours or I'll get nowt done. Laters, GQxxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

A day of packing and cleaning on major scale for me. DH has the garage to do, I feel sorry for him. I'll keep him supplied in cuppas and a batch of Twinks is needed. He likes them, even took them to work for the staff to gobble. I've never baked anything good enough for that honour!
Re: Christmas dinner, we're going to MIL's house so no need to hurry and buy a table
I have to tell you that for the move we're using the Provence money. I know, I'm not happy about it either. The agents are plucking add on fees left right and centre. I WILL get my already booked holiday though. We've a lot of saving to do but where there's a will there's a way.
DH has joined in the mealtime revolt. He thinks that I have to stop using basics ingredients because it's ruining the meals. He can't quite understand that we can save a bit of money each month because I buy basics, because I scrimp, because I make cheap meals etc. I'm not too sure what I'm going to do about it but my menu plan needs a radical overhaul. I suspect I'm going to have to buy more chicken. So reading up on how to joint a chicken and also rubber chicken is needed. I think a couple of pie dishes could be the way to go too.
Have a lovely day everyone0 -
I used t really love jumble sales, just sad that I never go to them any more, I wouldn't know when/where they were on, living up here.
Fuddle, all the wartime cookery books have a lot of pies in them, its an easy way to make a tiny bit of meat go a long way I think. And yes chicken is cheap - we live on it!0 -
Another one here with Jumble envy. Fantastic news for Fuddle.
We are eating chicken next week, every day next week as it has to last.
JP, glad you had a good day, it can be dire working in education, I've spent the last 2 days wading through tearful teachers, we have staff off with stress & staff leaving in droves, it's a nightmare.
On the bright side I've added a non electric kettle to my Amazon wish list, ready for when I get my vouchers next week.

That reminds me, I need to add a stove top kettle to my wish list. If the oven is gas would that be cheaper than running the halogen oven?
