I really wasn't in the mood for telling you all before and to be honest I'm really still filled with the feelings of bewilderment. Our new LL has passed our details onto the letting agent he deals with and we're now in the hands of the agents. We've paid £120 for credit checks we know we are going to fail. All is not lost as the LL knows our financial background and the ultimate decision is still with him. I feel like the house is slipping away though. The credit check forms have been submitted online complete with our reference details. I feel like I'm flailing about in the water. I have no idea how it's going to turn out other than I'm cross at myself for thinking we were just dealing with a bloke DH knows. Nothing is ever simple, nothing can ever be like 'oh I know you, I'd like you to rent one of my houses' Stupid for thinking and dare believing that we could really move on.
On Saturday I looked the man in the eyes and said "So have I got a new house to rent then?" He replied "Yes you've got a new house to rent" I'm hoping that the agents are just a formality because they will be looking after the property and when it comes to them letting the LL know of the results he'll say "I know, they told me, I still want them to rent one of my houses".
What is the betting it doesn't happen like that though. I felt sick earlier and now I just feel empty.0 -
Kidcat, those cakes look fab! Your ds8 is very talented
Aww Cranky you made me well up. Give your boy a hug from his spare grandma.xxx
Nearly finished the loft :j:beer::T and Ds just unearthed a huge bag of thick crochet cotton perfect for dish cloths - goodness knows where it came from. Now if I could just find the letter saying when exactly they are coming to re-insulate the loft I would be really happy - i wan to say...the 23rd....wanders off to crochet and think......
Glad you have support kidcat hunny, i think you need it.
pooky, another casualty today then, your poor OH, hope he picks up tomorrow xClearing the junk to travel light

Fuddle - I did wonder if there would be agents but he seemed so sure. I still wouldnt give up as in the house before last when we were looking at renting we did the deal directly with the LL and then there was a policy change and agents became involved.
We went into the agents and they said that our income was not sufficient to rent the house (the rent was as low as a council house at that time) and refused us. We went back to the LL very upset and the LL overrode the agent as the deal had already been done. In fact the LL had not instructed agent to do all the formal checks, they had simply requested that they get the contracts etc drawn up.
It may be the same here that the agents have assumed that they should be doing the checks but that the LL didnt ask them too0 -
((((((((fuddle)))))))
Is it evitable that you will fail the credit check? I'm not too familiar with bankruptcy but I kinda had the impression that you were a bankrupt for a year and then "discharged" although you were somehow deemed a less desirable customer for financial services for a 5 further years?
Will the records showing that you have been paying your rent and other bills steadily not mitigate the credit check a bit?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Fuddle - thats the other thing you can do now, get your evidence of paying your bills and rent on time, ask current LL for a reference etc build a case, the bankruptcy was a few years ago now so you have proved that you are not !!!!less.0

FUDDLE - My dearie, we are here, we are with you and we are holding your hand. Keep hoping and we'll keep sending you the strength to do so. Keep your chin up pet and keep looking the world in the eye, you'll get there!!!!
KIDCAT - Those cakes are wonderful, little works of art from a very talented little lad, you must be a very proud Mum, Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
I hope so kidcat, I hope so. I'm not sure I've seen my rent on my credit file but we've been using a credit builder to help our files (pre pay 'credit' card) The bankruptcy lasted for a year and we're 2 full years out of it so it may come back as a warning kind of result other than a blank no.
Just last night at around 7-8pm the new LL rang DH's mobile with the move in date. He knows I've given my LL our notice. I can't help cling on to decency and word but paperwork and rules seem to overrule. My head doesn't know what to think or what to do.
edited to add: Lyn, you all give me strength every day. It's why I selfishly posted just now. I knew if I let it out I feel better and I knew that the good people on here would post helpful ideas that I hadn't thought about.0 -

Hmm I don't know where it comes from originally but when I could still cross stitch someone in the States sent me that as a cross stitch pattern (and it fit! Mind you the same person also sent me "Sometimes the Dragon wins")

Isn't it just a variation on "Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger." from Lord of the Rings?0
