)
You'll have a lovely timeSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Dragon, either that word in your post was a typo or you have a Durham accent? "have you got money regular like?" I think it's only us that use like when asking a question?
Deep breath and calm. I hope so. Had a few tears and now a hot chocolate so well on the way to getting a grip.
I was brought up in Darlington and the accent comes out every so often!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Hi everyone, huggs to everyone who needs them. Had a busy afternoon and just finished work!! We are a lucky family in a way, we both have jobs at the moment. We have in the past been out of work, and have suffered losing our house to repossession and facing bankruptcy in the end. What happened in the end was inevitable. We had lost everything apart from our family. My OH family have no idea still that we have been declared bankrupt. They would totally disown us, even tho we have little contact.
I read what everyones trials and tribulations are, it makes what i see as a major worry (the cars mot in the morning) something trivial. I wish I could help sovle the problems for you. I am lucky as i have my health, a home and food in the cupboards and my tummy!!
forgot to mention, there were loads of police and dog handlers in our little village today - it seams a lorry had gone to the local farm and when the back was opened up there were men leaping out. It had arrived from holland!!!! Police were asking locals to check there gardens and sheds!!! OMG its foggy here, cant see anything. Just shows how lucky our lives here at times compared to some that have to sneak into here to geta better life.
HUGS AND BEST WISHES TO ALL, HAVE A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP. THANKYOU XBSC member 137

Lisa sorry to hear about your dh's uncle. Maybe you could buy a special candle and the girls could spend a couple of minutes now and then with the candle lit thinking happy thoughts about him. Tell them he will be able to feel the thoughts and no matter how poorly he is on the outside they will make him feel warm and happy on the inside.
Hide the matches well if you do so they don't feel tempted to add a little extra candle time while unsupervised.
Fuddle all fingers and paws crossed for you in the Cranky household.
Mrs LW if you could bottle Docky hugs they'd be in great demand and definitely some of the glumness would lift.
My good news....a friend came round today to collect something that once belonged to MrC. As I wouldn't take any money for the item, my friend carted off a big bag of some plastering related substance that I couldn't even drag along the floor in the junk room. Friend carted it down three flights of stairs and out to their car to be disposed of. The bag has sat like a lump in the middle of the junk room floor for the last three years. Small victories.....0 -
Lisakay, sorry to hear about your DH's uncle.
Your girls sound lovely.
Maccanut, just read your post and I don't think you're moaning. If you struggle with the special diet, why not post on here and see if we have any suggestions?
Fuddle, try not to worry (says she who at midnight last night was convinced she had killed her own dog ....). As Greyqueen said, you should surely have enough evidence of being good payers to win over the landlord (who doesn't sound as if he needs much winning over anyway).
Now, here's a very silly joke which made me laugh just because it's so stupid, and I share it all with you in the hope that it will raise a smile.
An Alsatian went to a telegram office, took out a blank form and wrote, “Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof. Woof.”
The clerk examined the paper and politely told the dog: “There are only nine words here. You could send another ‘Woof’ for the same price.”
“But,” the dog replied, “that would make no sense at all.”:rotfl:
Sorry. I know it's awful....
I'm off to bed. Sweet dreams xxx

Thankyou ladies x I've had my little cry and tried to comfort eat (hard to do when there's no junk food in the house...i'm sure cucumber sticks and hummous don't count as comfort food
). have spoken to DH again and he seems ok. Our girls are both very matter of fact. before bed DD1 asked 'is uncle going to die?'...'yes baby I think he is'...'oh, i'll miss him a lot'.
we all will. I've told them that they may be able to talk to him in their dreams.
The awkward thing I find is what to tell them happens after. I do not believe in any gods or heaven and i'm not convinced either way about afterlife and spirits. I have not told the girls this, they will eventually come to their own conclusions as i did. they seem to think that people go 'somewhere' afterwards.
some weeks after mums dog died DD2 made us all shed a tear when she found homers ball and said look nanna, homer forgot to take his ball with him when he died, how will he play now?
I think we're all playing the waiting game now.
fuddles waiting for house news, kidcat for so called professionals, others for doctors, results, healing, jobs.
I do know though, that everything will work out the way it's meant to be. not necessarily the way we want it to be but the way it's supposed to happen.
I have actually remembered though that I have had some good news. At the pta meeting this afternoon there was a man from a charity based community building team trying to get community groups and activities up and running and encouraging us to get some stuff off the ground to bring the local comunity together...and there is funding available. a community allotment is already being set up so i may be starting a kids gardening club to run alongside that. also looking into hosting a 'big lunch' in the school grounds to bring the local community together.

Dear Monnagran, No bed? I have a blow up mattress you can have, then the Rev can just turn up at the hospital with bag under one arm and mattress under the other. Maybe take a card table as well, in case they haven't got an available (operating) table either. Commiserations to the Rev, delays are so tedious.0

So much heartache, troubles and worries for so many.
I am so, so sorry. I wish I could gather you all up in a huge group hug, and tell you all that everything will be ok.
Or maybe for us all to come together, gather around a lovely wood fire, with warm drinks, and steaming apple crumble pie.
Today is another day. Face it head on, or hide in your bed...just stay safe and be kind to yourself.0 -
Softstuff:- Pleased it's shingles and not MS.
Just wrap yourself up and let this awful illness take it's course. Lots of vitamins, plenty protein and gallons of oj needed to boost your immune system. Having read your posts in the past, I'm willing to bet you have lost even more weight! Those new trousers are going to need a belt!:D
Dragon:-I have a mental picture of a dragon sidling up to a cheesecake :rotfl:
Nuttyp:- See, kidkat get spiders in the bedroom, and Rosiepuddingpaws gets mice in the conservatory, and you get MEN! Hope you looked under your bed!:rotfl:
Aril:- This will get you to the previous thread.https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4058837
Lisakay:-Awful news for you! I'm sending you and your family prayers and hugs. I understand what you mean about explaining things to your children. It's hard to know what to say or how to phrase it.
Years ago I worked with children who had brain tumours and their families. As part of my learning as much as I could I attended a talk about children's perception of death. What struck me the most was their 'take' on the many platitudes adults use.
'We lost her'...Are they going to lose me?
'His soul's in heaven now'....The child drew a picture of a man with no soles to his shoes.
'He is in a better place'....Nicer than being with us?
'God needed him more than we did'....Why did God not want me?
One little girl was quite alright about her brother being buried as she could see his grave from the bus on her way home from school. She got very upset as the nights drew in because it was dark and he did not have a light with him.:(
I think you can only prepare them and talk as honestly as you can. My Grandson who is 5, believes his Great-Grandad is the sparkle in the night sky, and is quite happy with that!Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0
