Morning everyone, just back from garage as it is MOT day. Not a good one as there are a few things on the failure list. The upside is it can be repaired but it will cost. The exhaust has a hole, and needs a new section, brakes are sticking?? and there is a lightbulb that is out. Including the MOT it will be aroung £175. I have no idea if its a good price, but I will have to find it somehow as its booked in for monday to be done as the mot runs out on wednesday.
Have just rang OH at work to tell him, he said can we afford it!! its not a cse of can we, we have to as he drive for 1/2 hour to get to work. Well that puts paid to me dreaming yesterday of takeing up the sun offer of a day at disney paris.
Hope everyone is ok, what i have happening seems really silly compared to others problems, especially as i saw a homeless man after i left the garage - it was foggy and damp and very cold.
Warm wishes to everyone and hope the sickies feel better soon. Onwards and upwards ............BSC member 137

Hello I hope you don't mind me just popping in to say JKJ
Check if you have caps lock on,on your laptop as that could explain why your password is not accepted but seems to be the same one you type in on your touch pad. (Your user name is caps so you wouldn't notice the password being capitals as the password comes up as stars ).0 -
I'm fine Possession honest
its just the novelty of being able to sit on my bum doing nothing is wearing off! I'm able to focus more often than not now so getting there..
Its a day of mixed emotions here today,DS2 has had his renewal back in record time 4.5 weeks :T well done DWP and he's been awarded high rate both again this time indefinately for Mobility and 5 years for care (although it all changes soon anyway) but he's been quite upset since he read itI suppose he thinks they're written him off poor sod..
He's on reduced hours at school too as he's not been well enough to go full time so thats bugging him as well.
I'm pleased he has got his award but it does bring it home just how ill he actually isso I'm baking choc chip cakes for him and we're going to pig out later while shooting zombies:D
Katieowl switching my printer on now thats lovely thankyou for posting it XX0 -
This is a pic of the stove I have (taken from Country K!ln website), was just cleaning mine and saw the name! It is WBD (wood burning day) tomorrow when I will find out if I can use stove. I read on the web site that it is a coal stove too, so will check with sweep about that. Quite excited now.
Oooooh lovely. :beer:Please be patient with any mis-spellings and typos I am officially useless with a touchscreen keyboard!!! :mad:0 -

BYATT - If all goes to plan with your beautiful stove and you are going to cook on top of it make sure you use some nice heavy duty pans, you can't regulate the heat the way you can on a cooker. It takes longer for things to cook through as well. If you find one, a flat trivet (a cast iron one) raises the pan just a little from the stovetop and stops food from catching on the pan bottom. You'll need to experiment with timings, but you soon get used to that. On a celebratory first evening with your stove try mulling some cider or wine on it, very delish and a fitting way to celebrate, enjoy, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

:DMorning all,
Been AWOL for a couple of weeks and am dipping my little toe back in the toughies pool of water.... is it warm enough? yeah I think it is bubbling over like a warm, soothing jucuzzi - wish I could have a magic wish and give everyone on here a free spa day. If I have THE big lottery win....
Boys off school today as their little (for the area that is) school is being used as a polling station to vote in the VIP/Head PC Plod. Decided not to do my usual - make a long list of tasks that's impossible to complete and then feel frustrated at the end of the day when lots are left undone.
So today I got up later, DH actually did bins and fed cats before he left for work... wondered if it was my birthday come early :rotfl: Got a load on/out, had a nice bath, pottered about a little and biggest task - cut boys' hairs - they had grown too long and the amount of clippered hair on the floor could have stuffed a small cushion! Both detest haircuts but we got there and not too much moaning so promised them a treat in town after lunch.
Ok better run them a bath to get rid of loose hairs - times like this when I miss our shower - it sits there mocking me (we still have a non-working shower fixed to wall) but I am on track with savings for our eventual new bathroom (only waited 10 years so far for it!! and still waiting :rotfl:)
Fuddle - I had the same idea re Children in Need and yesterday enjoyed myself drawing red, blue and green dots with permanent markers we already had on to plain white pe tops (I bought packs of 2 for both boys - what's the betting they now loose the original pe tops at school?!)
I think the result looks pretty good and cost zilch. Boys are excited to have a non-uniform day tomorrow with their customised and original tops. When I was telling friends about my plans, they looked bemused and were saying well you can buy x,y and z with the branded spots on - they think I'm nuts I know. To be honest if I could afford to buy the branded stuff, I would still have made my own and made a bigger donation. A couple of years ago I wouldn't have been "brave" enough to send them in a handmade creation - how daft I was then!
I'm sorry not to reply individually, I am a bit out of touch though have been reading posts as much as possible. Been struggling a little last couple of weeks and decided just to plod on quietly. Glad to say feeling/coping better now.
One thing that has helped is more support for DS2 at school - he has been struggling a lot since he went back after half-term and a couple of positive, helpful meetings about it has helped so much - what a difference to last year when I felt up against a brick wall. Someone actually listened, understood and is bending over backwards to help. I am learning slowly to get rid of the anger I feel towards DS2's teacher last year whose idea of support was to drag DS2 to inappropriate and far too lengthy time-outs no matter what the situation (and yes he did need them sometimes but not every blinking time.) Said teacher left at end of last school year to go travelling. I did/do feel empathy for her as she was obviously very stressed but unfortunately this affected my DS so adversely. How can you get an angry child to calm down when you are loosing it yourself?
Anyway sorry I really didn't mean to ramble on but somehow the words just flowed - writing on here is so theraputic.
Sending each and every one of you positive thoughts and cheering you on in spirit even if I don't post. We will all get through what we need to get through somehow.
onwards and upwards, just straight ahead without looking down and you'll be fine, views as you go up are breathtaking I promise. When you get to the top, celebrate and then when you are ready, climb the next mountain/hill/mound, whatever you can handle. I will wave when I spot you plodding like me!

Thanks Mrs LW and JKJ, I've just brought in my logs and kindling, should have done it sooner I think as they are a bit damp. It needs a good tidy inside, but I'm not touching anything else until sweep has given all clear (fingers crossed), plus a big spider is in there! If I can use it will be able to put a kettle on top and a cast iron casserole dish.
What's the betting we have the mildest winter on record?! :rotfl:
If sweep okays you tomorrow (and really hope he does even if I am a tad jealous of your lovely stove!) you'll have done your best to guarantee us a mild winter - thanks. I did it last year by purchasing well in advance a lovely blue sledge for DD and we did not have one single fall of snow sufficient to use it!
Got DD a new wooden ring stacking thingy at Ikea when we were there on monday as she loves to stack the coits on and off a sand filled bottle at nursery - Early Years advisory teacher's idea as apparently DD couldn't manage the 'normal' one when asked to, well she is sitting there happily putting the wooden rings on and off and they only have a 1 cm diameter hole! Yes, it's taking a fair bit of doing but as I knew she is perfectly capable of it, EYAT probably just didn't give her long enough to do it before announcing she couldn't  will be filming this on the phone later to add to my list of ammo for next time. This is the same woman who said DD needed to work on inset boards because she didn't do them instantly - has she never heard of motor processing issues????
It's a good job nursery are good or I'd have been had up for murder by now!0 -

I spotted this first thing this morning. It's a lovely colourful inspirational piece of artwork with real meaning for all those who are struggling.See if you can print it off and pin it up somewhere you will see it every day. Mine is on the fridge!

What a good idea, I have been caught with that before...pity it won't work for my computer problem sadly...
Not a good day...one of those brown envelopes dropped on the mat and though I have another year supposedly before that should happen there is talk of an assessment, filling in one of those forms and...migrating to a form of the new ESA...there is always something...I was hoping that I might see the end of this year out. Oh well...
I am one of many...

Hi everyone.
Sorry but nothing constructive to add today. I woke up this morning with my sinuses well inflammed, feel like someone has clattered me across the face with a baseball bat during the night. Went and thew up then went back to bed till 10. Got up and was back hugging the toilet bowl when heard a knock on the door, missed them but it had been the courier with my epsom salts, one of the things that might actually help! Problem is he has now taken them back to the depot.
Hugs (i'm not contagious) to all.
Fuddle. Please try not to worry. A friend of mine who is on a DMP with a completely shot credit rating has just moved 450mile to start a decent job and rid of an abusive ex. She is in a similar situation trying to get a house but she was very honest with the agent and because of that they are really trying to help her. I think there is a growing amount of people in the same boat these days and some agents are realising that they are gonna have a lot of empty properties on their lists soon if they don't start cutting some slack.0
