Thankyou ladies x I've had my little cry and tried to comfort eat (hard to do when there's no junk food in the house...i'm sure cucumber sticks and hummous don't count as comfort food
). have spoken to DH again and he seems ok. Our girls are both very matter of fact. before bed DD1 asked 'is uncle going to die?'...'yes baby I think he is'...'oh, i'll miss him a lot'.
we all will. I've told them that they may be able to talk to him in their dreams.
The awkward thing I find is what to tell them happens after. I do not believe in any gods or heaven and i'm not convinced either way about afterlife and spirits. I have not told the girls this, they will eventually come to their own conclusions as i did. they seem to think that people go 'somewhere' afterwards.
((Hugs)) Lisa - so sorry to hear your sad news
As regards 'what happens after' I find a good (and actually scientifically accurate) explanation, if like me, you aren't religious, is to say that 'we go back to the universe'. As we, or the matter we are made from, in fact does!
Looking up at a starry sky, I have personally found that quite comforting - having lost 3 relatives in quick succession earlier this year. Not so very different from ideas of 'heaven' that others believe in, is it?
Take care x0 -

Hello all, been a bit MIA recently so think I have managed to keep up with the posts but had got to the stage where if I had started it would not have stopped and got all messy. The head was not at all clear, in fact completely befuddled, the heart ached and the "get up and go" had got up and gone!
Then from somewhere the voice of sanity came and I realised only I can make a difference. So I booted myself up the bum, took myself to the gym for a killer one on one session (unpopular time so was free as a scheduled session) great at stopping the brain from spinning if you can't breathe you dont have enough oxygen to think, had a good 2 hour long whinge to bestest mate to get the head sorted and matters straight in my own complex way, finished and hit send on an application right on the deadline day, made a pact to complete some work projects this year, then sat down and addressed the finances.
This year seems intent on kicking us right to the last night and frankly it can do its worst but it will finish and I will still be here! DH is on the case with a (non responsive) HR department and I am trying to wangle an additional role in a sister company even if its a short term set up a systems role which could be a godsend for early next year. Not sure it has legs on it, but I have set the ball in motion on that score.
So I then promptly received the first bit of good news, car service (free as prepaid) did not require additional parts. And it got a wash and Hoover so clean serviced no cost car!
Counted my blessings: I have a job, I don't understand why boss is being horrid at present but as long as I am doing my job well he doesn't have a leg to stand on. Actual line manager phoned for long chat and put me more in the loop on a few things so feel a bit more secure. DH has a job too, even if pay is less.
We can survive if the worst case scenario came to pass although it would be depressing and uncomfortable as hell.
We just have to keep our fingers crossed that tomorrow when the rented house kitchen lights are looked at that it is a simple fix and not a new set of kitchen lights needed! If it does then it does simple as that.
So my thoughts and heartfelt hopes and best wishes to you all on this thread, we have reserves of courage and tenacity previously unheard of and as yet unplumbed.

As a side issue, it would take so long to go back and read then add to my post because I am using a touchscreen and it is driving me mad. MAD I tell you! I would love to post using my old laptop, which is slow but has a real keyboard that doesn't end up making appear 10 years old, but for so reeason I cannot log into the site on that machine. I can log in and out over and over again on this damned touch screen, but my laptop tells me it doesn't rcognise my user name and/or password. I have made sure I am logged out on the touchscreen and have cleared the cookies on the laptop. Am stuck now, any ideas?
Fairly simple thing to try is another browser, if you don't have another installed on your laptop then you could try Firefox or Chrome (assuming that you'd be running Internet Explorer if you didn't have any other browser installed).
If you have any punctuation marks as part of your password, then it may be that your Laptop keyboard has slipped into US mode - easy way to check open notepad (or anything you can type in) then type every key on your keyboard (including holding shift key down) and make sure what you see on the screen matches the key you press. If they don't let me know what operating system you are running and I'll tell you how to correct it (though I'm assuming you are running Windows I've seen both things happen on other operating systems and can point you in the right direction).
Though I snipped your comments on the thread and posters, I very much agree with them.
I post infrequently though try to read every post, and do try to answer when there's something I know. The level of support, friendship and help here is amazing.
Kidcat I asked Herself, being that her day job (normally) includes assessing people for assistance. In her case the referrals come from Social Workers, but the referrals to those SWs come from all over, including GPs, District Nurses, Schools and Self Referrals . Although she works with adults, she says there is no reason why you can't phone social services and request the assessment your self, "Its a legal right to have an assessment" were her words (she did add that that may well be as far as the legal right goes,)
Speaking of Herself, we finally have a date to see a consultant (last one made such a mess of referral that she was deemed non urgent and initially offered an appointment next year) and will be seen at the end of this month.
To all those I haven't specifically mentioned, you are very much in my thoughts, I often don't know what to say or find that someone has said it far more eloquently than I can.0 -
Crikey, life suddenly got busy here and I didn't have time to come and post or sympathise with any of you...although I did keep up with the reading so I don't need to catch up on that. Hugs to all who need them xxxxx
Had to get up early every day this week. Monday I had to get up to go and convince the dentist to fix my broken tooth. The good news was that he gave me a discount and the root canal work did not need re doing. Then my husband had 2 major nose bleeds for no reason we could think of and I had to drive him go to the A and E to get it sorted out. It is a new hospital that has just opened. It took them ten years to complete it as they ran out of money four times.... the staff were wonderful when I hussled him through the door covered in blood.
So they plugged his nose and told him to rest and we had to go and get it checked every morning since. We saw the specialist today...who asked us if we could speak Greek well....after I said I could he continued to talk in English for the rest of the appointment LOL. He was very good though, gentle and caring.
So all is well, plugs removed and nose is working normally again. Still no idea what it was unless it was the really nasty mosquito bite he got on the bridge of his nose the day before.
Went out to pay our bills this morning, plus tax bills. We knew what they would be in advance so were ready for them financially. I took the chance to do my shopping and keep the stocks up and got lots of bargains. Thursday is a good day for the thirty percent off stickers and I got Greek yogurt, gluten free sausages and ham and smoked salmon for the freezer all reduced. I also stocked up on more fruit as it was so cheap it seemed they were giving it away. It keeps really well in the fridge. I cannot buy any more for the freezers for a while as they are absolutely full to the brim.
Got horrible weather this morning, foggy and damp, had a brief spell of sunshine during the afternoon but now its pouring with rain like it did last night. I got the washing mostly dry outside and now its airing in the room with the dehumidifier on. Off to make some spare ribs with rice noodles and oyster mushrooms. I need a treat, this week has been chaos. Just hope we can relax for the weekend now.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -

Hi, we are fine, thank you. In fact I am just about to take them out for a walk now, before the schools get out. I find most children in this area to be highly uneducated about dogs and how to behave around them. They wonder why the dogs bark at them sometimes - could it be because the children are barking, howling and 'raar-ing' at them in the first place, I ask myself ....? It's a good job I've got even-tempered dogs who mostly ignore the taunting.
I am having a 'getting lots done' day, for a change!
Any dog owners in Tower Hamlets, London? This might be of interest - a consultation on keeping dogs on leads in all parks in the area. http://www.eastlondonadvertiser.co.uk/news/victoria_park_dog_walkers_to_be_consulted_over_mandatory_leashes_1_1691099
Right, I'm off to take poochies to the polling station and vote. They will only vote for candidates who promise a bonio dispenser on every street corner so I guess it will be just me signing with an X then ... :rotfl:Aspire not to have more but to be more.

It has been heartrending, reading some of your posts. Many of you are like calm ducks on the water but paddling like mad underneath. I`ll be lighting a nice candle later today, when dusk comes and sending you some healing energy
Aria`s tail, grhh that would drive me mad re the salts delivery. What a shame but don`t forget that a plain steaming hot bath right at the start can work wonders anyway. My epsom salts haven`t arrived yet but mg chloride has and I have made magnesium oil and put it into a spray bottle. 100g mg chloride and 42g water. It is called oil because it feels oily. Just spray on skin and leave on for 12 minutes then shower off. Dh will be using it form tonight. Very much cheaper than buying ready made oil
Fuddle that builder sounds a pretty decent chap, hold that thought in your mind
Fantastic scarf finished from just one ball of noro kureyon which was a bargain price of about £5. Scarf must be worth over £20. Really stunning now that I have washed and blocked it. I bought 4 other balls in different colours so will make more scarves, as presents of course
I have an old and well worn lambswool jumper that has well and truly outlived its days, so I washed hot and felted it yesterday. Cut off the sleeves and all ribs. Slit it up the middle and rounded out the top of the slit edges. Turned all edges over and tacked them, it already looks good and feels warm as a layering top. I will machine sew around tomorrow and am just waiting for my needle felting kit to come and I`ll then decorate it. It looks like a very promising project. The sleeves will make arm warmers for dh for cycling, I`ll just shorten and tidy up and add some shirring elastic
We just got winter tyres, the first time ever as dh said the car was sliding everywhere last year, simply by turning it on the lane outside. Was dangerous at the time as he could not get a grip. We are at the bottom of long steep hills and the one very long flat lane out is narrow with filled drainage ditches on each side, so dangerous in winter
Starling displays are amazing the last few days, just over a field away and we can see them from upstairs. They are roosting on all sides so it is very bird noisy just before they take off. They also do it in the morning sometimes, as today, when a bird of prey sat on a hedge watching. Its very autumn watch0 -
SMILEY - Glad all is well, have mentioned Bonio Dispensers to the lurcher who has expressed a burning desire to go into politics, not the bity kind please Mumi, and stand for the Bonio's for All Party, will Tess and Bruno vote for him he says? They don't need to put an X on the paper just a nosey print!!!!! Cheers Lyn and Him xxx.0
