I don't even know what capers are.

I think I'll get some chives and add a bit red onion whizzed up in the whizzy thing with that healthy helping if pepper. Thank you very much, searching online at all the possibilities has had me demented!

Lyn, yeah I will have to watch tato's like a hawk. I am all too good at over boiling them.

Sorry whoever asked for it, should have put up the weather forecasting link earlier

    Here you are

Mrs LW - that was a lovely post.

I don't llike potato salad - really not keen on things eaten cold that are meant to be eaten hot. Except christmas pudding, which is much better cold.

    this is for you, Fuddle

    :D

Thanks for the card suggestions I will utilise them in one or more of those ways. I rather like the hole punched card and ribbon idea.

I think ;OH and I might go walking or bike riding tomorrow - trying to make the most of the decent weather. OH got a chimenea come barbeque come pizza oven for his birthday, I think we might try the pizza oven out tomorrow when we get back.

DD is singing her heart out in the shower - goodness she is good, though I say it who shouldn't. Very soon we are embarking on a round of auditions for drama school, we are doing an open day at LIPA (Liverpool) in a couple of weeks - I think that will wet her appetite even more. These drama schools aren't daft, they audition all who apply and charge £50 a go for the privilege  On top of that they aren't all UCAS applications, some are privately run - so we might be going to as many as 12 auditions. That's a lot of money with potentially nothing to show for it at the end. At the moment she has the task of going through each course and deciding which she likes. We've started at RADA and are working our way down :D

BYATT you are a brilliant and loving Mum, the best you can possibly be and your caring and love for your daughter shines in every post you've ever written but what you are not is a magician and you can't make him into something he's not. Your DD has all of your love, all of your care, all you can give her and if that is what she has she is a luckier girl than most. You put her first, before you in your life and that is the most precious gift that can be given, you can't change him but you can and do make a difference to your DD and she will love you unconditionally for that, you can't give anything better because that love can't be bought, only given, yes?

Yes, looking at it that way, it's him that's missing out not her or I. She has been and is the best thing that's happened in my life, despite all the worries and fears which are always there with her being an auty, but my life would not have been so rich without her. xxx

On a different note, I have added to my veggie patch, mixed lettuce and leeks, plus I rescued some dwarf broad beans that had been thrown on someone's compost heap. I know, you are saying, what was byatt doing on a compost heap!:rotfl:

Hi Fuddle, just boil the spuds til just tender, add chopped chives or maybe finely chopped red onion, and generous dollop of mayo and plenty of freshly ground black pepper, also nice with a spoonful of wholegrain mustard stirred through it.
    Hope this is of use.
I heard £land had disposable bbqs in...
Hope the weather stays fine and you have a lovely barbie!

It's quite possible he's a misery who is still searching for contentment. I've seen the contentment in your posts Byatt. You've got one up on him I reckon.

Can I ask a potato salad question? All the recipes I've seen call for vinegarette and capers for potato salad. I have potatoes (Maris pipers. Will they work?) and mayonnaise. I'm just after a basic recipe that won't cost a lot to buy in.

We're having a disposable BBQ tomorrow (are they quite cheap?) got burgers and sausages and buns defrosting, alalready got coleslaw, just need to make that potato salad and some garlic bread.

I'm very excited, although we have no furniture it will be a picnic on the grass do... More fun ;) watch it pittle doon!
  • And what is wrong with being on a compost heap??? Oh eck I hope you had your wellies on!!! He Who Knows used to send me in to the middle of the manure heap when DD2 went riding,he would take the trailer over and send me in to'find a good, rich seam' and my job was to shovel it to a point where he could then load in in to the trailer, oh my, such interesting (if a little smelly!)lives we lead, all because we garden, who would have thought it? Mind it was quite nice in the depths of winter, lovely warm feet!!!!! I know, too much information is NOT a good thing, Sorry, Lyn xxx.

Byatt your a wonderful caring mum and your daughter knows this. Don't let him know that he's getting to you as, this is exactly what he, wants.

Fuddle nice car, and you are doing the right thing hun :)

GQ and ginny didn't think anyone was bad as me:)

I, nearly walked into a glass bus stop today, I swear it wasn't there earlier:o

stiltwalker I did it , the charity tickets are booked and paid for friday next week. I'm a complete wreck, I'm going with D so I know can reply on her.

Took the lads to a social group today for kids with asd. D came with me , it was her first time and her kids loved it. it's cheap to go and really relaxing safe place to go. We didn't go to the more expensive as they wanted to stay at my friends and play. So saved myself at least £20 in taxis and, entrance fees.

Not sure what to this weekend,I know the boys will love the sci fi /comic thing at the arc in stockton. Then after that prob guisbrough. If it's nice on sunday maybe saltburn or park.

It's such a nice might, just got the cats in during mid cat fight. So thats us in for, the night.
