hmmm pops i would speak to a housing officer personally as they are not allowed to read personal letters in any way shape or form.
Unfortunately housing officers are allowed to turn up uninvited apparently its to check on houses. I was told by local housing association last year when i was bidding for social landlords They can also make a request to visit your home if your living in private accommodation.

Well been a manic few days since i was last on here what with dealing with hospitals and things. DS2 managed to break his forearm which links to his wrist over the bank holiday weekend. He got rushed through to the main department in a&e so he didn't have wait to be seen. Poor lad had to have an xray and overnight stay in the children's ward. They were lovely and the surgeon was really nice and kept on popping back throughout the early morning of the night to check on his progress. The nurses on the children's ward were fantastic and spoilt ds2 rotten and listened to me about how to calm / reassure him with his autistic traits. Put it this way the nurses asked me if he was autistic before i even said anything.

Only thing is he has to stay off school till he gets checked out again by the surgeon on Wednesday morning. One little knock and he may have to have surgery again :(

the scary thing he didn't cry moan or complain he was silent from when he fell through to having surgery and things. I wouldn't know anything was wrong till i looked at his wrist. Scary really, my friends daughter is the same and apparently its a symptom of her autism.

He's driving me mental as he's so hyperactive and sit still, anyone got any tranquillisers :rotfl:

Kezlou, my DD is the same, she had severe damage to her knee, cartilage or whatever it is was liquid and bone was rubbing on bone, she had been like this for years!!! I nearly cancelled her consultant's appointment because I thought it was just the odd twinge she had and therefore couldn't be serious. I felt like the worst mother on the planet.

The other side of the coin is she can have a tiny, tiny scratch and scream blue murder. :o

Aw kez :( a bit if a rough time for you all.

GQ you've been? Isle of Lewis? When DH and I married on Isle of Arran we made the decision for DH to get a sabbatical with work and take a job on Outer Hebrides. He decided on Lewis as that was where the jobs were. Only problem being was our debt and nothing was well paid enough to make it work. Still to this day I feel like I should be up there and have missed out on an opportunity, even though an incredibly hard way of living. I will get there one day, even just to visit... No trees they say?

Good to hear you are a bit more upbeat Pops.
I've just watched the BBC 'Hoarder' programme with Jasmine; no miracle transformations a la Stelios, but something more believable and some progress - Olive was a truly remarkable person, as Jasmine acknowledged.

If I understand correctly from what was written, the visit by these 2 men from the "council" was unexpected?

Are you sure they were legitimate?

It was arranged but originally I was told that it was to ask questions to see they had all details about me on their files and it was correct, you know receiving all that I should be etc...and then they said they wanted a look around. They had passes around their necks.

It was called an annual tennacy check. Originally when I asked about the visit and it was rearranged I was not told that it included a tour of the house or that two people were calling.

Quick look around my most recent reading:
'Banish Clutter Forever' - self explanatory
'You Had Me At Hello' - rather good chick-lit, Amazon freebie.
'Dr Christian's Guide to Growing Up' - Amazon freebie, read to check suitability for DGC.
'Mack The Life' - Lee Mack's autobiography. Very good.
'Better Than Fiction' - Travel writing by fiction writers, Amazon freebie.
'Badminton Revisited' (Eventing, not the racquet sport).
Tips and tricks for iPhone. (can't recall exact title, lib. book)
Various maths books for resource ideas for learners stuck on topics.
Re-read: Weirdest Ever Notes and Queries.
    Gok Wan's autobiography.

pops yes they can check the property then by the sounds of it, thats what i was also told when i signed the tenancy agreement for our new house in February.

Fuddle - were okay just ds2 driving me nuts. He's being hyper and doing my head in, only thing that calms him down is scooby doo lol
Only so many times i can watch the loch ness monster with him :rotfl:

byatt - aw thats not your fault you cant do anything if you don't it there. Honestly i hadn't of looked at wrist, who knows, my OH didn't look at him he just asked if he was alright. So OH felt terrible and so guilty. if i shout at ds2 he acts as though i kicked ten bells out of him, he just can't handle it and screams. Honestly you cna't win.

Fuddle - the Western Isles is a totally different culture - ok for holidays but I think hard to get used to unless you've been brought up there. I know many people who failed to settle and came back to the mainland.
Re council housing, I've lived in it for 47 years and never once had a visit from a housing visitor - the only times they came were when I asked them to.
